Kurt stood in front of his mirror mouthing words he couldn't yet say aloud, "I'm pregnant, Blaine, you're going to be a father."
Straightening his outfit once more he decided he should probably have some breakfast before he leaves.
"You look gorgeous Kurt, stop fussing." Rachel said handing him a lint roller.
He strategically cleaned off the black V-neck that hung loosely from his thin frame, all except for the lightly stretched area of his growing bump. His jeans swooped below his waist and clung to his hips, some probably thought he was trying to look sexy, but in all honesty his pants were just growing a little too tight. Who knew fashion could ever betray you?
Once more he touched his already perfect hair before sitting down at the makeshift kitchen table pouring himself a bowl of multigrain cheerios.
"As soon as your finished breakfast and Santana is finished with her makeup we can head off to the airport." Rachel said with a yawn, Kurt nodding before he yawned as well.
"I know you didn't sleep at all last night but you're honestly glowing. I'm gonna bottle this pregnancy stuff and be the most successful cosmetologist ever." Rachel teased and Kurt smiled.
"I guess that's a pro to being pregnant, my already freakishly white skin now glows." Kurt teased and Rachel frowned.
"That's not what I meant." Rachel said poking him.
"I know, now come one let's see if we can speed up Santana's morning makeup process." Kurt suggested as he stood carefully, placing a hand on his abdomen before rushing off to the bathroom where he'd see those cheerios again, this time they weren't looking as cheerful.
"You okay?" Santana asked from where she was standing in the bathroom applying her cherry red lipstick.
"Sorry San didn't see you in here." Kurt said flushing the toilet and stepping next to her so he could brush his teeth.
"Morning sickness or nerves?" Santana asked and Kurt paused.
"I don't even know, I don't know how to tell him. What if he freaks out. What if he doesn't want the baby. I'm keeping my child regardless but still. I can't imagine raising this baby without him San. I love him." Kurt said trying to stop the tears.
"I know you do, and he loves you too Kurt. He loves you so much. Personally I don't think you ever stop loving someone. There will always be a part of your heart devoted to them. And with this baby you'll get him back no problem. You can trap his ass." Santana said with a wink.
"But I don't want him to think he's trapped. I don't want him to feel like he has to stay. Because that could only lead to resentment and an awful nasty break up. And by that point the kid will be attached to him and he'll fight for custody and fucking everyone in his family is a lawyer so he'll win. And I'll lose my baby. I can't lose Blaine, but even more so I can't lose my baby." Kurt cried softly and Santana wrapped her arms around him, her palm pressed against his belly and the other gently patting his back.
"Shhh, it's okay. You're not going to lose anyone. Like I said I've got your back. Don't worry about anything, it doesn't matter how jumbled things are now. We'll work it out together. Everything will get better. I promise you." Santana held him and he cried. "Now come on, we don't wanna miss our flight." She said ushering him towards the door.
It was a quiet plane ride, they couldn't get seats next to each other because of the last minuteness of it all, but they didn't mind. It gave them each an opportunity to think about the upcoming weekend. It gave Rachel the chance to organize her thoughts about Finn. It gave Santana time to plan her attack on trouty mouth and her battle strategy for winning back Brittany. And mostly it gave Kurt the opportunity to think, and that's really what he needed.
The plane landed smoothly and they stepped out into the brisk Ohio morning. Tugging on their jackets and clutching their carryon, the only bags they had brought.
"Okay so my dad said Finn would pick us up and we could go chill with him at McKinley while he has work. Well Carole said all he does is sit in his 'office' which is a janitor's closet and waits for Glee club, but I guess we can have some fun with it." Kurt explained.
"I know Britts and I always had fun in that janitor's closet." Santana said with a wink.
"Don't piss Sam off too badly, we do have to live with him for the weekend." Rachel warned.
"Well don't piss Finn off too badly because he's my brother and it upsets me when you're rude to him." Kurt warned Rachel and Santana smirked.
"Fine, fine. Everyone on their best behaviors." Rachel said and smiled when she saw Finn standing in the airport lobby with a sign that read "MY UNBORN NIECE/NEWPHEW, oh and Kurt, Santana, and Rachel."
"Hey guys!" Finn said running over to where they were standing. "I made a sign so you guys would be able to find me." Finn said gesturing to his sign.
"We could never lose you Frakenteen." Santana said before Finn pulled her into a hug. "I surprisingly missed you Finn."
"I missed you too Santana!" Finn said excitedly hugging her, turning next to greet Rachel. "Hey Rach, I missed you too." He said a little quieter giving her an awkward one arm hug.
"Kurt!!!" Finn said excitedly sign forgotten on the floor and he ran over and picked his brother up in a tight embrace. "I missed you." Finn said when he finally sat Kurt back down on the floor.
"I missed you too." Kurt smiled, placing a hand over his small bump as he laughed.
"Oh my god I'm gonna be an uncle!" Finn announced to the airport as he picked Kurt up once again hugging him tightly.
"Shhh Finn it's like 6 am you can't just yell things." Kurt laughed.
"I'll do whatever I want because I'm so happy. My brother's back in town and I'm going to be an uncle!" He yelled again and the group laughed.
Finn drove them to McKinley, unlocking the door with his 'special teacher key' they left their bags in Finn's car and were excited to spend the day in their alma mater. Finn explained that the teachers wouldn't really get there until seven-ish and as they knew the students didn't roll in until after eight, so they had plenty enough time to sing their hearts out in their old choir room.
"Guess who did their little bro a favor and asked a bowtie-wearing, hair gel-addicted student to come in an hour early for a special glee club assignment." Finn smiled and Kurt hugged him tightly. "I hear him coming, you guys go hide in the supply closet and you can surprise him." Finn suggested and they ducked into the secluded room as other voices entered the choir room.
"Hey Finn, I'm here." A not so chipper Blaine said and Kurt could hardly contain his joy at hearing the voice. He was about to come out but stopped when Blaine continued to talk.
"I hope you didn't mind that I brought Sam with me." Blaine added and Santana practically growled at the name cause Rachel to laugh a little.
"Did the closet just laugh?" Sam asked confused.
"No, I'm, um, I'm breeding mice, that uh can mimic sounds, like parrots. Parrot mice." Finn explained and Kurt face palmed.
Sam smiled at the idea of parrot mice and Blaine shook his head.
"Whatever, so I brought Sam here because he texted me this morning asking for a ride since you left him." Blaine accused.
"Yeah dude, what the fuck? You take off in the early morning going god knows where and I'm left stranded. You could have at least called." Sam said sounding not really angry just irritated.
"Where did you even go?" Blaine asked with a judgmental glare.
"It was a surprise for you Blaine. You don't have to be such a dick. And I'm sorry Sam, I forgot to tell you. It was fucking early." Finn replied and Kurt laughed.
"Finn tell your mice to shut the fuck up." Sam said and Kurt laughed more.
"Damn it Kurt, shut up!" Finn yelled at the closet.
"Kurt?" Sam asked.
"I missed him okay, I can name a mouse after my brother, it's totally normal!" Finn said frantically and Kurt and Santana laughed.
"Kurt?" Blaine asked and stepped towards the closet door.
"Stop! The mice don't like visitors!" Finn yelled and Kurt laughed as Blaine opened the door.
"Hey Blainers." Santana greeted first as the trio stepped out of the room.
"Hey Blaine." Kurt smiled.
"God I'm glad we're out of there it, I could barely move. Someone's been gaining weight and it sure isn't me." Santana teased and Kurt glared at her.
"Finn, tell mouse Santana to shut up and that it's not my fault." Kurt laughed and Blaine stared.
"Kurt it's so good to see you, but what are you doing here?" Blaine asked.
"Stopping in for Friday night dinner?" Kurt shrugged and Sam laughed rushing over to hug the group.
"Guys I'm so glad to see you." He smiled. "No hard feelings Santana?" He asked and Santana forced a smile, a very scary looking smile.
"Yeah so sorry Sam, I left to pick them up from the airport, I thought mom or dad would have driven you to school or told you to catch the bus. And there was no glee meeting it was a surprise for you Blaine, Kurt wanted to see you." Finn explained and Kurt waved awkwardly.
"Well you could have called silly, so what are you just going to hang around school all day? That's a little sad." Blaine asked and Kurt immediately began explaining himself.
"Well um, I was going to hang out with Finn, and then later me and Santana were going to go see coach Sue, and then I was hoping during your free I could kidnap you for a little time so we could, uh, talk." Kurt explained.
"Well as much as I would love to 'talk' to you during free." Blaine began placing air quotes around talk and throwing in a wink. "I actually hang out in the library with Sam during free." He explained and Kurt frowned.
"But dude, you're totally welcome to join us." Sam suggested excitedly and Kurt shrugged.
"Sam, why don't you spend free with your girlfriend?" Santana asked.
"We actually don't have the same free period, but I would have loved to have been able to spend even more time with her." Sam replied and Santana frowned.
"Well if you can't spare a minute during free I guess I can talk to you before glee club, or maybe you could come over tonight, or we could meet up over the weekend. I just really need to talk to you." Kurt tried to express the urgency with his face but Blaine seemed to be paying more attention to Sam.
"Okay cool." Blaine shrugged. "Sam do you want me to go with you to your locker before class?" Blaine asked and Sam shrugged.
"Well it was nice seeing you all." Blaine said before following Sam out of the room like a lost puppy.
"Well this is going to be a little more complicated than we thought." Rachel said patting Kurt's shoulder.
"He's such a dick are you sure you wanna have a baby with him?" Finn asked and Kurt laughed.
"It's a little late Finn." Kurt shrugged instinctively placing a hand on his small but visible bump.
"It'll all work out." Santana reminded him.
