Finn entered the school building and made his way down the hallway to his locker.

Images of the bloody footprints down this very hallway flashed through his mind.

It was rather early, so no one was really at school yet.

But the people who were couldn’t help but stare and whisper.

It was a little unnerving and Finn didn’t like this type of attention.

“There you are. Finn, oh my God!” Mercedes called as she rapidly approached him.

“Hi Mercedes.” He said looking back down at his locker.

He knew what she would want to talk about, and he wasn’t quite sure if he was ready for it.

“What happened it Kurt? Is he okay? I saw the story on the news? What happened?” She asked all at once. “Do you think it was Karofsky?” she whispered.

He shuddered at mention of his name.

“Kurt’s in the hospital. He was, well, attacked. And now he’s in the hospital. And yeah, that’s my best guess as to who it is.” Finn answered.

That wasn’t so hard; he just wouldn’t give graphic details, or try to think about them.

“Is he okay?” She asked.

“I’m-I’m not sure, He hasn’t woken up yet. They doctor’s say he’ll live, but he’s not awake yet.” He answered.

“Oh God, my poor Kurt.” She said sadly. “Can I come with you to see him after school?” She asked.

“I’m not sure if that’s a good idea Mercedes. They wouldn’t even let Blaine in. Only family was allowed in.” He answered truthfully.

“Oh” was all she could say. “Well, will you let me know when you know anything else?” She asked.

“Sure thing Mercedes.” He answered.

She began to walk away but turned back around. “Hey Finn?” she asked.

“Yeah?”

“Was it true that-that he was raped?” she asked. You could tell by her facial expression that she was uncomfortable.

Finn nodded his head.

“Sorry.” She said as the both walked their separate ways.

“Hey Finn!” Puck called down the hallway.

“Yeah?” he turned around to answer.

“Why weren’t you at practice on Saturday?” Puck questioned.

Shit, they had practice Saturday.

“I was at the hospital.” Finn answered.

“Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. Did Burt have another heart attack?” Puck asked curiously.

Did Puck really not watch the news?

“No, it was Kurt.” He answered.

“Oh God, did he try to kill himself?” Puck asked in shock. “Is he okay?” he asked really concerned.

“No, but someone else tried to kill him. He was beaten and stabbed and other things and left to die.” Finn explained.

“Oh my God. Fucking Karofsky. I know he threatened Kurt, but do you think he would really kill him for telling?” Puck asked.

“As of right now, he’s alive. But he’s in the hospital, pretty serious damage; he hasn’t even woken up yet.” Finn said.

“Wait till I get my hands on Karofsky, he’s fucking going down.” Puck said angrily.

“No, Puck. Listen to me, don’t touch him. There’s a federal investigation going on and you don’t want to get involved.” Finn repeated to him what Burt said to him and Blaine after they wanted to beat down Karofsky.

“Federal investigation? For a beating?” Puck asked.

“No, for the attempted homicide and rape, since he threatened him before it was also premeditated.” Finn explained.

“Hold up. Did you just say rape?” Puck asked.

“Yeah, he was raped.” Finn answered shivering as the words fell from his mouth.

“Fucking bastard. People are sick, who would do that? Well I know who, but why. Oh you better hold me back because I will not sit by and watch that bastard walk around this school having done what he did to our Kurt. If the police don’t lock his ass up soon he’s gonna get it.” Puck barked.

“I know, I know. I’m just as angry. But let the police handle it.” Finn said in a warning tone.

“Okay, I will.” Puck sighed. “I’m sorry to hear about Kurt, man that really blows. I hope he’s okay. I’ll pray for him when I got to temple this afternoon.” Puck said laughing a little at the fact he had to go to temple.

“Thanks dude. I’ll let you know how he’s doing.”

Puck walked away and Finn continued down the hallway.

All day Finn was bombarded with questions about the whereabouts and conditions of his step-brother.

He felt like announcing the story over the intercom so he wouldn’t have to tell it again.

Each time he told it he felt sick.

It was bad enough he had to explain it to his fellow glee clubbers but now also to teachers and faculty and other random students.

Like it was really their business.

The parts of the day he didn’t spend explaining the situation, he was still pondering the situation.

He wondered how Kurt was doing.

He was very concerned.

He couldn’t focus on anything else.

Blaine wasn’t focusing too well either. His thoughts kept returning to the boy he loved all alone in a hospital bed, that he wouldn’t even be able to go in and see.

“Hey Blainers, can we talk for a minute?” Wes asked as him and David and a few other Warblers entered the room.

This interrupted Blaine from his thoughts.

At least whatever they had to say would get his mind off Kurt.

“Yes?” Blaine replied.

“Well, we uh heard about the situation with Kurt. David saw it on the news and Trent’s mom works in the hospital he was brought to. Is he okay?” Wes asked his voice full of concern.

“It was pretty bad, he’s not in the best condition, but he’s alive. I guess that’s all that matters.” Blaine answered.

“Okay. We’re sorry to hear that.” Wes answered.

“And what about you? How are you holding up man?” Jeff asked as he pulled Blaine into a friendly hug.

“I don’t know. I just don’t know. It’s hard enough to have watched him suffer the bullying, but then this attack, it’s just awful, and he hasn’t even woken up yet. And you know what? I’m fucking not even allowed in his hospital room because I’m not family. I love him and all I want to do is be there for him, and I can’t even do that.” Blaine said almost crying at that.

“It’s okay Blainers, he’ll pull through. He’ll be just fine, and I’m sure once he’s awake you’ll be able to see him.” Wes comforted him.

“I hope he’s fine. I really need him to be fine. Wh-what will I do without him?” Blaine asked.

“ssh, hey, no. Don’t think like that Blaine. He’ll be fine.” Trent reassured him.

“Thank you guys for being here. I needed some comfort.”

“It’s okay Blaine; we know this is hard for you. Kurt was once of us and we just want to make sure he’s okay. We still care about him. ‘Once a Warbler always a Warbler’ am I right? Just, stay strong. Kurt will be fine in no time. If you need anyone to talk to, we’re all here for you.” David said as he patted Blaine’s shoulder.

“I hope so.” Blaine said quietly as the group pulled him into a comforting hug.

“I hope so.”

Back in the halls of McKinley Finn was walking to lunch when someone stopped him.

“Where’s your faggy brother?” Karofsky said smirking.

“You should know.” Finn retorted.

“Well I don’t. Care to enlighten me?” Karofsky said pushing Finn into a locker.

“What, plan on going and raping him again?” Finn said pushing him off of him.

Karofsky was livid at this point.

“Who told you that!” he demanded.

“The doctors.” Finn said as he began to walk away. He knew if he didn’t walk away he would lose his temper.

But it wasn’t Finn who lost his temper.

Karofsky lounged at Finn punching him in the face and throwing him against the locker.

Even though Finn was a lot taller than Karofsky he still managed to take control.

“I swear if you tell a single person here at school I’ll-” Karofsky started.

“What rape me? Try to kill me? Everything you did to Kurt?” Finn asked. “They know Karofsky, the whole school knows, hell the whole town, it was even on the news. There’s an investigation, your ass is going to rot in jail for what you did to him. All they need is a little more evidence and you’re done for.” Finn answered.

Karofsky punched him again and walked off.

Damn that hurt, Finn thought as he walked into the bathroom to survey his now blackening eye.

End Notes: TBC.
