Kurt sat in Blaine’s embrace on the floor next to Finn.
Why were the on the floor you may ask.
It was Finn’s idea; he claimed there wouldn’t be enough seats when everyone came in so he said they could all sit in a circle and talk.
Kurt wasn’t too happy about running his clothes but he got over it. If it pleased Finn he’d do it.
He was so sorry for what he had done to his family and friends and Blaine. He’d do anything they’d ask from now on. He just wanted to show them he was sorry and thankful to them.
Even if it meant sitting on a dirty hospital floor.
It’s not even like he per se was sitting on the floor, he was more so in Blaine’s lap.
But still couldn’t they all just sit on the bed?
Oh well it made Finn happy.
Burt and Carole exited the room to begin filling out paperwork regarding Kurt and Blaine’s discharge from the hospital.
And the room soon filled with the smiling faces of people he could always count on.
He was greeted by many many hugs.
The first person to walk in happened to be Mercedes, she ran over and practically picked him up off the ground hugging and kissing him.
She squeezed him so tightly the fabric of his shirt began rubbing against his fresh cuts giving him an enjoyable yet painful sting.
“Oh I’m sorry boo, you’re ribs must still be sore. I’m just so happy you’re okay!” She said before kissing him again and sitting down next to him and Blaine.
Yes, his ribs hurt. That was all. And that was a pretty good excuse.
“Hi Blaine, don’t think I forgot about you!” She said kissing him on the cheek.
“Hi Mercedes!” Blaine smiled.
Kurt grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes.
He wasn’t sure what to say, but she seemed to have got it.
Next Rachel walked in, crying, of course. “Kurt I’m so happy you’re okay!” she blubbered.
“I’m fine Rach.” He said casually. “I’m sorry to have worried you guys.” He said sadly.
“Nonsense, don’t be sorry. We’re just glad you’re okay.” Mercedes assured him.
Santana and Brittany came in next, they were holding hands, Kurt noticed.
“Santana! My dolphins okay!” Brittany cheered as she ran over and flung herself in his lap kissing his lips.
“Okay. Hi Britt! I’m okay. And I’m glad to see you. But what did I tell you, I’m gay, remember.” He said pulling away from the kiss that was turning sloppy and passionate.
“I know you’re capitol G gay, everyone knows that, silly. But I’m just so glad to see my dolphin’s okay!” She said cheerfully hugging him closer and pecking him on the cheek again.
Santana walked over and kissed Kurt on the cheek as well. “I’m glad you’re okay.” She said simply. She hugged him tightly and pulled Brittany off of him when she stood.
“Thank you all for coming to see me. It means so much.” Kurt said fondly.
He wasn’t expecting Santana to speak, but she did. “Of course we would come to see you; you’re part of the family. You too Blainers.” She said hugging them both.
Tina and Mike walked in next and of course Tina had been crying.
“K-Kurt are you ok-kay?” She asked in between sobs.
“I’m fine Tina. It’s good to see you.” He tried to smile.
Tina pulled him into a hug kissing him on the cheek.
Mike patted him on the back, “Sorry to hear about all this man, if you ever need to talk about we’re here for you.” He said simply.
“Thanks guys.” He replied.
Quinn walked in next, “Hey Kurt, how are you doing?” she asked sweetly giving him a gentle hug.
“I’m doing better.” He lied.
“That’s good.” She didn’t look around the room, only at him. It was clear she didn’t want to be in the same room as Finn and Rachel but she put that aside to come see him.
They were good friends, weren’t they?
Puck came in wheeling Artie next.
Artie waved and asked how he was doing, but Kurt was cut off by Puck wrapping his arms around his slender waist pulling him into a big hug.
“I’m so glad you’re okay!” Puck said happily. “I was so worried about you! You’re mah boy, Hummel. What would I do without you? I’m so glad to see you’re okay.” He said burying his face into Kurt’s neck.
“Hey Blaine!” he said cheerfully tousling Blaine’s hair while still not breaking the hug with Kurt.
“Thank you for your concern Noah, I’m okay.” He said smiling.
His friends really did care.
They sat talking for awhile, the girls filling Kurt in on the latest gossip-which unfortunately he was the top subject.
“Guys!!!” Sam yelled as he ran into the room. “Sorry I’m late.” He said breathlessly. He hugged Kurt, “glad you’re doing okay.” He said all at once. He was practically jumping up and down.
“What is it trouty mouth?” Santana asked.
“You’ll never believe what I just saw on the news!” He said excitedly. “Okay so Kurt, you’re case has been all over the news it’s a huge investigation-” he began.
“What?” Kurt questioned but was cut off by Sam’s talking.
“-So yeah, I was just watching television and it cut in with breaking news on your case. Karofsky came forward and confessed. With the DNA evidence, his confession, and all of our statements he’s going to jail for a long long time!” Sam said excitedly.
The room was filled with rejoicing.
“Karofsky’s going to jail, we’re getting out of the hospital, you’re going to get help, and things are getting better.” Blaine said to Kurt during all of the commotion.
Kurt didn’t respond. Blaine didn’t really expect him to. So he just kissed him on the cheek.
Kurt couldn’t help but wonder.
Things were getting better?
Was that even possible?
He guessed he’d find out.
The group decided it was getting late and they’d be heading out, they all hugged Kurt and Blaine goodbye and gave them their best wishes.
With that the room fell silent.
It was just Kurt and Blaine and Finn.
His mind kept playing over everything that had happened…his afternoon went from him in the bathroom cutting himself, to everyone telling him how better everything was.
Everything was not better.
In no way was it better.
But what they didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.
He could keep this hidden, and maybe things could be better.
It’d be in a very twisted way, but things would at least feel better.
He could hide that, he owed it to them.
He could go on pretending.
In reality he spent most of his life pretending.
Pretending he was okay was going to be easy for him; if anything it’d improve his acting skills.
“I’ll be right back.” Kurt stood suddenly and made his way to the bathroom.
He locked the door behind him and took a look in the mirror.
He could pretend.
He removed his shirt and picked up the razor blade he had hidden in the cabinet.
“Everything’s okay.” He told himself as he cut into his torso.
Comments
i really enjoy the story; however, they would never have razors in the room of someone on suicide watch, esp someine with a history of cutting. but its a story (and a good one at that)
Yes I'm aware of that, it was supossed to be like along with the stuff his faamily packed for him. Sorry if it didn't seem that way, I worte a lot of this story at like 3 in the morning so you can blame me for faulty mistakes in accuracy. Anyway I'm glad you like the story. Thank you for reading :)
