“Well Mr. Hummel, Kurt is alive. As for the beating he only suffered major bruising and two broken ribs but that’s not what we’re concerned about. He has a severe case of hypovolemia, or blood loss, but he’ll be okay. He was given a few blood transfusions and we were forced to stitch some of the deeper cuts. The tendons in both his arms were cut and we needed to do surgery to repair them. We also used surgery to repair the veins he cut. However his wrists only played a small part in his bleeding out. He severed his jugular vein and carotid artery from the cuts to his neck and that was probably the cause of the most blood loss.” A doctor explained.

“It was a miracle you found him when you did, young man.” The doctor said patting Blaine on the shoulder. “Had you found him, say five minutes later, he would have been gone. And it was also very smart of you try and stop the bleeding until help came. If it weren’t for you he would have died of Exsanguination.” He explained.

“Thank you Blaine.” Burt said pulling Blaine into a hug.

“Now this is the hard part, there was also a sign of rape.” The doctor said sadly.

“I think I know who did that to him. His name is David Karofsky. Right now you will find him upstairs in the psychiatric ward. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d done that.” Blaine said angrily.

The doctor called a nurse over and told her to call the police and get him stat.

“I still don’t understand how the hell they let him into the hospital.” Finn growled.

“Kurt said that the staff and the doctors have no idea why he was in jail. All they knew was that he was coming to them because his father used some plea of insanity and he got sent to there instead of jail.” Blaine explained.

“Why didn’t Kurt just tell them? He wasn’t safe.” Burt said sadly.

“He was going to but Karofsky threatened him. The only person he told was me. I have no idea how Karofsky found out.” Blaine cried. “Do-do you think it’s my fault? Do you think Karofsky did that because he told me?” Blaine cried.

No one said anything and Blaine cried more.

“Kurt’s awake now, if you guys wanted to go visit him. I can show you to his room.” The doctor said.

The room looked like a prison cell, there were bars over the window and about eight different locks on the door, and worst of all Kurt’s arms were strapped to the bed.

Kurt, oh God. He looked paler than usual if that was possible. He was crying softly, tears flowing from his unblackened eye. His lip was cut and swollen and he looked like he had just got the shit beat out of him. And then the cuts. There literally was not a surface area of his skin that wasn’t absolutely covered in angry red scars. Most of which covered in tape and gauze so he wouldn’t ripe the stitches out.

“Hi guys.” Kurt said sadly.

“Hey buddy, how are you?” Burt asked softly.

“Eh.” Kurt replied shrugging his shoulders but wincing in pain.

“Dude you have a black eye.” Finn said stupidly.

“Yes, that typically does occur when someone’s fist impacts your face and breaks the cartilage around your eye.” Kurt smiled. 

“Awwh sweetie!” Carole cried rushing over to hug him. But he couldn’t hug her back, because of the restraints holding him down.

“I don’t get it, I’m not too familiar with your gay kinks and stuff by why are you tied to the bed?” Finn laughed.

“I’m on suicide watch for a week.” Kurt explained. “Gay kinks? Really Finn? Really?” Kurt laughed fondly.

Blaine blushed embarrassedly and made his way over to Kurt’s bedside. “Hello love.” Blaine said kissing Kurt on the check.

“Oh Blaine, I’m so sorry. How could I have done this to you? I’m so stupid. I just I couldn’t take it anymore. I just wanted everything to go away; I wanted to end it all. I was selfish and I didn’t think about the pain I would cause all of you.” Kurt cried.

“It’s okay Kurt. You’re here with us now. That’s all that I care about. I love you.” Blaine smiled.

“You are too good to me. I love you too.” Kurt cried.

Blaine held Kurt’s hand, but Kurt wouldn’t hold it back.

“Sorry, the tendons in my arm. I can’t move my hand or fingers or anything.” Kurt explained.

“Oh, it’s okay.” Blaine said understanding, but not taking his hand away from Kurt.

“So guys, I’m really really sorry. I’m sorry for the hurt I caused all of you. However, I don’t wish I could take back what I did. I wanted that. I wanted to die. I’m just sorry for the hurt that I caused you in the process.” Kurt said tears rolling down everyone’s faces.

“I just can’t handle it anymore.” Kurt said angrily.

“Yes you can Kurt. You’re stronger than that. You need help. You were doing so much better until he showed up. They’re going to arrest him for real this time. You just need to tell them what he told you.” Blaine said softly. “And then you can get better. Do you think you can do that?” Blaine asks.

“I think I can.” Kurt smiled softly.

Blaine leaned over him and kissed him softly on the lips.

“You taste like coffee.” Kurt smiled.

“And you taste like blood.” Blaine laughed reaching over to wipe the blood from the cut on his lip.

“Ugghh I taste like Karofsky. I need to shower.” Kurt complained.

“Ew.” Blaine laughed.

“Ew is right.” Finn pretended to gag.

Normal conversation picked up, they laughed, and they carried on as usual.

Everything would work out.

In a week Kurt would be out of the hospital, he’d be able to return to the psychiatric ward because Karofsky would be in jail, he’d spend more time recovering, he’d get better, and he’d be released into the world and could live a normal life.

That’s all he wanted.

He could do it.

He could get better.

But thoughts still lingered over him: What if he couldn’t?
