“Well this just got awkward.” Blaine laughed.
“Holden, you know I’m with Blaine. It’s sweet that you like me, but are you sure that you just don’t like me because you want to be with someone and I’m the only openly gay person around you right now?” Kurt asked.
“No Kurt, I like you because you are you. I really like you. And like the song said this crush ain’t going away. You said if I wanted to win someone over I should sing to them, you said serenading people was romantic. I was trying to sing to you Kurt. I really like you.” Holden smiled.
“Holden, I’m dating Blaine.” Kurt reminded him hugging Blaine closer to his body.
“Fuck Blaine.” Holden frowned.
“Holden, is that why you don’t like Blaine? Because he’s dating me?” Kurt asks.
“Yeah. He doesn’t deserve you. You’re perfect Kurt. You deserve better.” Holden said angrily.
“Holden, I love Blaine.” Kurt replied.
“Well I love you.” Holden announced storming out of the room angrily.
“Holden, comeback. Don’t be upset. And don’t do anything stupid! Go talk to someone if you feel depressed!” Kurt yelled after him.
Holden turned back and looked at Kurt. “This is why I love you, you care about me. You don’t want me to hurt myself, because you care. You’re so caring and understanding.” Holden smiled.
“Holden, we both care about you. We don’t want you to see you do anything stupid. You’re a nice person. Now come back in so we can talk.” Kurt said calmly.
“Okay.” Holden said walking back into the room and sitting down on his bed.
Kurt and Blaine sat down on Kurt’s bed facing Holden. Blaine with his arm around Kurt’s waist and Kurt squeezing Blaine’s thigh reassuringly.
“Holden, you seem like a great guy. You’re kind, funny, attractive, smart, all those good qualities. You’ll find someone. You’ll fall in love, and the two of you will be happy together. But that person, it’s not me.” Kurt said simply.
“You’ll find love Holden. You shouldn’t worry about it. Mr. Right will come around in no time I assure you.” Blaine smiled trying to be friendly.
“I really care for you Holden, but just as a friend. A really great friend. And I want you to be happy. I don’t want to upset you, but we will never be together. I’m with Blaine, and I will be for the rest of my life.” Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine’s cheek.
“Do you understand?” Blaine asked.
Holden just shrugged his expression crestfallen.
“Do you want to sing about how you feel? It’ll make you feel better.” Blaine suggested.
“Blaine, singing isn’t the cure to everything.” Kurt laughed.
“No, I think I know the perfect song to express how I feel.” Holden smiled.
“Okay go ahead.” Kurt nodded.
Holden made his way over to where Kurt’s iPod was sitting and scrolled thru the song list until he came across the one he wanted.
“Hey, hey, you, you! I don’t like your girlfriend!” Holden sang glaring daggers at Blaine but smiling fondly at Kurt.
“No way! No way! I think you need a new one! Hey, hey, you, you, I could be your girlfriend!”
“Hey, hey, you, you! I know that you like me! No way! Now way! You know it’s not a secret. Hey, hey you, you! I want to be your girlfriend!”
“You’re so fine, I want you mine. You’re so delicious. I think about you all the time, you’re so addictive. Don’t you know what I can do to make you feel alright?” Holden sang moving over towards Kurt as he sang.
“Don’t pretend I think you know I’m damn precious. And hell yeah I’m the mother fuckin’ princess. I can tell you like me too and you know I’m right.” Holden sang getting closer to Kurt pushing his way in between him and Blaine.
“She’s like so whatever. You could do so much better. I think we should get together now! And that’s what everyone’s talking about!” Holden sang pushing Blaine to the floor.
“Hey, hey, you, you! I don’t like your girlfriend! No way! No way! I think you need a new one! Hey, hey, you, you, I could be your girlfriend!”
Holden songs was cut short when Blaine stood up and cut the music off.
“Oh hell no.” Blaine said angrily moving Holden away and sitting down next to Kurt wrapping his arms around him possessively.
“Blaine’s right. That was out of line.” Kurt growled holding Blaine closer.
“I wasn’t done my song.” Holden complained.
“Holden, I’m never going to date you. I’m with Blaine!” Kurt said angrily.
“I know.” Holden started crying. “I’m sorry; I just wish you could be with me.” Holden sobbed.
“It’s okay Holden.” Blaine tried comforting the boy.
“Holden, it’s okay. I’ll always be your friend. I didn’t mean to snap. You just need to understand that we’ll never be more than friends. Okay?” Kurt said patting the crying boys back.
“I guess I understand.” Holden cried.
“Holden, you’ll find someone someday.” Blaine tried to cheer him up.
“You think so?” He asked.
“Of course, I don’t see why not.” Blaine shrugged.
“Thank you Blaine. You’re not that bad. I’m sorry I was a jerk. Kurt does deserve someone as great as you.” Holden cried.
“Thanks, and you’re great too. You’ll find someone buddy.” Blaine said comfortingly.
“Thanks.” Holden said softly.
Kurt and Blaine shared loving glances as they comforted the broken hearted boy.
“Visiting hours ended about an hour ago, are you going to be okay with him if I leave?” Blaine whispered to Kurt.
“I think we’ll be fine. I’ll call you later.” Kurt kissed Blaine’s cheek.
“Bye babe. I love you.” Blaine kissed Kurt passionately.
“Talk to you tonight honey. It was wonderful seeing you again. I love you too.” Kurt said happily as Blaine kissed him again and walked out.
“Alright Holden, time to talk.” Kurt said sternly.
“I’m sorry about to today.” Holden cried.
“How long have you liked me?” Kurt asked.
“Since I met you.” Holden answered truthfully.
“But you knew I was with Blaine?” Kurt replied.
“Yes I did, that’s why I hated him.” Holden said shyly.
“But you guys are cool now?” Kurt asked.
“Yeah, I guess we’re okay.” Holden shrugged. “Is he mad at me for liking you?” Holden asked worriedly.
“No, no. He’s not mad. We were both just more so worried about how you’d react to the rejection.” Kurt said honestly.
“So there’s absolutely no chance for us?” Holden asked, not really a question. Just conformation.
“Correct, I will always be with Blaine.” Kurt answered.
“Okay.” Holden sighed.
“But don’t worry, you’ll find someone.” Kurt patted him on the shoulder.
“I hope so.” Holden said softly.
“I’m sure you will.” Kurt reassured him.
“Thanks Kurt, you’re a good friend.” Holden smiled.
