Blaine sat with Kurt on his bed for a few hours, not moving, just holding his boyfriend in his arms and letting him cry.
The silence was broken when Finn burst through the doors after football practice. It appeared as if he rushed home because typically he wouldn’t be home for another half an hour at least, and he still had his sweaty football gear on.
“Dude! What the fuck happened?!? You skip last period. You show up to glee all bloody and shit. And you won’t tell anybody anything. What happened?” Finn started yelling as he entered the room and saw Blaine holding Kurt. “Oh hi Blaine.” He said awkwardly.
“Hey Finn, sit down Kurt will explain.” Blaine began. But Kurt shut him a look of worry and fear and started to mumble something that sounded like “I can’t tell. He’ll kill me. He’ll kill youuuuu.” Blaine understood but he knew if they wanted to fix anything they’d have to fill Finn in.
Finn, being as confused as ever, just stared blankly around the room until his eyes came across the holes and broken sheetrock above Kurt’s head. And his eyes fell on Blaine and Kurt’s intertwined hands and the swollen and bloody state of Kurt’s knuckles.
Finn couldn’t help but laugh; sure he and Kurt had only been stepbrothers for a few months now, but he had known Kurt since freshman year and there was no way Kurt did that to the wall.
“Why are you laughing?” Blaine asked looking more confused than Finn.
“Oh that” Kurt said dryly as Finn made obnoxious gestures towards the wall behind him. “Yeah. I had a pretty rough day. And I kind of lost it. A little. Or okay a lot. I lost it a lot.” Kurt explained.
“Woah, Kurt has an angry side.” Finn said feigning fear but smiling too hard to be taken seriously.
“So are you going to tell me what happened or not?” Finn asked after a few minutes of silence.
“Kurt, I really think you should tell Finn what happened.” Blaine said with pleading eyes.
“Ugghh fine.” Kurt groaned.
Then Kurt told Finn everything that had happened that day and why he missed class and why he looked so bad in glee club and why he couldn’t tell anyone what happened. And he made Finn swear that he wouldn’t tell a soul, because this could never get out, no one could ever know.
Finn understood and he promised not to tell.
“So after all that are you okay?” Finn asked genuinely concerned.
“Yeah, I guess I’m fine.” Was all Kurt could say.
“Kurt? Just let Blaine here or me know if you know, you’re not okay. Okay? ‘Cuz we care about you. Okay?”
“Okay.” Kurt said simply. “And thanks.” He added after a moments thought.
“What for? You know we’ll always be there for you! I mean am I right Blaine?”
“Yeah Finn. Kurt, we’ll always be there for you. Let me know if you wanna talk. Okay?” Blaine reassured.
“Okay.” Kurt answered.
“So I have off school tomorrow because of some Dalton legacy tradition thingy, so you want me to come to McKinley with you kick his ass?” Blaine asked only somewhat joking.
“Blaine, you’re like part of this family, and I love you to death-” Finn started “-but no offence. You’re kind of small. And well he could like pick you up and throw you, or or snap you like a twig, or something like that.” Finn said laughing to himself.
“You don’t think I’m tough?” Blaine asked Finn in a fake hurt tone.
“Sweetie, you’re already my knight in shining armor you don’t need to protect me more than you already do.” Kurt said sweetly cutting off Blaine and Finn’s stupid banter that was going nowhere.
“Awwh thanks Kurt.” Blaine said giving Kurt a kiss on the cheek.
“You guys are gross.” Finn said pretending to vomit.
“What do I have to beat you AND Karofsky up?” Blaine asked jokingly.
“No not like gross because it’s two guys. Because I’m totally fine with that. Not that I’d do that with another guy. But I mean that it’s not bad to be with another guy. I mean I just wouldn’t. Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Or with you guys. You guys are a-okay in my book. Oh my God, I’m rambling. Umm you know what I’m trying to say. Ughh I meant gross as in like you guys are so lovey dovey and sweet I’m like getting a cavity from watching you two. It had nothing to do with your sexuality or how you guys both like guys. Because that’s okay. Well some people might not be okay with that. But I am. Wait I don’t mean I am like I am gay. But I am like I am okay with you being gay. Not just you per say but other people too. Like Rachel’s dads, did you know they’re gay? There really nice. I think you’d like them. Umm not because they’re gay and you’re gay but because they’re nice. And I’m sorry-”Finn stumbled trying to explain himself but with no avail.
“FINN STOPPP!!!!!” Kurt cut him off. “I got what you meant the first time. You’re rambling. Now stop talking. Okay? Kurt asked.
“Sorry.” Finn mumbled again as he started to stand up to walk away.
“You should have let him keep going, I wanted to see how long that would go on for.” Blaine said laughing.
“Hahaha I think he was starting to forget to breathe.” Kurt said while he uncontrollably laughed.
“I feel bad for messing with him, but it’s just so funny to watch him stammer when he gets all confused.” Blaine said only half sorry.
“I know right? But he means well.” Kurt said sweetly.
“I know, it’s just sometimes he can be a little-”
“-slow?” Kurt finished for him
“Yeah.” Blaine said sighing.
“So you’re off tomorrow?” Kurt asked changing the subject.
“Yup. Why?”
“Just curious.”
“Curiosity killed the cat, you know.”
“Really Blaine? Really? Why do I love you?”
“I don’t know Kurt, maybe you just use me for my dashing good looks and my amazing body.”
“Or maybe just you’re humor.”
“Hey! I’m sexy and you know it.”
“Oh god, please don’t start to sing. I cannot take any singing today.”
“It’ll make you feel better…”
“No Blaine.”
“Well…When I walk on by, Kurt be looking damn he fly. I pimp to the beat, walking down the street in my new lafreak, yeah. This is how I roll, animal print pants outta control, its Blaine boy with the gelled down fro. And like Bruce Leroy I got the glow. Ah…Kurt look at my body, Ah…Kurt look at my body, Ah…Kurt look at my body—“ Blaine started singing into Kurt’s ear trying to contain his laughter.
“You think you’re clever. Change a few words around and you think you’re some stud” Kurt teased.
“Well I am, you wanna know why?” Blaine giggled.
“Why.” Kurt sighed, not even making it a question.
“Ah…I work out.” Blaine sang and laughed uncontrollably.
“Oh my god, I should have seen that coming. You’re such a dork.” Kurt teased, playing with the curls that began to fall out of his gelled hair.
“You love me.” Blaine teased.
“Only sometimes.”
“Pffttt….Only sometimes?!? I am hurt!” Blaine joked playfully pushing Kurt off of him.
“Just kidding. I’ll always love you Blaine Anderson.” Kurt said cuddling back into Blaine’s arms.
“Yeah, you’re pretty okay yourself.” Blaine teased as Kurt hit his shoulder. “Nah, I’ll always love you babe.” He said reassuringly.
“Good.” Kurt said happily.
Oh Blaine, Blaine made everything better. He could always cheer up Kurt no matter what. Kurt often wondered what he would do without his adorably sweet boyfriend to make his world better, but he would shiver and try not to imagine that.
As long as Kurt had Blaine, there was a ray of hope, things might actually get better.
Maybe.
Hopefully.
“I wish I had off tomorrow too, I don’t wanna go back there knowing I could be spending all day with you.” Kurt sighed.
“I know, but I’ll be here when you get back and if you need me during the day all you have to do is call. I’m staying with my aunt in Lima so I won’t be that far away.”
“Okey dokey, sounds good to me.” Kurt said cheerfully. So we’ve got three or so hours before my dad or Carole get’s home, what do you wanna do?” Kurt asked with a seductive wink.
“Hmmm let me think.” Blaine said as he pushed Kurt down and move so he was lying over top straddling him.
He pressed an open mouth kiss onto Kurt’s lips and Kurt immediately opened his lips along Blaine’s tongue entrance.
The kissed wet and sloppily for awhile then it turned into something more passionate and desperate.
Yup, with Blaine here the world was looking a little better. Still nowhere near good, but a little better.
