Author's Notes: Warnings mentions of eating disorder

Finn and I played a couple more games until his stepdad walked into the house and Finn paused the game.

“Hey Finn, how’d try outs go? Oh I didn’t mean to interrupt, who’s your friend?” he asked.

“Hey Burt, I made the team. This is Blaine. He’ll be going to McKinley this year. He’s on the football team with me and the guys.” He explained as I stood up to greet him.

“Hello Sir, I’m Blaine Anderson. You have a lovely home. I hope you don’t mind but Finn invited me to join your family for dinner.” I said extending my hand.

He shook my hand and smiled. “Well kid, it’s nice to meet ya.” He smiled and looked at Finn, “You sure he ain’t one of Kurt’s friends, this boy has manners.” He laughed fondly.

I smiled and Finn laughed.

“Hey dad, how was work?” Kurt asked stepping out of the kitchen.

“Hey kiddo. It was good.” He shrugged and sat down in the living room.

“That’s good. Are you and Carole all packed for your trip?” Kurt asked sweetly.

“Yup, we’ll probably leave right after dinner.” He shrugged.

They continued small talk for awhile until Finn’s mom came in and they all said hi to her.

“How are my boys doing?” She asked sweetly.

They all responded and then she looked at me “Oh you must be Finn’s little football buddy!” She cooed and pulled me into a hug.

“Hello Mrs. Hudson. I’m Blaine Anderson.” I said extending my hand for her to shake.

“Well aren’t you adorable! You can call me Carole.” She smiled. “Kurt, sweetie, do you need help with dinner?” She asked.

“No thanks Carole. I’ve got it under control, you can just relax.” He smiled.

After a few minutes of small talk with Carole and Burt, Kurt said dinner was ready and we all joined him in the dining room. It was set up so nice and the food smelt absolutely delicious. Burt sat at the head of the table and Carole sat at his side. Finn sat next to his mom and I sat next to Kurt on the other side.

Dinner was delicious, Kurt was an amazing cook. They’re little family was adorable. They each asked each other about one another’s day and they even included me in the discussion. It was so comfortable.

“Finn, Kurt. I think we should go over some ground rules for while your mother and I are away.” Burt smiled.

They just smiled and looked up at him.

“No parties.” He said coldly.

I looked at both of them panicked but they stayed calm. Kurt looked at Finn and Finn nodded.

“Like I’d let Finn throw a party. Come on dad, I’m responsible.” Kurt laughed.

“You’re right. Both of you are very responsible and I trust you completely. I just need to go over the standard rules.” He shrugged.

“We understand.” Finn nodded.

“Secondly, Finn no girls.” Carole said sternly.

“That’s no fair! Kurt can have girls over but I can’t?!?” He said glaring at Kurt.

Kurt just laughed. “If Kurt has girls over he’s not going to do inappropriate things.” Carole blushed.

“Same goes for you kiddo, no guys.” Burt added.

“I don’t even know any gay guys.” Kurt laughed. “You forget that I’m forever alone.” He teased.

“I’m just stating the rules, I know you both are mature and won’t break them I just need to remind you.” Burt smiled.

“We’ll behave.” Kurt smiled.

“You’ve got our word.” Finn added.

“Alright, I trust you guys.” Burt smiled.

These two were amazing actors I had to give them props. I’m just glad he didn’t ask me any questions, I’m terrible at lying.

When we were finished eating I helped Kurt clean up while Finn helped put his parents’ bags in the car.

I was humming softly as I did dishes and Kurt put food away and Kurt looked up and smiled at me.

He smiled at me!!!!

His smile made my heart do flips, this boy was absolutely perfect.

“I’ve seen you before.” He smiled.

“Huh?” I asked confused.

“You’re the lead singer of the Warblers! We competed against you guys last year. You have an amazing voice.” He smiled.

“Why thank you Kurt.” I laughed.

“You should go out for the New Directions; they’d love to have you.” He smiled.

“I was thinking about joining the glee club. My friends from football are all in it.” I smiled.

“Yeah, there really nice guys. You’ll meet the rest of the group at the party tomorrow. Although I’m sure they won’t leave a very good first impression. They can’t hold there alcohol.” He laughed fondly.

We both laughed and Finn walked back into the kitchen. “Alright, goodbyes and then the missions on.” He smiled.

“Bye dad, bye Carole. Drive safely; call us when you get there.” Kurt said hugging both of them.

“Bye guys.” Finn said hugging each of them.

“It was nice meeting the two of you, have a nice trip.” I said awkwardly.

“Bye boys. We’ll see you next week.” Carole smiled.

“Bye.” Burt smiled. He pulled Finn to the side for a minute as Carole and Kurt were hugging.

I was standing right next to Burt so I was a little confused when he whispered to Finn, “Make sure he eats.” It didn’t really make sense. I guess I’ll ask Finn later.

A few minutes after they left Finn and I started moving furniture around and setting up a make-shift bar in the kitchen while Kurt ran to the liquor store.

“Hey Finn?” I asked after we pretty much had everything set up.

“Yeah?” He asked setting out some cups and napkins.

“Why did your stepdad mean when he said make sure he eats?” I asked nervously.

“Oh, you didn’t notice at dinner? He’s battling anorexia. That’s why he’s so skinny and that’s why everyone always asks how he’s doing.” Finn sighed.

“Is that why he runs so much?” I asked.

“Yeah. He started running when the bullying became really bad and his depression started. He was in a dark place but running made him feel better. When things got worse he stopped eating and now it’s gotten to the point he doesn’t want to eat and won’t eat. It led to some body image problems and now he refuses to eat and when he does he’ll go run it off. He’s gotten better but we always watch him.” Finn shrugged.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” I said sadly.

“Yeah, only the glee kids know.” He explained.

“Is he okay though?” I asked concerned.

“I think he’ll be okay.” Finn said.

End Notes: TBC.
