Chapter 1: Youre very welcome into my life
Kurt exhaled lightly. He was a little nervous. He and Blaine were heading to a diner called ‘Papaya'. He said the food there was amazing, so amazing that even Oreo Milka couldn't stand next to it. Dork.
They were heading there to meet Blaine's friends. Of course Kurt tried to decline the nice invitation, excusing himself for not wanting to disturb and take away the time they spent with each other. Blaine thought it was ridiculous. Didn't Kurt see that he was already his friend and that it would be truly offensive. Honestly, yesterday when he came back to his house he sort of told his friends about Kurt in a group chat and they were kind of expecting him. So even if Kurt had some sort of business he'd still have to meet them sooner or later.
The walk to the hospital went by quickly and Kurt listened as Blaine told him about his friends. He was so happy for them. Blaine just couldn't stop gushing. They seemed like they were all really close and he envied that. He doesn't really have any close friends back at Lima.
Thankfully, no one had taken Blaine's phone slash wallet and someone had brought it to the reception as a ‘lost and found' item. It was nice that there still were people like that. Getting the phone was easy because all the lady had to do there was check Blaine's documents.
‘'Maybe I should just head straight to my aunt's shop?'' Kurt suggested. ‘'I really don't want to disturb you guys.''
‘'Relax, Kurt,'' Blaine snickered. ‘'I know why you may be nervous but trust me, they won't mind even a little if you join us.''
Kurt nodded. He was sure that the people that hung out with Blaine had to be amazing, just like the curly haired boy was.
Papaya actually was a really cool place. It sort of felt like he was home each passing moment, the closer he got to the diner.
Four boys were sitting at a table on the terrace and Blaine waved to them. ‘'Hey!''
‘'Who's this cutie?'' Jeff asked, wiggling his eyebrows but he already knew the answer.
Blaine rolled his eyes. ‘'I'm Kurt Hummel.'' The boy answered with flushing cheeks.
‘'That's Jeff, that's Nick, that's Sam and that's Anthony, Nick's boyfriend.''
As Blaine told each of their names, they waved their hand. Kurt already liked these guys. Two of them apparently were gay so obviously they don't mind. If they'd let him, he'd gladly stick around. Friends was just what he needed.
‘'Come, sit.'' Jeff tapped the free chair beside him and Kurt took it with a smile. Blaine lightly pouted. He wanted to sit next to Kurt but since the table had two chairs on each side, he joined next to Sam.
‘'Do you live in Miami? Ive never seen you around'' the really cure brunette boy Anthony asked after sipping his juice.
‘'No, actually,'' Kurt shook his head. ‘'I'm here for a vacation of sorts. I came to visit my aunt and just to get out of Lima.''
‘'Ohio, huh?!''
Kurt nodded at Nick.
‘'I'm gonna get something to eat. Do you want anything?'' Blaine asked his new friend while getting up. Kurt just now realized he hadn't eaten anything yet. He prepared his aunt some lunch but forgot about himself. He smiled and nodded. ‘' Just get me what you'll get. I will give you the-‘'
‘'It's on me.'' Blaine said and went inside before Kurt could argue.
‘'It's so nice of you that you agree to hang out with me. I've been here for only a couple days but it's nice to have some company still.''
‘'No prob, dude. Blaine told us we'd like you. He said you were cool,'' Sam told him, chewing his sandwich and burping afterwards, making all the boys chuckle.
‘'Did he huh?'' Kurt asked with a blush. As far as he remembered he wasn't too welcoming to the boy the other day. ‘'He didn't seem so happy when I beat his Flappy Bird high score.'' He smiled proudly. That easy victory won him an Oreo Milka.
‘'Are you serious?'' Nick coughed when he choked on his soda. ‘'He spent like a month to get to 67. Man!''
Sam was laughing and tapping Kurt's shoulder just as Blaine came out the diner with two plates. ‘'I see you're getting along.''
‘'I like him,'' Nick pointed his straw at the blue eyed boy.
‘'Do you have a boyfriend?'' Anthony asked.
‘'He almost did. Said the boy was too clingy.'' Blaine answered for him, placing a plate with a veggie burger and side salad in front of Kurt.
‘'Ouch.''
‘'It sounds like I'm mean now.'' Kurt frowned.
‘'Nah, you're such a sweet little munchkin,'' Blaine said in a baby voice, earning a punch in the shoulder and making the others laugh.
‘'What are we doing after?'' Sam asked. ‘'Hey! We should definitely go surfing.''
‘'Yeah, I haven't surfed in ages, man.'' Blaine said and took a bite of his own burger. ‘'I may be a little rusty so don't laugh.''
‘'You wanna come with?'' Jeff asked Kurt.
He did want to go. Not to go surfing because...just no. It's wet and just...wet and won't do any good to his hair. Anyway, his balance was crap. But he didn't want to be rude either.
‘'Sure. Maybe I'll just join you later.'' Kurt answered. ‘'I have to bring lunch to my aunt.''
‘'We can totally drive you there, then head to the beach together,'' Sam said and the others nodded.
‘'There's this party...''Jeff begun but stopped at mid-sentence and turned to Blaine. ‘'Can I invite him?''
‘'Go ahead.'' Blaine chuckled.
Jeff's face brightened like a sun. ‘'There's this party in a few days. Blaine's girlfriend turns seventeen. You'd like to come''
Kurt smiled as Jeff began but then his world crashed from the inside. Well, he has failed yet again. Starting to crush on a straight boy was what he did the best. ‘'Umm...sure if you don't mind and will keep me company.''
‘'Yes!'' Jeff and Nick high fived. ‘'It'll be fun.''
Blaine looked at Kurt's expression the whole time, he couldn't deny that he saw the little bit of disappointment in Kurt's eyes. He licked his lips and took another bite of his burger.
‘'I have a single, hot cousin,'' Anthony started and looked at Kurt. ‘'I can totally hook you two up for a date.''
Blaine was looking down at his plate but he perked his ears for Kurt's response.
Kurt stammered a little. Oh what the heck. He came here to have some fun and get out of the judgemental town. He was allowed to explore and finally date someone. Blaine had a girlfriend anyway. ‘'Sure. Why not.''
Blaine wanted to object but knew better. There was no good reason to forbid Kurt of doing something, even if he had a weird urge of wanting to protect the boy. He didn't want to but had to admit that Anthony's cousin was a good guy. He hasn't spent a lot of time with him but from what he heard from Anthony, he was okay.
Kurt glanced through the diner's window and what he saw made him chuckle. This would be fun.
‘'Hello, losers,'' Becky said, placing her hands on her hips after coming out the diner to the terrace. ‘'My mom told me you're my friends now.''
Jeff spit a little of his coke out while Nick laughed and Sam sat with his mouth open. What was the crazy girl talking?
Of course everyone at this table knew this girl. Jeff even used to babysit her.
‘'What are you talking about Becky?'' Sam asked completely confused. They haven't had a single girl in their group of friends yet.
‘'Haven't you told them anything Blaine?'' Kurt was curious and arched an eyebrow, not being able to hold down his grin.
Blaine rolled his eyes. ‘'I sort of owned her that one, guys,'' he looked apologetic and then mouthed. ‘'Sorry.''
‘'I saw that, wanker,'' Becky reproved. She didn't sign up for this. She'd have to teach them a lesson or two. ‘'So, where are we going after you stuff your fat asses?''
Blaine sighed and answered since his friends were still absolutely dumbfounded. ‘'Meet us in about an hour at the beach.''
Becky looked pleased and went back into the diner.
‘'Dude, why?!'' Jeff asked. Although the girl wasn't bad, she wasn't good either. He just didn't understand this whole situation. It's not like he was mad, he couldn't be when Kurt was smirking all the time, but Becky was an annoying girl. Like the one baby who would cry on the bus the whole time. That annoying.
‘'Look, it's a long story.''
‘'That's what you told us yesterday. We have time,'' Nick said and sipped his drink.
‘'Ooh, Nick has sass,'' Kurt said, making the company laugh.
‘'I just may or may not have ran over her mom.''
‘'Almost,'' Kurt added.
‘'Oh my god, is she okay?'' Anthony asked.
‘'Yeah,'' the curly haired boy shrugged. ‘'I didn't hit her, she just ran into my car and then fell and dislocated her arm. We took her to the hospital. Kurt's her neighbor.''
‘'Aww! That's how you two met, isn't it?'' Jeff said putting some sarcastic girly voice in the sentence. He smirked when Kurt wiggled his eyebrows. Blaine didn't miss it and chuckled.
...
It was almost five when they finally arrived at the beach. They spent way too much time at the diner, Blaine wasn't lying when he said Sam and Jeff could eat all day if they'd have the chance to. But somehow Kurt and Anthony managed to convince all the other boys to go. Besides, Becky would be angry as hell. Who would know what she can do when she's mad. He took lunch to his aunt witch was more like dinner but it didn't matter, his aunt was happy.
Apparently, the group of boys who surfed kept their surfboards at a Beach Club nearby because it was way more handy than to go to everyones house to get the stuff they needed. Jeff, Sam and Nick went into the water straight away. Anthony was going to talk to someone at the Beach Club and that left Kurt and Blaine.
Kurt sat on a towel he had placed on the sand, Blaine sitting next to him looking down the shore with his hands on his crossed legs.
Kurt could admit this was the most beautiful night since he was in Miami. The sunset was so breathtaking even if it was only a little passed five, the sun was coloring the sky in incredible colors. Orange, lavender, light blue...
‘'It's so pretty pink, isn't it?'' Blaine said and Kurt looked at him. The other boy still was looking straight ahead with a small smile on his lips. ‘'It reminds me of my favorite donuts.''
Kurt laughed and shook his head. ‘'You really don't have to sit here with me, Blaine. I'm sure Anthony will be right back. He's been gone for like twenty minutes.''
Blaine looked at him and sought any signs that the boy was just being polite and not honest. Kurt smiled at the hopeful but worried expression. ‘'Seriously. I heard you haven't surfed in a while and I would understand that you would go. I miss my dad, for example.''
Blaine looked at his hands again but smirked. ‘'That is not the same thing, I think.''
Kurt playfully pushed him by his shoulder and smiled. ‘'Don't be such a smartass. You're friends are expecting you. I'm not a little kid left alone in a supermarket. I'll be fine.''
Blaine glanced at him again and seemed torn. He didn't want to leave Kurt alone but at the same time he didn't want to seem clingy.
Blaine looked like a lost puppy, glancing between him and the water so Kurt gave him an encouraging stare. ‘'Go, Blaine! Please.''
Blaine exhaled but made a move to get up. ‘'Fine. But only because you asked so nicely.'' Kurt smiled. ‘'Next time, you'll learn too so I don't have to leave you behind.''
Blaine walked away slowly, laughing at Kurt's not gonna happen face and turned around to go to the Beach Club after his board.
Kurt sighed and sat back on his palms, enjoying the evening. He looked over the beach until he saw three of the boys surfing and laughed a little when Jeff touched Sam's butt, making him fall off his board.
He turned his head to his side and saw a little girl building a sandcastle next to her mother who was sitting with crossed legs and reading a magazine, smiling each time she glanced at the little black haired girl.
He remembers building a sandcastle once in his life when his family went to Chicago for a trip. It was when his mother was still alive. It made him smile at the warm memory. He loved remembering little things like this.
He was pulled out of his day dream when he was tapped on the shoulder. He let out a little squeak of surprise and turned only to see Anthony and a boy he didn't know standing next to him. He blushed as the two of them laughed.
‘'Hey, Kurtsie,'' Anthony said when Kurt stood up and kept his gaze at the other boy. He was really cute. He was very similar to Anthony though his hair was a little longer and lighter, his body a little more defined and toned. He noticed the formal outfit the boy was wearing, a white dress shirt tucked into black formal pants. It seemed too hot for an outfit like that.
‘'Um, this is my cousin, Felix,'' Anthony introduced. ‘'Felix, this is my friend Kurt. The one I told you about.''
Kurt blushed for two reasons. Firstly, he was so grateful these boys were already considering him a friend even if they barely knew him, only for a few hours, except for Blaine of course. Second, this cute boy had been talking to Anthony about him. Woah. Something like this never happened back at Lima.
‘'Nice to meet you,'' the boy Felix took his hand and slowly shook it. Kurt's mouth was a little open and he nodded, smiled when he realized he shouldn't make a fool of himself.
Blaine was just walking out the Beach Club with his board and surfing costume on and looked over to where he and Kurt had been sitting. He had felt a bit like crap to leave Kurt alone since he was new here and it was no fun being on a beach all alone. Though he wasn't alone. He saw Anthony and his cousin Felix shaking hands with Kurt for a really long time, not like the usual handshakes.
He tried not to make a too big deal of it and just acted friendly, waving over to the boys and smiling when Anthony's cousin waved back and Kurt looked at him to see who Felix was waving to. Blaine didn't miss the gorgeous smile Kurt sent him when the boy noticed him.
‘'I will go join the other's if you both don't mind,'' Anthony raised his eyebrows at Kurt in question.
‘'Of course,'' Kurt said. Oh my he would be left alone with Felix.
Both of them watched as Felix's cousin walked to the Beach Club and when they couldn't see his anymore Felix turned back to Kurt and smiled. ‘'So, do you want to get ice cream, maybe?''
Felix gestured with his head behind Kurt and he turned to see the little ice cream stand not very far away.
‘'Sure,'' Felix smiled at Kurt's definite answer. They turned to head to the stand and started walking slowly, enjoying the comparatively quiet evening. The sun was shining beautifully, coloring the sky in many warm shades. Kurt really loved the beach and now he basically lived on one.
‘'Anthony told me you're from Ohio.'' Felix began, looking down at his flip flops but then looked at the other boy. ‘'Did you move or-‘'
‘'No,'' Kurt shook his head. ‘'I don't really know for how long I'm here. I didn't move here. Just visiting my aunt. Trying to get out of Lima, honestly.''
‘'I can understand that.'' The brunette nodded and slid his hands in his pockets. ‘'I used to live in a small town, too. My mom decided to be closer to family after he and my father divorced, her sister lives here. But I haven't been here quite as long either. Maybe a year and a few months.''
‘'I'm sorry for your parents.''
‘'No, it's fine,'' he shrugged. ‘'They're better off, honestly. Long story short, they've been on and off all my childhood so I was used to moving and them separating. This time it's for real though.''
‘'Do you miss your dad?'' Kurt asked. ‘'I've been here for three days and I miss my dad like crazy.''
Felix smiled at that but shrugged again. ‘'Not really. I mean I do but my mom and I were always closer. Dad was never really home and stuff. So yeah... What I do miss is my friends. I had really nice friends. We went to the school choir together.''
‘'Oh, I go to my school's glee club,'' Kurt said happily. He loved that place. It was when he could be himself and not worry about other people unlike all the other times at McKinley. ‘'I really love singing. I dream about going to New York someday. To Broadway...''
By this point they had reached the ice cream stand and now waited in the small line. Kurt was now looking at his hands, lost in his thoughts a little but when he looked up he saw Felix smiling at him nicely. ‘'I wish I could take you to Broadway someday.''
Kurt felt his face heat up and his mouth opened and closed at not knowing how to respond. Felix chuckled and stepped one step forward in the line, Kurt standing where he was still in astonishment. No one had flirted with him this openly and in public at that.
Kurt was about to say something when a girl came up to Felix and placed her hand on his shoulder. The boy turned to her and smiled. ‘'Hey!''
‘'Hi!'' She responded back. ‘'What are you up to?''
‘'I'm buying ice cream and...trying to get to know someone actually.''
The girl was very beautiful. She was sort of the typical beach girl straight out of a magazine. She had long brown hair that was a little wavy from the beach, sun kissed skin and a really nice outfit, Kurt had to admit.
She then looked at Kurt standing next to Felix awkwardly and then it came to her. ‘'Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't want to disturb your date!'' She looked apologetic and bit her lower lip.
‘'I-It's not quite a date. It's okay,'' Kurt responded for Felix. The boy glanced at Kurt and then back to the girl, deciding he would have to change that fact.
‘'Uh, Vanessa, this is Kurt. Kurt this is Vanessa. She's Blaine's girlfriend,'' Felix introduced them both. Kurt raised his eyebrows a bit, having forgotten the fact since Blaine was being so flirty with him all the time. Guess he just was that way.
He smiled at the girl and shook her hand as Felix continued. ‘'Kurt's new here. He actually is everyone's new friend. By everyone I mean the dorks.''
‘'The dorks!'' Felix and Vanessa said at the same time and laughed.
‘'It's nice to meet you, Kurt.'' Kurt nodded and responded with the same.
‘'What are you ordering?'' The guy behind the stand asked.
‘'Vanilla, please,'' Kurt said immediately. There was just no other flavor he ate. At any dessert almost.
‘'Why don't you take strawberry, stud?'' Vanessa playfully elbowed Felix, talking in a low voice. Kurt heard her laugh when the boy obviously shivered and grimaced.
Kurt had to admit he kind of felt out of his place here, it seemed like everyone knew everyone and he knew nothing. They've obviously been around each other and were friends. Vanessa seemed to notice his mood and focused on him now.
‘'He has this weird thing with strawberries,'' the brunette said with a chuckle. ‘'i don't know why but he just gags at them. I remember one time me and the guys somehow managed to feed him strawberry ice cream and he was puking all evening. Jeff, who's idea it was in the first place, pleaded for forgiveness for days.''
Kurt laughed. He could totally see that happening. ‘'I remember this one time puking at my school back in Ohio. Even more, on my guidance counselor. It was horrible. All because one lady fed alcohol to me. Obviously my body wasn't quite accepting.''
Vanessa chuckled and shook her head. ‘'Blaine texted me and said he'd be hanging with the boys today so I'll just go and not bother you two.''
‘'It's oka-‘'
‘'Yeah, yeah,'' Vanessa waved her hand. ‘'Say it all you want. I know you want to be left alone. This guy is catch.'' She whispered the last part to him and winked, making Kurt laugh. This girl wasn't bad at all.
She was backing away but then pointed her finger as if remembering something. ‘'Oh, I have a birthday party in a few days. The boys are definitely coming and you're invited too. Come if you like. And you too, punk.'' She pointed at Felix and said a little louder with a pointy glare. That guy never really showed up at parties.
‘'See ya later!'' She waved to both of them.
Kurt kind of didnt want to admit it but she seemed like a really cool girl, Blaine really knew how to find one. It sort of stung him with a little jealousy and he didnt want it to be there. Blaine was a taken boy. Besides, he shouldnt be looking for a relationship in Miami anyway. He was here for the summer only and he wasnt the summer fling type of guy.
Here you go, Kurt jumped a little, being disturbed from his thoughts when Felix handed him his vanilla ice cream.
Oh, thank you.
For the next half an hour both of the boys sat on the beach towel Kurt and Blaine previously occupied, talking, eating their ice cream and enjoying the warm evening overall.
Kurt liked Felix. He could be a really nice friend. He was a very good listener and wasnt judgmental. Plus, he was funny and they basically had the same type of humor. Though not the fashion taste. Kurt just couldnt forget the guy had flip flops on for goodness sake.
Every now and then he would search for Blaine in the waves and he could swear almost every time Blaine was shooting daggers at them. Kurt wasnt close enough to tell if it was true or not so he just shrugged it off, it was probably his imagination, trying to make something out of things that werent there.
Guys, I...think I want to go out, Blaine said to Nick and Sam, all of them were just sitting on their surfboards.
Nick maybe didnt notice but Sam definitely did. Blaine spent more time observing Kurt and Anthonys cousin talking than he spent time surfing. And Blaine loved surfing. A little less than sleep but still. He hadnt surfed in a long time because of his strict schedule but Sam could tell he wasnt enjoying his time for some reason. That some reason had to do something with the boy he had met yesterday.
Sam saw Nick open his mouth, probably to disagree but Sam beat him to the punch. Yeah, okay. Do you want to hang out maybe?
Blaine nodded, not tearing his eyes away from Kurt and Felix. He saw Felix glance at him so he whipped his head to look at his friends. Sure. My step-dads probably not home so we can go to my place.
He saw the boys nod and start to swim in the direction of the coast.
Hey, flip flop, Kurt stopped laughing at a joke Felix said and turned to the other side. It was Becky with her arms crossed on her chest. Where are the studs?
Kurt was staring in confusion at the nickname but pointed to the beach. When Becky turned her head and smiled, Kurt looked too where the boys were coming out of the water. And Kurt gulped a little. He didnt really notice previously since he was occupied with his non-date but now he could truly admire the surfing costume Blaine had on. It was black with a few dark blue accent stripes by the sides and on the arms. It was hugging his body so tightly it didnt really leave anything to the imagination. He caught himself staring and looked back at Becky.
Hey, you jerks, Becky kicked her foot and some sand flew and stuck onto to Sams surfing attire, making him raise his brows. Ive been calling you. Searching all around the beach for you.
Sorry Becky, Nick played apologetic and Jeff smirked at Beckys fuming expression.
So what are we doing now? she asked and most of them looked at Blaine who was switching his stare between his hands and Kurt, still sitting on the towel with Felix.
Sam waited for Blaine to answer but they saw that no answer was coming so he filled in the silence instead. Were going to Blaines place.
Are you coming? Blaine asked Kurt silently.
Of course, he said without hesitation and then awkwardly turned to Felix.
Me? Oh, no, I still have to work a little bit, he then stood up and rubbed his hands together to get off the sand that had stuck to them. It was really nice to meet you, Kurt. Ill see you soon.
Blaine noticed it wasnt I hope to see you soon it was I will see you soon.
Kurt nodded and blushed, rubbing his knees with his palms. Felix then winked at Kurt and looked at his cousin. Thank you, bro.
No problem, Anthony shrugged. He was glad to help.
Blaine let out a small sigh of relief when Felix was out of his sight. So, are we all heading to my place now?
Im actually gonna take my boyfriend out for a date, Nick linked his elbow with Anthonys. They both blushed at the ooohs the other gave them.
They all headed to dress back to their regular clothes and headed to Blaines place after saying goodbye to the two love birds.
.....
Blaines house was...woah.
It was big, near the beach and looked quite expensive. Kurt wondered if the rest of the boys lived in houses like these. He was sure they wouldnt care about the amount of money Kurts family had but he still didnt want to be so different from them.
And what he noticed was that Blaine lived not too far away from him. He didnt know if that was good or bad honestly.
Kurt was a little scared it would be awkward with him there but the guys made him feel like home. Plus, they felt like home themselves. As soon as they went inside and realizes they were alone, music was blasting, pizza was being ordered, Becky was out of her clothes for known reasons (showing off to Jeff) and hopping into the pool in Blaines backyard.
It was truly an impressive house. Very well kept and nicely decorated. The living room was big with huge windows with sliding doors to the pool and a mesmerizing view of the beach. It was a lot more dark outside since the sun was down. Kurt smiled when he saw a grand piano in the corner of the Andersons living room, wondering if Blaine knew how to play.
Im going to take a shower, bro, Sam informed and Blaine hummed.
Jeff, come join me, Becky screamed from the pool, resting with both arms on the side of the pool, wiggling her eyebrows.
Jeff turned his back to Becky and rolled his eyes, Blaine and Kurt chuckling at the action.
Becky was still wiggling her eyebrows, probably trying to achieve a seductive face and placed on foot on the side of the pool trying to get out of the pool the cool way. The three boys heard a loud yelp and turned, seeing Becky falling into the pool. Kurt inhaled, bringing his hands to him mouth and Jeff hurried to the girl.
Thankfully she rose out of the water and coughed a little. Jeff outstretched his hand to help her get out but before Jeff knew it, he was pulled into the pool. With his clothes on. And his shoes he hadnt managed to pull off yet.
BECKY!!!
Jeff scoffed even more and flipped off Kurt and Blaine who were laughing hysterically.
.....
Jeff came out of the pool and sloppily slid inside. Blaine...dear old friend...could you get me a towel please?
Blaine laughed at Jeffs beaten face, going to get a towel for his friend and Kurt shook his head. As if Jeff wasnt tortured enough.
Jeff pointed to the hallway. Im gonna go to the toilet.
What about your towel? Kurt asked with an amused expression.
The towels not gonna make me feel any better, Jeff sighed and slid to what Kurt assumed was the toilet. While Kurt watched Jeff leave, Becky had managed to get out of the pool and walk next to Kurt.
Im going to go look for him, she informed with a blush and turned, going the direction Jeff just went.
Wheres Jeff? asked Blaine after passing Becky on the way.
Toilet, Kurt responded, looking at Becky silently walking, and wanting to see how this situation will turn out. Blaine dropped the towel on the couch and they heard a very loud scream. They both saw Becky running their way with her hands in the air, yelling all the way.
She stopped in front of them. I SAW A PENIS. AND IT WASNT JEFFS PENIS. She then ran and jumped into the pool again.
Blaine and Kurt looked at each other and burst out laughing. Sam never locks his door when he showers, apparently.
.....
Sam was out of the shower now, not being bothered by the previous situation at all. His body was hot and he knew it.
Becky had suggested they play UNO and each time someone lost, they had to strip a piece of clothing. Sam was down for it immediately and Jeff was in an I dont give a crap mood so he agreed, making the teen girl thrilled and excited.
Kurt, on the other hand, wasnt up for it, it wasnt that he was insecure about his body but he wasnt quite in the mood so he quickly excused himself to a bathroom. He decided he wanted to see more of Blaines house and went to the bathroom that was upstairs. Blaine told him there was one when he asked.
Coming out of the bathroom, he saw an open door and glanced inside as he passed. He saw a little glimpse of what probably was Blaines room so he stepped back and peeked inside.
Whatcha doin?
Kurt jumped at Blaines voice from the top of the stairs. Gosh, you scared me. Uh, I swear I wasnt being a creep, I just-
Its okay, Blaine smiled, coming closer. I wouldve probably done the same if it was your room.
Kurt bushed at that but stood quiet. You want to come in?
Kurt instantly nodded and blushed again at that, making Blaine smile even wider. He opened the door and let Kurt walk in first.
He could definitely tell this was Blaines room. The walls were simple, painted light grey. He had a double bed in the corner by a wall, a big window and a sliding door to the balcony right next to the nightstand. His furniture was made out of light wood, giving the room a beachy vibe.
It was a really nice room. But what made it special were the little things all around. The walls were full of photos of him and his friends, making little collages. There were posters about surfing and many kinds of music bands and artists. There also was a guitar on top of a bench in the corner on the other side of the window. Blaine surely played it since it was in his room. The shelves on the wall where the door was were full of trophies and medals. Kurt assumed it was from the sport Blaine played, though he still didnt know what sport and he had to giggle to himself at that.
What are you giggling about? Blaine smirked and slapped him on the arm. I have a gorgeous room.
Kurt laughed and shook his head. You do, yes.
He stepped in further and chuckled at the pink bear Blaine had on his bed and a pink rug by the bed. The curly haired boy didnt lie when he told he liked pink.
He noticed a few framed photos on the nightstand and picked one up. It looked like it was taken not too long ago, maybe a year or two. It had three people, standing next to each other by the pool of this house. Kurt smiled and glided his thumb over the boy in the middle which was Blaine. His curls were a lot longer and all over the place in this picture. Very adorable.
Blaine had stepped behind him and pointed at the other two people in the picture. Thats my bigger brother Cooper. He lives in the center of Miami. Hes an actor so he is all over the place. LA, New York...And thats my mother.
Shes a very beautiful woman, Kurt said quietly but sincerely. Love was radiating from her. She wasnt looking at the camera but at her two sons in the picture. Her loving eyes were noticeable for anyone who looked at this picture.
Wheres your dad? Kurt asked but immediately regretted it. He shouldnt have been so intrusive. He could feel Blaine tensing next to him.
Y-you dont have to answer, Kurt said nervously. He felt so bad right now. This topic clearly made unwanted emotions return in Blaine. I didnt want-
Its fine, Blaine shook his head and then sighed. After a few silent seconds he continued. Hes gone. A long time ago. And now my moms married again...
Kurt nodded. He had questions but didnt ask them now. Blaine would tell him someday when they would be closer friends.
I miss my father, Kurt said as he placed the picture down. He wanted to open up a little too so Blaine wouldnt feel so alone in this. I lost my mother so now my fathers all I got. God, Ive been away for so few days but I miss him like crazy already. Its ridiculous.
Its not ridiculous, Blaine said and placed each hand on Kurts shoulders. I miss my mom when I go on tours or advertising campaigns too. I get how you feel. I never really knew my dad to begin with so theres no story there. Me and Cooper rarely talk about him. Theres not much that I know.
A few moments passed and both boys were just being silent, looking the other in the eyes.
We probably should head back- Kurt started to whisper but was interrupted.
Stop fucking each other and come down already! Sam yelled from downstairs. Blaine laughed and turned to head out of the room.
Kurt stood where he was for a minute. These last few minutes had been pretty intimate. It really seemed like it wasnt often that Blaine opened up to someone so he felt a little special. It was nice knowing a guy he met yesterday had trust in him already.
But he shook his head. Next to the family photo was a selfie of Blaine and Vanessa. He couldnt get too attached to the hazel eyed teen.
.....
When they walked down they had no other choice but to laugh when they saw Jeff in his underwear, Sam closely to being in his underwear and Becky fully dressed. She was obviously the UNO queen.
Congratz, Becky! Kurt said and Jeff showed his tongue when Kurt wiggled his brows at him.
Get dressed boys, Blaine said and rubbed his hands together. Lets play some pool.
Kurt hadnt noticed before but there was a pool table on the other side of the piano. He honestly had never had interest in pool and he had never played. Guess who will be the big loser?
Yes! I love pool! Becky exclaimed and jumped up, skipping over to the pool table and slapping Jeffs butt on her way there.
Sam was the first one to take his turn and Kurt tried to busy himself with something other than pool. So when is Vanessas birthday party?
Blaine raised his eyebrow at the fact that Kurt knew her name but Jeff answered. Its in two days. Make sure you ask aunty for a free next day.
Okay, Kurt smiled. He moved his stare to Blaine who was observing him with slight confusion. Shes very nice by the way. She ran into us when Felix and I were buying ice cream.
Blaine swallowed the little lump in his throat that rose there for some reason. It was a good thing Kurt got along with his girl.
She invited me to the party too, Kurt chuckled.
Doesnt matter, Jeff said, taking his turn now when Sam didnt get any of the balls in any of the holes. You wouldve come anyway. Its a huge party. She doesnt notice the people she didnt invite.
Thats good to hear, Becky said from beside him and Sam laughed.
Jeff scored two balls but then the white one fell in a hole and he groaned. Now you come, newbie!
Kurt opened his mouth to object but he felt a hand on his bicep. Do you want me to show you how to play?
Kurt was dumbfounded for a second but nodded. What was he getting himself into? This was not a good thing when you had to stay more distant from a boy you were forming a crush on.
Kurt stood in front of the pool table awkwardly. He tensed a little when Blaine stood behind him, placed the cue in his right hand, and took his other hand and placed in on the table. Both of his hands were on Kurts hands and Kurt just couldnt concentrate on what Blaine was telling him. He was so close, their backs touching. Kurt could feel a few of Blaines curls tickling his ear as they brushed lightly. This wasnt good. He shouldnt think about this too much.
Before he knew it Blaine pushed the cue the white ball hit a green ball which rolled and fell into the hole. Becky jumped up and down, clapping her hands.
Kurt and Blaine were looking at each other with serious expressions. They were very close. Kurt could feel Blaines breath close.
It was like theyd forgotten there were other people in the room even though the girl was making sound. It was like Kurt had forgotten about not doing summer flings and Blaine that he had a girlfriend.
The two blonde boys didnt say anything either. If Kurts phone hadnt vibrated at that moment and pushed them out of their own little world, he didnt know what wouldve happened. Gladly nothing did.
Blaine stepped back from him, feeling a little disappointed that he had to step away so Kurt could get his phone out of his pocket.
From Felix:
Ill be by Blaines house in five
Kurt read the text. He had given his number to Felix shortly before Becky walked to them. Felix had asked him out for dinner or lunch the next day. On the way to Blaines house he had texted Felix to pick him up when his shift would be over.
Its Felix, Kurt said and pocketed his phone. Hell be here to take me home in a few minutes.
Aww, youre leaving already? Jeff pouted. When Kurt shrugged, he skipped to him and hugged him tightly.
Ill see you tomorrow if you still want me around.
Without a doubt, man, Sam said and stepped forward to hug Kurt too. That made the blue eyed boy smile. It was so easy to feel welcome and at home in the company of these guys.
Come. Ill walk you out, Blaine said and walked after Kurt in the direction of the front door. Felix had somehow gotten Kurts number and he knew him for less than an hour. Blaine has known him for two days and he still doesnt have Kurts number. He understood it was like a joke between the two of them just like the secret about tennis but still.
Bye, Becky! Kurt turned and waved to the girl, earning a smile and a wave back.
They quietly walked out and stood on the sidewalk, waiting for Kurts ride.
Sad you couldnt hang out longer, Blaine said, looking down at his feet with his hands in his pockets.
I just want to be home earlier, Kurt said. I want to be home before my aunt arrives. Shell be worried otherwise.
There was a moment of silence again. I couldve just walked you home, you know.
Kurt looked from the neighborhood to Blaine who was looking at him now too. I know you couldve. But youve been so nice to me today. Youve done so much already. I wanted to say thanks. I dont know where would I be if you hadnt ran over Sue.
Blaine chuckled and nodded. No problem.
Kurt smiled at him and Blaine didnt resist the urge to hug the boy. Kurt was a taken aback but he wrapped his arms around Blaines body a moment later and leaned his chin on Blaines shoulder.
They stood like that for what felt like forever and then they parted. Their faces were only a breath apart and their bodies slightly touching still. Their eyes met each others.
Hey, Kurt...Do you think your boyfriend could take me home too?
Kurt and Blaine jumped apart from one another, Blaine scratching the back of his throat and Kurt smoothing out imaginary wrinkles on his shirt when they heard Beckys voice.
Sure thing, Kurt nodded. We live in the same building after all.
Blaine and Kurt smiled at each other just as Felixs car pulled over by the sidewalk. He had his window rolled down so he greeted them all.
Kurt sent a glance and a smile Blaines direction again and got into the passenger seat. Blaine fist bumped Becky, his eyes not leaving the blue ones staring right back at him.
He stood with his hands in his pockets as he watched the car drive away. He could honestly tell he was feeling a little sick to his stomach. He didnt know what this was. He thought he was just being protective. He remembered when Nick came out, there were several bullies picking on him and some fishy dudes that said they were gay and claimed that they wanted to date his best friend. That school year was intense and he could feel the same protectiveness towards Kurt. But there was something else that he couldnt put his finger on. Whatever it was he just shrugged it off and went back in to join his friends.
