Author's Notes: Another chapter...hooray? And this is more or less a note to self, but bolded words are the character's thoughts; italicized words are flashbacks/story; normal words are just present time.-----------------

Kurt just sat in the kitchen and reminisces the time after Blaine had called him out.

"Please, Blaine. I wasn't really lying when I said I was going to start at Dalton soon. I really was, but my dad had a heart attack before anything was finalized, and now, he is still in the hospital and we don't have enough money to cover both the medical bill and this school's tuition."

"You know, Kurt, you could always try applying for a scholarship and come here next year. You are definitely smart enough to get one that will cover your entire next year." He answered after a pause, "I mean, who with an IQ lower than yours would have the thoughts of coming here and spying on us? Especially without and actual set of uniform." He joked, causing the porcelain boy to raise one of his perfectly arched brows. "But really, I can always ask around for you, if you'd like, for any open spot so you can start soon. I wouldn't want you to miss your opportunity because of some financial issues."

"I-I don't know what to say...Th-thank you, Blaine. Thank you for not reporting me to anyone before, and thank you for helping me now." Kurt said gratefully. I'll forever be in you debt, he thought silently.

"...Why though, Kurt?"

"Why what?"

"Why do you want to come to Dalton? I mean, this is a great school and everything, but I can see from you fashion choices that you aren't here for the blazers or the lack of uniform choices." Blaine said, still trying to keep the mood light.

"Really? You can't tell?" Kurt said bitterly.

"Enlighten me?"

"You can't be serious, you even said so yourself. My fashion senses are not the same as some dumb jocks'. Mine are so much better. But no! They don't approve of it, and those Neanderthal made sure to let me know every single day of how much the hate me!"

"I'm sorry. But I'm sure it's not true." He sounded sincere.

"Heh, you're sorry? It's not even your fault, Blaine, you weren't even there." Kurt replied, not unkindly.

"Still, no one deserves to go through what you've gone through. You are really brave."

"Right." Came the reply, still not believing a word Blaine said. "Like running here like a coward is the bravest thing ever. Well, guess what? It's not! And you know it too! It just proves to them that they won. I'm just some useless fa-"

"Stop it, Kurt!" Successfully stopping him before he could finish his sentence. "It takes even more courage to know when to retreat. Remember, a break is to let you go even further. This is not an easy way out, so you need to stop dejecting yourself."

"Daddy? Do you need a hug?" A little voice distracted him out of his thoughts.

"Huh?"

"You look like you need a hug. Why else would you be crying?"

"Oh!" As his mind came back to the present, Kurt realized that the tears were still rolling down on his face; He quickly wiped them away and tried to smile for his daughter. "No, it's fine. I'm fine."

Vida still came over and wrapped her short arms around her daddy's legs. "There. Are you all better now?"

"Yes, honey. Thank you."

"Now, where's my bedtime story?" Vida demanded.

"Ha, I knew you are a sneaky little girl, always scheming, especially when you are being extra nice, giving out hugs." Kurt shakes his head fondly, and picks her up. Just what am I going to do with you?

"Am not! I knew you weren't going to remember. I was just reminding you, 's all." The little girl said as she sticks out her tongue.

"Yes, yes. It is this old man's fault for always forgetting." He said as he placed her on the bed to tuck her in. "Oh no! I guess since I have such a terrible memory, I can't tell you the rest of the story now. I must have already forgotten it as well."

"No, daddy! you can't forget that!" Vida starts to panic. "You still haven't gotten to the best part."

"Shh...It's okay, Vida, I haven't yet, and I don't plan on doing that either." Kurt said affectionately. "But I really can't tonight; tomorrow's a big day after all."

"Oh...We are visiting papa's grave, right?" Vida sulked just a little.

"Yes, and it will be a long drive. Now go to sleep, so we can both be up early. I promise I'll continue the story tomorrow night." Kurt then bends over to kiss her on the cheek. "Goodnight and sleep tight. You'll need the energy tomorrow."

"Hey, daddy?" Vida asked before Kurt could leave.

"Yes, honey?"

"Will mommy be there tomorrow too?"

"I-I don't know, Vida." Kurt stuttered out the reply with a pained expression and finally closed the door behind him.

End Notes: So I did made some small changes in the last chapter...if you want, you can re-read it. But since nothing is really final, I might just rearrange all the chapters after I finish with the story.
