‘Tea?’ Kurt asked, as they walked into the kitchen of Kurt’s house.

‘Uh yeah sure’ Blaine replied. Kurt walked over to the counter, turned the kettle on and started getting mugs and tea bags out.

The drive from the Lima Bean to Kurt’s was sort of awkward, neither knew what to say. Kurt didn’t know whether Blaine wanted to talk about what had happened or if he wanted to be distracted… Kurt couldn’t decide so he just settled on silence.

‘We can have this in my room’ Kurt said, leading the way once again down a small set of stairs into the basement.

‘I like your room’ Blaine said, looking around. There wasn’t much in it, a small couch and double bed and a chest of drawers.

‘Ah thanks’ Kurt said sitting down on the couch, and leaving Blaine to sit on the edge of the bed.

‘So…’ Blaine said, after a few moments of awkward silence, ‘thanks for this. I got bullied at my school before Dalton and no-one was there to make me tea and take me home. This is nice’ Blaine smiled.

‘It’s alright. Anytime’ Kurt smiled back, ‘Wait, I don’t mean I want this to happen again. With the slushies and lockers’ Kurt stumbled over his words and Blaine just laughed.

‘So have you had to deal with Karofsky before?’ Blaine asked, taking a sip of his tea.

‘Oh yeah, but it’s picked up over the last few months. I don’t really get what his deal is, I mean I know I’m gay and that’s ‘unnatural’ or whatever, but over the past few months it’s just got a bit intense you know?’ Kurt sighed.

‘How so?’ Blaine asked.

‘I don’t know..’ Kurt said, putting down his tea on the chest of drawers, and running his fingers through his hair, ‘It’s just changed. It’s happening more often and it’s just a bit scary to be honest.’

‘Do you talk to the Glee kids about this?’ Blaine asked.

‘Somtimes. I know they worry but they can’t do anything and I think they’re getting a bit bored of it to be honest’ Kurt said.

‘You can talk to me about it’ Blaine said.

‘That’s sweet, but I don’t want to burden you with it’

‘Hey’, Blaine said, getting up and sitting next to Kurt on the couch, ‘We’re friends right? I know I’m Rachel’s little brother or whatever, and she’s your friend, but we’re friends too right?’ Blaine asked, looking a bit worried whilst waiting for Kurt’s reply.

‘Of course’ Kurt said.

‘Well then, we can talk about things.’ Blaine said simply, ‘I’ll start.’ He smiled, ‘I have a huge fear of spiders. If there’s one in my room, I scream for Rachel. I also don’t like oceans. Too many creepy animals’ Kurt laughed. ‘Your turn’.

‘Oh god’ Kurt smiled, ‘Okay. I drink way too much tea and coffee, I don’t like the Summer, and I never leave the house without my ipod.’

‘You don’t like the Summer? What?!’ Blaine asked.

‘Yeah I love the winter. I don’t know, I just hate Summer. It’s too hot, and everyone goes away and there’s nothing to do during Summer break’.

‘Fair enough’ Blaine replied.

‘Hey it’s your turn again’ Kurt prodded at Blaine’s arm.

‘Okay’ Blaine paused thinking of something to say…,’my favourite film is White Christmas. I watch it all year round. I also couldn’t live without my iPod, but I like the oldies, Dylan, Cash you know? the good old stuff’ Blaine smiled, ‘Oh, once I dropped my ipod down the toilet actually and had to fish it out. Which was lovely’ Blaine joked.

Kurt was laughing, but suddely stopped. Blaine turned to look at Kurt, and realised Kurt was about to cry.

‘What’s wrong?’ Blaine asked.

‘I haven’t laughed this much in a long time’ Kurt said.

‘That’s a good thing right? Why are you crying?’ Blaine asked.

‘I’ve just missed this’ Kurt said, gesturing between the two of them, ‘you know having friends’ Kurt smiled sadly.

‘You’ve got the Glee kids though?’

‘Yeah but those friendships are sort of one sided, you know? I’m there for them, but they’re not there for me. Sorry, this is so pathetic’ Kurt laughed sadly wiping away the tears.

‘Don’t be silly’ Blaine said, leaning over and wrapping his arm around Kurt, ‘It’s what friends are for right?’

‘Yeah, I guess’ Kurt smiled.

Silence fell, and Blaine suddenly wondered if he should regret hugging Kurt, was it too soon?

‘So wait, you put your hand down a toilet to get your ipod back?’ Kurt asked.

‘Yeah’ Blaine said.

‘Oh my god that’s disgusting’ Kurt laughed

‘Hey!’ Blaine said pushing Kurt off him, ‘All is fair in love and music’

‘Doesn’t mean you should put your hand down a toilet’ Kurt was still laughing.

‘You know what’s the worst thing about that?’ Blaine asked, ‘It didn’t even work after all of that’

Kurt just burst out laughing.

Blaine didn’t know how to feel. He couldn’t process everything, he thought that Kurt had a good set of friends in the Glee club, it made

him sad to know that wasn’t true. But on the other hand, he felt so at ease around Kurt, and he hadn’t laughed this much in a long time either.

But Blaine couldn’t stop thinking about one thing…. How nice it felt to have Kurt in his arms.
