‘Hurry up, I need to get ready too you know!’

Blaine had been waiting to use the bathroom for about 20 minutes now. Normally he wouldn’t be that concerned about his appearance, his dalton uniform and his slight

addiction to hair gel meant that getting ready in the morning only ever really took 5 minutes. However, today was his first day at Mckinley and he needed to get into the shower, like now.

‘I’ll be 2 minutes, beauty takes time Blaine’. Blaine loved his sister… most of the time. Rachel had the tendenacy to be well, completely self-centered.

The door finally opened and Blaine pushed passed his sister, ‘You took your time’.

‘We don’t have to leave for another 10 minutes Blaine, I’ll go and make you some honey and lemon tea to calm your nerves. It normally helps me before a performance’

Rachel smiled, and then rushed down the stairs.

Blaine didn’t have time to be picky, so he threw on an old jumper and the new pair of skinny jeans he picked up at the mall last week. He put the tea in a travel flask, and jumped in the car. Rachel was already waiting, iPod in her ears and singing along to some song the Glee club was working on. She took out her headphones, and smiled, ‘nervous?’ she asked.

‘Little bit. I don’t really know anyone’ He replied, putting the keys in the engine and starting the short drive to McKinley.

‘Well you know me and Finn, and some of the other kids in Glee. They’ve been around the house enough… So hey, have you decided whether you want to audition or not?I’ve written a list of songs I think would suit your voice’, she ruffled through her bag, picked out a small bit of pink paper which had been decorated in golden stars and handed it over to her brother.

‘Thanks rach. I’ll have a look later.’

He knew she was just trying to help, but it wasn’t working. Blaine didn’t want to tag along with Rachel and her unnaturally tall boyfriend. One, he didn’t like feeling like a woodland creature, and two, he needed to make friends of his own. Blaine knew that once he had made the decision to transfer to McKinley his friendships with the Warbler guys would suffer, he just wanted at least one friend at Mckinley that wasn’t his sister, or the big friendly giant.

Blaine pulled into the school, and his nerves hit him like a train. What was he doing? What was he thinking? Why was he always such a complete idiot? He could be at Dalton right now, with his friends, somewhere safe, somewhere familiar.

‘Look, I know you’re nervous. But you’ve wanted to do this for a long time Blaine. Face your demons.’ Rachel leaned over the car, planted a kiss on his cheek and ran into the school.

Blaine was running late for homeroom, he had to go to the principles office to pick up his timetable and find his locker, so when he walked into the classroom

everyone was already there, and staring. He walked up to the teachers desk, handed the rather old man the slip of paper telling him that yes this was the new transfer student.

‘Hey everyone, this is Blaine. He’s just transferred here from Dalton. Say hi everyone’. The whole class seemed to ignore him, choosing rather to just stare at Blaine.

There was only one desk free at the back. He sat down took out his timetable. Great. French. Blaine was good at a lot of things… French wasn’t one of them.

‘Hi’

Blaine really wasn’t expecting anyone to talk to him, so he just ignored it.

‘Blaine?’

Okay, so someone was definitely talking to him. Blaine turned round, and oh yeah that’s one of Rachel’s friends.

‘Hey, you’re Kurt right?’ Blaine asked, knowing the answer because how could he forget the night he bumped into Kurt dressed in silk pyjamas in his hallway.

‘Yeah, you’re Rachels little brother. She said that you were transferring. Nice to see you again’. He replied with a small smile.

‘I don’t know about ‘little’, she’s only 3 months older than me.’ Blaine clarified.

‘Ahh, fair enough. So, Rachel tells me that you’re auditioning for Glee. Picked a song yet?’ Kurt asked, tapping his pen against the desk.

‘I don’t know if I’m going to audition yet actually, I haven’t made my mind up.’

‘Well, I might be a bit biased but Glee is a lot of fun, and we’d love to have you.’

The bell rang, Kurt started packing up his stuff, so Blaine did too.

‘What lesson do you have now?’Kurt asked

Blaine checked his timetable, ‘French with Madame Martin?’

‘Parfait, moi aussi.’ Kurt smiled. ‘I just need to pick up my textbook’.

Kurt walked out of the classroom and Blaine just followed. It was nice to see a friendly face and even nicer that that friendly face happened to be Kurt’s.

‘So… Do you like French?’ Blaine asked.

‘Ah, yes. It’s probably my favourite subject.’ Kurt replied, shutting his locker and leading the way to Room 18.

‘Oh god. I hate it. I always forget how to conjugate verbs. And the tenses, there shouldn’t be that many tenses.’ Blaine sighed.

Kurt laughed, ‘Hey well if you ever need a tutor.’

‘Oh I definitely will.’

Okay so maybe McKinley wasn’t so bad after all.
