Chapter 11:

Blaine helped Kurt out of the car when they heard voices, and the two made their way back up onto the decks, trying to stifle their laughter. Anyone they passed gave them questioning looks but neither minded.

Kurt didn't even complain about the cold air...especially with Blaine's arms around him.

"Blaine," he said, "I -- What would you say if I said I'm getting off this ship with you?"

Then Blaine's lips were crashing against his and Kurt found that he didn't really care that they were out in the open, where someone could potentially see them, and tell Kurt's father.

They didn't notice that the crew of the ship had suddenly gone frantic, that they were trying to get the Titanic to turn around a huge iceburg that was directly in its path.

At least...not until it hit.

They broke the kiss as the ship shook uncontrollably at impact. Kurt clung to Blaine, both of them turning to gape at the huge piece of ice as the ship passed it.

Several large pieces broke off, landing on the deck, and the two leapt back to avoid getting hit.

For what seemed like an eternity, they just stared. Officers rushed by, one giving the Captain an assessment of the damage.

Kurt looked over at Blaine, determined.

"Come with me." he held out his hand, which Blaine took without question, and then allowed the other boy to pull him back to the First Class Entrance.

---

"It's not a hard question, I'm just asking you where my son and your brother are."

"I told you, I don't know. I haven't seen my brother since this afternoon."

"I can always have Puck give you a bloody lip to go with that busted nose you got before Burt stepped in to stop bodily harm. Stop lying for him."

Cooper shook his head and wiped the blood from under his nose with his hands, which had been cuffed in front instead of behind. The only reason he hadn't tried to run from Sebastian's cabin was that he wanted Mr. Hummel to believe he genuinely had nothing to do with Kurt's disappearance.

"I'm not lying, Mr. Hummel." he said firmly. "I don't know where your son or my brother are."

Then they heard a knock at the door. It was Carole.

"Burt," she said hesitantly. "Kurt's back."
She stepped away and Kurt stepped into the room -- with Blaine.

Cooper noted the two were holding hands.

Well, at least his talk with Kurt went well. he thought dryly.

Blaine's eyes widened when he saw his brother in handcuffs, his face bloody. The Master At Arms was standing close by.

"Father, what's going on?" Kurt asked. "I -- Something happened, and I --"

"You disobeyed me, Kurt." said Burt firmly. "And Mr. Anderson, your brother was found robbing Mr. Smythe's cabin. He seems to think it a distraction for you to go and seduce Kurt."

"That's absurd!" cried Kurt. "Father, Sebastian -- he --"

"I don't want to hear it." he looked at Sebastian. "Do what you want with the Andersons -- as long as --"

"I know, no violence." Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Arrest him." he pointed to Cooper.

"What? No!" cried Blaine. "Do you even have proof that he stole anything?!"

"He broke into my cabin, and the place was a mess when I arrived and caught him trying to leave."

"You're lying!"

"Doesn't matter what you believe son, it's what the facts state, and I'm going to have to take him down below." said the Master At Arms.

Blaine looked at Kurt frantically. Cooper couldn't go below decks -- if what they'd heard the officers say about the ship flooding, the people on D and E deck had to get out, and fast.

Cooper stood, and attempted to smile at his little brother.

"It'll be okay, B. Let these idiots think what they want to. We both know I didn't take anything." he said.
Sebastian looked at Puck.

"I want you to escort Blaine back down to his cabin. And you make sure he stays there."

Kurt and Blaine exchanged a panicked look.

"Blaine --"

He didn't hear anything in that moment -- all he could think of, focus on, was Kurt, and the possibility of never seeing him again --

Cooper was yelling for him to stop struggling even as he was led out of the room, and Kurt had to be dragged out by Finn, who'd heard the commotion and asked by Burt to take him back to his room.

When he finally couldn't see Kurt anymore, he stopped struggling. He let Puck practically drag him to the lifts, which they took down to D-Deck.

"Can I see my brother?"

"No." said Puck shortly. "Cabin number?"

Blaine racked his brains, trying to remember.

"D...D-61." he said finally.

It was empty when they arrived, the door unlocked. Blaine figured their roommates had gone down to the General Room.

Puck pushed him inside.

"You come up on A or B deck again, and there will be consequences."

Then before he could do anything, the door was yanked shut, and Blaine felt horror begin seeping into every part of his body as he heard a key turn in the lock.

No. Please God...don't let him do this...

He reached out with trembling fingers and tried the doorknob. It was locked.

Blaine pounded on the door, screamed for Puck to let him out, that he couldn't let him die, but there was no response.

He began sobbing uncontrollably, screaming for someone -- anyone to let him out.

People couldn't do this right? Not when the ship was sinking...

When no one came, he climbed onto Cooper's bunk, covered himself in his brother's jacket (the coat and hat he'd borrowed from first class long gone -- probably floating around down in the cargo hold of the ship), and just lay there.

---

Kurt hadn't moved from his bed since Finn had deposited him there.

"You know, this is all your fault."

The brunette's hands curled into fists at the sound of Sebastian's voice. His fault?!

He sat up, ignoring how wrinkled his clothing had become. It didn't really matter that much anymore.

Blaine was below decks.

They were never going to see each other again.

And it hurt -- because Kurt didn't want to accept that. He couldn't.

"Mine? I think you need to come back to the real world, Sebastian." he spit out. "You pushed me down those steps. You had Cooper arrested on a false charge, and you tried to force yourself on Blaine."

In two strides Sebastian crossed the room and struck him forcefully across the face.

"Here's what you need to get straight, Hummel," he hissed, reaching over and gripping Kurt's shoulders so tightly it hurt. "You tripped and fell down those steps. I did nothing except give a third class rat what he deserved for thinking he could take me on, and as far as his idiot of a brother is concerned, nothing happened between us except friendly conversation. Understand?"

Kurt looked up at him steadily, willing not to show how afraid he actually was.

"Excuse me, gentlemen," a steward walked into the room, ignored Sebastian's protests, and headed for one of the closets. "I've been told to ask you to put on your life belts and report to the boat deck. Immediately."

Kurt heard Sebastian swear audibly before he felt the steward pat his back gently.

"I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Be sure you dress appropriately. It's freezing out on deck" he said gently, before pressing the lifebelt he was holding into Kurt's arms and leaving.

Kurt stared down at the item in his hands, heart sinking.

Blaine...

---

Cooper wanted to punch something.

Unfortunately, as his hands were being cuffed around a metal pipe, he couldn't do much about that.

They hadn't even let Blaine come down to see him.

Then he heard a voice say,

"I'll watch him for you. It's not like he's going anywhere."

Puck.

He watched the other man sit down casually in the Master At Arms' abandoned chair.

"My brother," he said hesitantly, "Did you hurt him?"

Puck shook his head.

"Nope. He's all safe locked up in your cabin. Real interesting though, seeing as the ship's probably going to sink."

Cooper felt fury begin ripping through his insides -- locked in our cabin?! -- but what the hell did Puck mean about the ship...?

"Hit an iceburg, apparantly," said Puck conversationally, answering his unasked question as he leaned back in the chair. "Way I hear it, the Titanic's going to be at the bottom of the ocean in a couple hours."

And then Cooper slumped against the pole he was cuffed to, forehead pressing against the cool metal until it hurt, not even bothering to hide his tears.

This was all his fault -- if he'd never fought with Sebastian --

I'm sorry, Blaine -- I'm so sorry.
