trigger warning: brief mention of child abuse/violence -- I tried very hard to keep from going extremely graphic!
Chapter 16:

When Blaine's hand closed around the doorknob, pain exploded at the back of his head. A strangled cry left his lips as he fell to his knees, and then onto his side. His eyes watered, and he felt like vommiting.

"Mom no -- !" he screamed, trying to protect his head and neck.

She didn't say anything -- didn't respond to his cries. She searched for a bit of skin that wasn't being protected by her youngest son's arms, and lifted the syringe.

"Mommy...please..." Blaine gasped as he felt the needle penetrate his skin.

His vision swam and his limbs began to feel like lead.

No...Cooper...

He passed out.

---

Cooper was leaving Haley and Danny's home when he got a phone call. He was already panicking because Blaine hadn't called, hadn't shown up, and his phone kept going straight to voicemail.

"Hello?" he said as he reached into his pocket for his car keys.

Cooper? It's Grandpa. Where are you?

"I'm leaving Haley and Danny's house right now. Why?"

You need to come home -- now. Something's happened.

His knees buckled and he heard Haley scream.

"B-Blaine?" he choked out, using his free hand to brace against the window of the driver's side door.

J-Just get here. his grandfather's voice cracked. and hurry.

Cooper felt Danny's arm grab him around the shoulders and steer him toward his own car.

"We can talk on the way, alright?" he said softly. "Hale I'll be back as soon as I can!"

Cooper just nodded. He felt numb -- fear boiling in the pit of his stomach. Danny got him into the front passenger seat then got himself into the driver's side and started the engine.

"What's going on, Coop?" he asked frantically as they pulled out onto the street.

His best friend turned to look at him, tears in his eyes.

"I don't know."

---

Cooper nearly jumped out of Danny's car the second his friend pulled into the driveway of the Anderson home. There was a police cruiser already there.

Once Danny had parked, the two men hurried inside.

"Grandpa?! Grandma, it's Cooper! I'm home!" Cooper yelled once they were in the entryway.

"In the kitchen, Cooper!" his grandmother called.

He felt Danny's hand on his shoulder and fought the urge to start crying.

"It's gonna be okay, man. I promise."

They made their way into the kitchen where they found Colin and Heather seated at the table with a policeman.

Danny's eyes widened.

"Hey Adam." Danny glanced at Cooper. "We used to be partners."

The blonde haired officer turned grayish green eyes to look at him.

"Hey Danny." Adam's eyes fell on Cooper. "You must be Blaine's older brother, Cooper."

Cooper reached out to grip the counter, trembling.

"Yeah. Wh-Where is he?"

Adam looked over at Colin, who nodded.

"Your brother's been kidnapped. There were signs of a struggle -- there's blood by the back door, a smashed mug, drag marks in the back yard, and the lock on the back door was broken."

The elder Anderson sibling's knees hit the floor. His face was getting more pale by the second.

Oh God...

He could hear his grandparents calling his name, but it was like he couldn't focus...couldn't think...

A scream left his lips as he drove his fist into the wall. Pain exploded in his wrist.

"Cooper!" cried Heather.

"She did this!" he screamed, ignoring the blood from the split skin of his knuckles. If something was broken, he didn't really care. "Mom did this!"

Heather glanced at Adam.

"Cooper and Blaine's mother -- Jenna Anderson. She's mentally unstable...she left the facility where she was incarcerated for physically abusing Cooper and neglecting Blaine when they were kids. She's -- If she did this --"

"We'll look her up, ma'am," Adam told her. "and we'll find your grandson -- I promise."

---

At the Hummel-Hudson house, Burt, Carole, Finn and Kurt were currently gathered around the TV.

Finn and Kurt were arguing over the remote.

"I don't care that a game is on right now -- the season finale of The Bachelorette is on and I'm not missing it!"

"Kurt, it's the Indians and the Cardinals! C'mon!"

The phone rang as Kurt lunged at his step-brother, hand outstretched.

Burt rolled his eyes and went to answer the phone.

"Hello?"

Kurt grabbed the remote and quickly turned the channel.

"Victory!" he smirked at Finn. "Dad? Who's on the phone?"

Silence. Carole set her book aside and stood.

"Burt? Honey, who's --?"

"Carole, get Kurt and come into the kitchen...please."

Burt's voice was hoarse, like he might be crying.

Kurt looked at his step-mother. Carole bit her lip, but nodded, and the two got up and made their way into the kitchen.

Burt was gripping the phone, his face white.

"Yeah...he's here, I'll tell him. Than -- Thanks for calling, Mr. Anderson. Let us know if they find anything please. 'Bye." Burt hung up and looked over at his son. "Kurt, that was Blaine's grandfather. Something happened today."

Kurt sank slowly into one of the chairs at the table.

"What?"

Burt sucked in a breath and exhaled.

"It's Blaine." God, he hated seeing how white his son's face got, the way his eyes went glassy with tears.

"W-Where is he? Is he okay?"

Burt shook his head.

"He -- He's been kidnapped, Kurt."

Oh yes! I knew Blaine's mother was a total psycho. And I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what she had planned, and now you've given us this hugely angsty and tense kidnapping plot. I can't wait to see how Cooper is going to flip out, not to mention Kurt. And most importantly of course, Blaine! What could that terrible woman be doing to him now? Poor bb!
