Author's Notes:

Yuanyang

From Saveur Magazine

4 small black tea bags with paper and strings removed

14 oz. sweetened condensed milk

2 c. brewed strong coffee

Simmer tea and 1 c. water in a 2-qt. saucepan over medium heat for 3 minutes. Squeeze out and discard tea bags. Stir in milk and bring to boil. Cook, stirring, for 3 minutes. Stir in coffee and serve.

“Isabelle, look at me! I haven't had coffee in three days. Three days! I'm falling apart. I'm getting split ends. Look at these socks, Isabelle.” Kurt pulled up the legs of his Viktor & Rolf skinny jeans. “They're from the Gap. The. Gap. I don't even know how I got socks from the Gap. I am wearing someone else's socks, Isabelle. You have to let me go to Starbucks. I'm begging you.”

Isabelle sighed, “Oh, all right.”

Kurt relaxed visibly.

“But you know,” Isabelle offered sweetly, “we just got in this Dries van Noten jacket that would look perfect on you. It's for tomorrow's shoot, but it would be a shame not to take it for a test drive.” Isabelle looked contemplative, “Of course, there's nobody at Starbucks who would really appreciate you in this jacket, but Blaine, on the other hand…” she trailed off.

“Oh my God, you are evil!”

Isabelle held out another twenty. “Ask Blaine to put extra whipped cream in my espresso con panna, please.”

Kurt snatched the money out of her hands. “I hate you.”

Blaine literally jumped up and down when he saw Kurt. “Is that from Dries van Noten's new collection?” he asked with all the excitement of a kid in a candy store.

Kurt was instantly caught up in Blaine's avidity and he enthused as he spun around to show Blaine all the angles, “Yes!  It just came in. It's cerebral but also so fashion forward.” He couldn't believe that Blaine knew who Dries van Noten was, let alone what was in his newest collection. Then again, Blaine always seemed enthusiastic about Kurt's wardrobe, so clearly he fell into the category of consummate metrosexual.

“Oh, I've got to…” suddenly Blaine was gone. Seconds later he was on the sidewalk next to Kurt. “I just have to touch it, or try it on, or touch it, or…

“Oh, sorry. I get really obsessed about clothes sometimes.”

Kurt laughed. “It's okay, Blaine. My job kind of depends on people being excited about clothes.” He looked at Blaine, who was practically vibrating. “Yes, you can try it on, if you want.”

Blaine let out a groan of delight that gave Kurt an instant erection. Thankfully, Kurt had on a long sweater under the coat. Blaine walked behind Kurt and gently grabbed the collar with both hands to ease the coat off of Kurt's shoulders. In doing so, his hands brushed against the bare skin on Kurt's neck, and Kurt shivered and cursed just how skinny his skinny jeans were. Yeow, that hurt.

Blaine slipped the coat from Kurt and put it on himself. It was stunning. Blaine twirled, “How do I look?”

Kurt was having a hard time breathing, so talking wasn't so easy either, “You-you-you…you look…good. Really good.”

Blaine twisted his torso to look behind himself, “Really?”

Kurt laughed, “Yes, really. You look amazing.” With or without the coat.

Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt and hugged him hard. “Thank you. I can't believe…just…thank you.”

He released Kurt, and Kurt wanted to whine from the loss of contact. “You're welcome.”

Blaine handed back the coat with visible reluctance but then began bouncing again. “We have to celebrate. I have just the drink.”  He raced back around his truck and re-entered the compartment.

“I'm making you a Yuanyang.”

“Isn't that a cheap beer from Pennsylvania?”

Blaine paused for a moment, then he laughed. “No, not a Yuengling, a Yuanyang. It's this great drink from Hong Kong. It's kind of half coffee, half tea. Doesn't that sound amazing?”

“Yes,” nodded Kurt.

No! It sounds like a terrible thing to do to both coffee and tea.

Kurt didn't even taste this drink. It hit a trash can, untouched, half a block from his office.
