With the preparation for Easter festivities, its possible I wont post again until Monday. I know all of my readers expect daily gratification, and I may be able to continue to satisfy you, but Im giving you this little warning, just in case.
“First, I need to show you my car.”
Blaine gave Kurt a quizzical expression, then he shrugged and said, “Sure. Just let me sign out.”
Kurt agreed to meet Blaine in the visitors' parking lot, and when Blaine finally walked out of Dalton to meet him, Kurt was standing beside the Navigator in much the same position he was standing when Blaine saw him on the soccer field nearly a year ago. Blaine's steps faltered. When he got within earshot of Kurt he said in a low voice, “It was you.”
Kurt smiled and nodded, “Yes, I was the one near the soccer field. And I'm not an angel. I'm…something else.”
“What?”
“A time traveler.” Kurt gambled that Blaines love of magic, science fiction, and fantasy might allow him to actually consider this.
Blaine looked upward and his eyes moved from left to right as if his brain was processing rapidly. Then he looked at Kurt again, narrowed his eyes and said, “Um…what?” Then he waved a hand, “No, don't tell me anything yet. I think I need to sit down for this. Can we…can we go somewhere?”
“Sure,” Kurt agreed. He pointed to the passenger side of the SUV, “It's unlocked.”
Blaine walked around the Navigator seemingly in a daze, opened the door, sat down, and fastened his seat belt. Then he stared straight ahead. Kurt turned the key in the ignition, put the vehicle into gear, and drove out of the parking lot. Neither boy spoke at all until Kurt was stopping again, pulling the Navigator against a curb.
Blaine looked at Kurt with surprise, “This is my house.”
“I know.”
“How do you know where I live?”
“Blaine, honey, I know everything about you,” Kurt smiled. “I know where you live; I know that you have a duvet cover that is rose, taupe, and cream plaid; I know that you order medium drip coffee even at Starbucks; I know that you hate that your voice has no vibrato; I know that you wear old school, cotton boxer shorts, and that if you weren't going to Dalton, you'd wear really bright polo shirts and shoes with no socks; I know that walnuts give you canker sores; I know where to kiss you that will make you sigh and make your head fall back; I know what you taste like first thing in the morning; and I know that you can't sleep in the same bed with me unless you have me in an octopus death grip. I know these things because you're mine. You're mine, Blaine. In real time, in my time, we're the greatest love ever—an epic love. You are the only man I've ever made love to, and you asked me to marry you so that you'll be the only one I'll ever make love to, and I love that. You're my fiancé, Blaine, so you can't date James or anyone else, because no one gets to have you but me. I know it's crazy, but you have to believe me.”
Blaine stared at him for what felt like an eternity to Kurt, then he asked, “Where?”
Kurt tried to process the unexpected question, but it did not compute, “Where what?”
“Where do you kiss me to make me do those…things?”
“Oh, uh,” and then Kurt leaned forward and pressed his lips to the juncture between Blaine's neck and shoulder, nipping lightly with his teeth, and he felt Blaine stiffen, and then he heard Blaine sigh and felt his head fall back. Kurt pressed his advantage, laying a hand on Blaine's bicep and then licking and sucking on that same spot on Blaine's neck. Blaine moaned, and Kurt raised his mouth long enough to move up and capture Blaine's lips with his own. Blaine's lips parted slightly under Kurt's, and Kurt's hand that was not rhythmically clenching Blaine's arm moved up to cup Blaine's neck and pull him closer. Then Kurt's tongue was in Blaine's mouth, and Blaine's tongue was meeting his as they tasted each other and gasped against each other's lips.
Then Blaine was pushing Kurt, tearing his lips away, and shouting, “Wait!” in a strangled voice.
Kurt collapsed back in the driver's seat. “Sorry. I'm sorry, sweetie. I know that was a lot to take in.”
Blaine's fingers traveled involuntarily to his own swollen lips. “I-I-I I don't even know what to say.”
They both sat quietly for a moment as their heartbeats and their breathing slowed.
“Can you start at the beginning, please?”
“Good idea. Okay. From the beginning: I'm Kurt Hummel and you're Blaine Anderson,” Kurt paused, “Sorry, that was stupid. You know that. Lets see, I'm twenty-one and you're twenty. We live in New York City and attend the New York Academy of Dramatic Arts. We're engaged. I love you very much, and you love me.”
Blaine waved his hands. “No, no. Go back. Can you explain today and also last year at the soccer field?”
Kurt let out a breath. “Oh. Well, in my first life—I guess it's my first life—today was the day we met. It was pretty much the same, except you took my hand on the stairs and ran with me to the Senior Commons holding my hand. Also, you didn't have a boyfriend.”
“I took your hand?”
“Yes. Definitely.”
“And we'd never met before?”
“No.”
Blaine ran a hand through his hair and exhaled, “That doesn't sound like me.”
“No, it was…unusual. When you proposed you said that your body knew something that your mind didn't know, and that's why you did it.”
Blaine didn't say anything. He just stared at Kurt, letting the words sink in. Then he asked, “What about the soccer field?”
“The soccer field was a mistake. It shouldn't have happened.” Kurt explained why he had traveled to Dalton a year ago to check on Blaine and how that might have set events in motion with James.
“Wait, so you've done some things this time around that have altered the future?”
Kurt nodded, biting his lower lip.
“Then how do you know that we're supposed to be together in this timeline? I mean, this is pretty crazy, Kurt. I don't know whether to believe you or to haul you off to the nearest insane asylum. But even if it's true, I'm not sure I can be with you, simply because you tell me I'm supposed to. Shouldn't it be more organic than that?” Blaine fisted a hand into his own curls, “I don't know what I should think.”
Kurt was quiet for a moment, then he said, “How did my kiss feel to you just now?”
Blaine looked at Kurt and blushed slightly, “It was amazing. You're a really good kisser.”
“No, Blaine. How did it feel here?” Kurt put his palm flat over Blaine's heart.
Blaine tilted his head back and looked at the roof of the Navigator, considering. “It felt…it felt perfect. It felt warm. It felt like home.” Blaine turned his head and looked at Kurt and admitted, “It felt like I was remembering something rather than experiencing it for the first time.”
Kurt slumped with relief, “See?”
Blaine shook his head, “No, not really. God, Kurt, even if it's true—and I'll admit it feels true; crazy, but true—I'm not sure what happens next. Did we meet and then just fall into each other's arms the first time around?”
Kurt let out a strangled laugh, “No. Not hardly. You tortured me for about six months by being completely oblivious to the fact that I was madly in love with you.”
“That sounds like me. I've always been a little clueless when it comes to guys. I'm really bad at romance.”
Kurt smiled at Blaine. This was not news.
“But, Kurt, you already said that when you made small changes this time around, different things happened. What's going to happen because you're here now, telling me this? I mean, you kissed me, for God's sake. What is that going to do?”
Kurt shook his head, “I don't know.”
Blaine looked out the window at his parent's house. “So what do we do? Why did you bring me here?”
“I'm not sure. It's where we made love for the first time. I don't know; I just thought…well, I don't know what I was thinking really. I just panicked.”
The corner of Blaine's mouth quirked up in a smile, “We made love? Here?” He let out a breath, “I bet it was incredible. Memorable. I feel like I should remember it. Is that crazy?”
“It was beautiful, Blaine,” Kurt felt close to tears as he stroked his hand down Blaine's cheek. “You're beautiful.”
After a pause while Kurt kept stroking Blaine's cheek and Blaine's eyelids fluttered closed, Blaine finally asked, “What happened the first time?”
“The first time we made love?”
Blaine blushed, “No. The first time we met. You said you saw me on the stairs and I took your hand and took you to the Commons. Then what happened?”
“Oh, I met with David, Wes, and you, and then you sent them away and we talked one on one about a bully at my school that was threatening me. I think I cried in front of you. It was embarrassing.”
Blaine suddenly looked alarmed, “You're being threatened?”
Kurt waived a hand dismissively. He had forgotten this uber-protective side of Blaine, “It turned out okay,” and then he amended, “It turned out okay for me.”
“So, how did we leave it? You know, that first time?”
“Oh, um, we exchanged phone numbers, and then I left. The next day you texted me a couple of times. I kept those texts forever.” Kurt waived his hand, “Somewhere in the universe, another Kurt has those texts saved in his phone. Courage.”
“What?” Blaine asked.
“The texts said, ‘Courage.' You encouraged me to stand up to the guy who was harassing me. I thanked you before, but, I want to thank you again now, just in case.” Kurt leaned over and kissed Blaine on the cheek. Blaine put his hands on Kurt's arms to stop him from moving away when the kiss ended, and he turned his head slightly so that they were nose to nose.
“Kurt, I've got to think about all of this. It's a lot, and, also, I think I just technically cheated on my boyfriend. I need to think hard, so will you please take me back to Dalton?”
Kurt nodded against Blaine's nose and whispered, “Yes.”
“Before you do, will you kiss me one last time?”
Kurt's heart squeezed painfully at the word “last,” and he asked, “What about…James?” Kurt almost called him, “the sweater monkey,” but he caught himself in time.
“Yeah,” Blaine responded, shaking his head, “Yes. You're right. You shouldn't…”
His words were swallowed when Kurt tilted his head and pressed his lips to Blaine, softly, gently, sweetly. Kurt put every ounce of love he felt for Blaine into that kiss. Blaine hesitated, and then he kissed him back, and his hands slid up Kurt's arms to thread in Kurt's hair, and Kurt let out a soft moan. Then they both pulled back.
“Give me your number, and then I'll call you tomorrow,” Kurt said. I hope.
