Blaine kept his eyes forward as he entered the classroom and walked over to the teacher. “Hello, my name is-”

“Hummel!” the teacher barked. Blaine’s head whipped around so fast he thought he might’ve snapped his neck. Kurt sat near the back of the classroom, but there way no way Blaine could miss the boy in his form fitting, long sleeve, white t-shirt and black vest. Kurt looked up and dropped the pen he had been biting before standing up and sauntering over to where Blaine and their teacher, Mr. Brunner, were standing. “How far are you on your project?”

“I’m about halfway done with the script.”

“Take the new kid and bring him up to speed, will ya?” Kurt looked Blaine up and down, making Blaine feel subconscious.

“Does he have a partner?” Kurt asked, looking back at Mr. Brunner.

“Yeah, you.” Kurt’s eyes widened at that, as did Blaine’s.

“But what about Amanda?”

“She’s recovering from her accident. Coach Sylvester should have never fired her from that cannon.” Blaine was confused, and looked to Kurt for an explanation, but the other boy kept his eyes on Brunner. “Anyway, don’t know when she’ll be back. So in the meantime, you’ll be paired with-” Mr. Brunner broke off and glanced down at his desk where a small yellow slip lay. “Blaine.” He looked up and smiled at the two boys. “Get to it.”

Kurt stood there for a moment with his arms crossed over his chest. He bit hit lip and looked over at Blaine. “Come on, Warbler,” he said and walked back to his desk. Blaine smiled softly and followed Kurt. Once they reached Kurt’s desk, Kurt patted the one to his right. “Have a seat.” Blaine sat down and Kurt gave him a look. “Come closer.” Blaine felt his insides churn. “Oh, come on, I don’t bite.” Blaine felt a blush warm his cheeks and he tried to hide it as he pushed his desk against Kurt’s. “See, that wasn’t so hard.” Blaine let out a short, nervous laugh.

“It was actually. I think I might have pulled a muscle.”

“Oh, you poor thing,” Kurt said with a smile that would bring angels to tears.

“All I’m saying is that if I need to go to the hospital, I’m charging you for my expenses.” That’s it Blaine, you’re doing well. No need to be nervous.

“I guess that’s fair,” Kurt said. Blaine glanced over at Kurt’s desk.

“So what’s this project?” Kurt handed Blaine his paper and Blaine scanned the neat cursive writing.

“Well, we just finished reading Othello-”

“Great play,” Blaine interjected.

“And we were told to choose a scene to reenact with a partner.”

“So you chose…”

“Act V, scene II.”

“Desdemona’s death?” Blaine asked curiously.

“Yeah, but I guess we’re going to have to choose a new scene now.”

“Not necessarily. We could make it work. Plus, you’ve been working hard on this. We’ll figure something out.” Blaine went back to reading Kurt’s script, but he felt Kurt’s eyes on him. Blaine looked up slowly and held Kurt’s gaze for a moment. Blaine’s heart felt like it was going to leap out of his chest and he looked away before he could do something he’d regret.

“Sorry,” Kurt said. Blaine looked back up quickly.

“For?”

“Staring.” Kurt looked like he was going to say something, but he changed his mind. “It’s weird to see you out of the blazer.” Blaine thought about how many times Kurt had been at his house having a sleepover with Rachel and had seen him out of his blazer, but he kept that to himself. He couldn’t help but wonder, though, what Kurt would have said.

Kurt cleared his throat. “So do you want to be Desdemona, or shall I?” Blaine shook the thoughts from his mind and smiled at Kurt.

“I think I’d look pretty hot in a dress.” Kurt erupted in laughter, and Blaine couldn’t help but grin.

“I think you should stick to your bow ties,” Kurt said between fits.

“You’re right. I wouldn’t want to over shadow you.”

“Oh, that’s cute. You think you could over shadow me,” Kurt cooed as he leaned forward and pinched Blaine’s cheek. Blaine scrunched up his face and swatted Kurt’s hand away. “Don’t worry, Blaine, better men than you have assumed the very same and have failed. It’s just the way the universe works.”

“It’s cute that you think there are men better than me,” Blaine mocked. He folded his arms on his desk and leaned in closer to Kurt. “I am the best.” Kurt stared at him, lips slightly parted, and Blaine began to feel hot again. He couldn’t help himself; he couldn’t stop staring at those lips. Kurt flicked out his tongue and wet them slightly.

Suddenly, a loud bell rang throughout the classroom and students began scrambling for their things. Blaine broke away from Kurt and sat back in his seat. Kurt shook his slightly and looked down at his desk for a moment before packing up his things. “I guess I’ll see you later,” Kurt said in a rushed voice before he put his bag over his shoulder and sped out of the room.

Blaine let out a slow breath and tried to get Kurt out of his mind. The way his eyes stared at him intently. The way his lips parted and the slight shine that drew his eyes on them and stay there. Blaine needed to get a hold of himself. He grabbed his bag and stood up to exit the classroom, but quickly sat back down. “Shit,” Blaine swore under his breath. Okay Blaine, think about something sad. Think about dead puppies. Dead puppies and kittens and, and…Mom in her gross swimsuit that she thinks still fits her. Blaine let out a ragged breath and was finally able to subdue his thoughts for the time being. Only a few more hours, Blaine. A few more hours and then you can think what ever the hell you want.

Blaine picked up his things once more and walked out of the classroom and into the sea of students. “Blaine!” a voice called and he looked around for the owner. “Blaine!” they called again and he whirled around to find Rachel standing there. “So, how was class?” she asked as she wiggled her eyebrows. Blaine opened his mouth to speak, but didn’t quite know how to respond. He closed his mouth and thought for a moment before opening it again.

“It was…” Blaine couldn’t fend off the smile that snuck its way to his face, “ineffable.”
