The days passed. They all went on just like the day before. Kurt got up, went to school with is step-brother Finn, and got home again. He could not stop thinking about the guy he saw singing at the mall.
On the Thursday after their shopping trip Rachel and Mercedes visited Kurt to have a proper girls night out. They also had to try on their prom dresses once more, because Kurt wanted to change one or two things he did not like about them yet to make them just perfect.
When they were done pinning the dresses they all changed to their pyjamas and cuddled on Kurt's bed together to talk. As they did not need to go to school the next day except for the meeting of the Glee-Club, Rachel and Mercedes were allowed to stay at Kurt's for the night. The only restriction was that Finn stayed with Puck so Rachel could not sneak out to meet her boyfriend at night. Burt did not want this in his house.
“What do you think about meeting the other Glee-Clubs tomorrow?”, Mercedes asked. Will Schuester invited the two Glee-Clubs they were facing as opponents at Regionals.
“I think it's a great opportunity for us to get to know how they perform so we can find out exactly which song I will need to beat them down!”, Rachel exclaimed. “I was thinking about some medley of...”
“Rachel, you're doing it again!”, interrupted Kurt.
“Oh, I'm sorry. I meant, we can find out how we together can beat them, of course we cannot do it without me smashing some Broadway classic...”, Rachel continued.
Mercedes rolled her eyes but she was grinning. Rachel often said those things without thinking about it. The best one could do about it was to ignore her and to start with another topic.
“So Kurt, tell me about the guy from our shopping trip!”, she insisted.
Kurt sighed, looking at his hands. “What shall I tell you, Mercedes? It's like always. I see a guy that I might like but I'm too shy to talk to him. The whole thing just stresses me out! How shall I know that the one I might admire is actually gay? And just going to ask a stranger out is not my type!”
“But Kurt, you are such an amazing young man, you're handsome, you have a heart made of gold. Who would not want to go out with you?”, Rachel said, trying to cheer Kurt up.
“That's very sweet, thank you, Rachel! But where can I find someone who is gay to go out with? This is my problem...”, replied Kurt, shooting a grateful smile towards Rachel which was replaced by a more pensive expression shortly afterwards.
“Well Kurt, I'm afraid we cannot really help you with this... I don't know anyone who's gay. But you are not the only one living here in Lima. I'm sure you will find someone! But... maybe you could try some online-dating...” Mercedes was thinking, looking at Kurt with sad eyes. She had found Sam a while ago and was so happy to have him. But she also knew how Kurt felt. Being alone while everyone around you was somewhere stuck on cloud number nine really sucked.
“I might try this, Mercedes. But I'm not sure yet...”, Kurt said. “But anyway, I invited you here to have some fun and not to sit around and listen to me wailing about some guy I just saw once and will probably not see again.” He got up and clapped his hands. “So, you two choose a movie while I go and get the popcorn!”
The music was loud, as always. Blaine took out his fake-id showed it to the man at the entrance as always and got into the bar without any problems just as always. There was nothing special about going to the little gay-bar called Scandals. Sebastian and Blaine got here every now and then to enjoy a few drinks and dance a little bit.
“Beer for you, Blaine?”, Sebastian asked with a bright smile, turning to the barman.
“No thank you, I'll stay with non-alcoholic stuff today. I have this performance with the Warblers tomorrow at the McKinley-High-School. I told you about it a while ago...”, Blaine explained while sitting down on a bar stool watching a few men who were already dancing.
“Yeah, I remember you told me... it was this public school, wasn't it?”, answered Sebastian as he turned to order the drinks.
Blaine grinned. He knew that Sebastian didn't like public schools. As far as Blaine knew, Sebastian never attended one because his parents were always able to pay the tuition. For Blaine, the Dalton Academy was the first private school. He also liked going to public school, but his parents decided to send him to Dalton for his last years, not only because of the zero tolerance policy regarding any type of bullying.
“By the way, I'm still very sorry that I won't be able to come along, I would have loved to see you perform!” Sebastian handed his boyfriend a non-alcoholic cocktail and raised his beer before he took a sip. “Which song are you doing?”
Blaine raised his glass, too and drank, before he answered: “Teenage Dream... We want to play it save tomorrow. We are working on some new things for the competition but we're not ready to perform them, yet...” He drank some more and looked through the bar, thinking. Sebastian did not join the Warblers because he wasn't willing to sing background chords. Although Blaine had pointed out that he would give half of his solos to Sebastian and had been looking forward to sing some duets, the majority of the Warblers were against Sebastian joining.
“That's great!”, Sebastian said. They sat there in silence, letting the atmosphere of the bar sink in.
“Shall we dance?”, Blaine asked after he finished up his drink.
Sebastian nodded and took the rest of his beer in one big gulp. “You know that I love to dance with you...”, he added before standing up and making his way towards the dance floor.
A few hours later they were back at Dalton, quietly sneaking through the corridors until they reached Sebastian's room. They used to sleep there always. It became a habit. Blaine had most of his clothes there and a second toothbrush.
By the time they closed the door, Sebastian started to kiss Blaine. Blaine returned those kisses although he was tired and needed to get up early the next day. Sebastian slowly guided him towards the bed, pushed Blaine down before bending over him to continue the kissing. As he tugged at his boyfriend's shirt, Blaine broke the kiss softly. “Not now, Seb... I'm tired. Wes and the others will be pissed if I'm not a hundred percent fit today...”, he said quietly.
Sebastian sighed. “Okay...”, he said before getting up to sit on the bed next to his boyfriend.
“Don't be mad at me! I'll make it all up tomorrow!”, Blaine promised, pressing a soft kiss on Sebastian's lips before getting up, grabbing a shirt and a pair of boxers. He went to take a quick shower.
When he got back to the bedroom he saw that Sebastian was already asleep. He grinned and laid himself down beside, pressing a short kiss on the other guy's forehead before closing his eyes and drifting away. He wasn't actually sleeping. His thoughts wandered around but they came back to the beautiful guy he saw at the mall. To be honest, Blaine wasn't tired at all. He just couldn't make love to his boyfriend while he was thinking about some other guy. “Some other guy I have only seen once...”, he muttered.
“Did you say something?”, he heard the sleepy voice of Sebastian.
“No... not really. Go back to sleep, Honey”, Blaine answered quickly.
Sebastian turned around to look at him. “Okay... I love you...”, he said, smiling but closing his eyes afterwards.
“Me too”, replied Blaine. He shrugged a little, hoping that Sebastian did not hear this part. Blaine himself did not take this 'Me too' as an appropriate answer for 'I love you'.
He shook his head as his boyfriend didn't react. “What have you done to me, beautiful stranger...”, he thought before finally falling asleep.
