“Hey! Hey JJ wait up” said Blaine charging down the corridor to his best friend.

“Whoa there, slow down” said Jermaine as Blaine skidded to a halt in front of him. “Where’s the fire?”

“He did it JJ? He asked me” squealed Blaine shaking with excitement.

“Who?” asked Jermaine, slightly confused.

“Tom! he asked me out! Finally” said Blaine, not noticing the pain in Jermaine’s eyes.

“Oh, that’s great!” Jermaine said, plastering a fake smile on his face.

‘Oh great, Tom asked Blaine out, and they are going to live happily ever after and he’s going to be with Blaine forever and ever’Jermaine thought.

“JJ, are you okay?” asked Blaine “You look a little sad.”

Blaine gave his best friend a tight hug, Jermaine felt the fire flare up underneath his skin as he soaked up Blaine's warmth- Blaine smelt so good, like cinnamon and sandalwood, his curls tickled his cheek, his breath ghosted of the nape of Jermaine’s neck- he could stay in Blaine’s arms forever.

“I’m fine Blaine. I’m happy for you; you’ve liked him for ages.”

“Yeah…” Blaine said dreamily as his mind drifted to Tom and his pale green eyes and mop of mousey brown hair.

“So when’s the first date” said Jermaine playfully shoving Blaine, and fixing a smile to hide his heart-break.

“Friday.” said Blaine taking a deep breath.

“Great, erm, I have to go- mom wants me to cook tea tonight” Jermaine lied; needing to clear his thoughts.

“Okay, well, see you tomorrow JJ”

“Yeah, tomorrow”

Jermaine left and walked to his car.

‘You should have told him before now!’

‘I can’t, what if he doesn’t like me that way or- or if my parents found out, they’d kick us out!’

‘Yeah, but Blaine would be there for you… if you just came out, maybe he’d see something in you, something he hasn’t yet’

‘No, I can’t I just can’t’

Blaine always said singing was the best way to clear your thoughts. Jermaine had never really been much of a singer, but seeing as he was alone he thought he’d give it a shot, he searched through his iPod and hit play.

Jermaine hated that Blaine only saw them as just friends, yeah he didn’t know about Jermaine and his crush but it still killed him- when Blaine didn’t look at him the way he looks at Blaine, when Blaine had started to fall for Tom. He wished he had the strength to just tell Blaine how he felt.

Months went by and Jermaine repeatedly let his heart break, every time asking Blaine about his dates with Tom. Then one evening he got a phone call from a distraught Blaine.

“JJ,” Blaine cried down the phone.

“What is it Blaine? Are you okay?”

“N-no, T-tom dumped me, he, he” Blaine had started crying, it made Jermaine’s chest ache to hear Blaine cry, there was so much pain in his voice.

“Where are you Blaine? I’m coming to get you and take you home”

“I’m-I’m outside Breadstix, Th-thanks JJ” said Blaine, Jermaine grabbed his keys and went to go pick Blaine up.

“Hey, B.” said Jermaine walking over to Blaine.

Blaine walked in to meet him, Jermaine had his arms open and Blaine fell in to his embrace, sobbing into the crook of Jermaine’s neck.

“Shush, Blaine. It will be okay, why don’t you come back to mine? I have plenty of ice cream and we could watch some movies, you could stay the night, my parents won’t mind”

“Thanks JJ, you’re a great friend”

There it was friend, Blaine said friend, there was nothing behind that, no glimmer of hope for Jermaine, they were friends and that was all. Well, at least he’d get to ‘sleep’ with Blaine and feel his warmth in the morning; hopefully Blaine would wake up late so Jermaine would have time to sort himself out.
