Cooper was 4 years older than Blaine and was about to graduate high school, he was planning on going to NYU to major in Drama and minor in music, he and Blaine loved to sing. Blaine adored his older brother; he looked up to and respected him.
“Hey B. how was your day?” asked Cooper.
“It was alright, probably going to get worse.”
“Why’d you say that?” asked Cooper, curious.
“I’m going to come out to dad tonight” said Blaine “it’s time he knew the real me”
“Are you sure Blaine?”
“Yes I’m sure I’ve actually been thinking about it for weeks. He should know especially if I’m taking Tom to ‘Sadie Hawkins’ next week”
“Okay Blaine, I’m here okay?” said Cooper pulling Blaine into a tight hug.
At about seven thirty Rick Anderson returned home, it was time for Blaine to tell him.
“Evening dad, Cooper and I have just started tea it’ll be about twenty minutes” said Blaine stalling.
“Great, what we having?”
“Pasta Puttanesca, erm dad I have something I need to tell you”
“You’re not failing anything are you son?”
“No, no nothing like that it’s just… I’m… I’m…”
“Well spit it out my boy”
“I’m gay dad… I Like boys” he added as if ‘being gay’ needed a clarification.
“You’re what? Why would you make an important decision like that without consulting me Blaine, do you know how harmful you choice could be to my career. You are not allowed to be gay Blaine!”
“DAD IT’S NOT A FUCKING CHOICE” screamed Blaine “I CAN’T HELP IT I. LIKE. BOYS. AND THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!”
Rick’s fist whistled through the air and collided with Blaine’s left cheek.
“DON’T YOU DARE TALK TO ME LIKE THAT FAGGOT”
“Dad, don’t do this, he’s still Blaine he hasn’t changed” said Cooper as he ran out of the kitchen when he heard raised voices.
“DID. YOU. KNOW. COOPER!” Cooper nodded “AND YOU DIDN’T TELL ME MY SON IS A DISGUSTING FAIRY?”
“Well I wouldn’t because he’s not, he’s sweet and kind, and just the same as he was before you found out he was gay” Cooper said standing next to Blaine and wrapping a protective arm around him.
Rick lunged at the pair of them, he swung his fist and hit Cooper squarely on the nose, and then he began to repeatedly punch Blaine in the stomach.
“Dad, Stop please dad” Blaine pleaded.
Monique Anderson, their mom, entered the room and managed to prize Rick of her two sons.
“What are you doing to our boys Rick?”
“We don’t have boys we have one REAL boy and a fairy” said Rick venom in his words.
“Oh, Blaine told you then” she said as she turned a smiled at Blaine.
“You knew as well? So now all my family are keeping secrets from me huh?” said Rick
“We did it because we knew you’d react like this” said Monique soothingly.
They sat down and ate dinner in silence, Cooper and Blaine spent the rest of the night in their room. Blaine cried himself to sleep that night and Cooper climbed in to bed with him cradling him until he fell asleep, when he woke up the next morning Cooper was gone, there was a small piece of folded paper on the pillow that read:
Dear B,
I’m sorry to leave like this, I wish I could take you with me but right now I just don’t have the money… I don’t even have a place yet… I’m going to crash at Kimberly’s until I graduate and then I’m going to new York and I promise when, I’m back on my feet and earning money I’ll come back for you okay B?
I love you don’t forget that.
Cooper
Three Years Later
Blaine Anderson was finally happy again, his mother had left his farther and they were both now living happily in Lima, Ohio and He had the most amazing boyfriend, Kurt Hummel. things were going great until Cooper returned, this week’s Glee assignment was ‘Acting’ they had to work more on making the audience feel the emotions of the song, and today they had a guest speaker coming in.
“Hello Class” Blaine's jaw clenched when he saw who it was “My name is Cooper Anderson.”
“OhMyGod Blaine it’s the guy from the freecreditratingtoday.com commercials” said Kurt, nudging Blaine's arm he gave a grunt of acknowledgement, and kept his death stare fixated on Cooper.
Blaine rose from his chair and performed a storm out that rivalled that only of Rachel Berry. Cooper ran after him.
“Hey B. wait up!” shouted Cooper after him.
“I have nothing to say to you Cooper… after you left me everything just got worse and I was on my own Cooper, I had no-one to talk to… and you know that dance? Well some homophobes at school beat me up after… tom got away!!! I hate you Cooper I hate you!!”
“I’m sorry B I couldn’t come back sooner, I’m really sorry I left you, and are you okay? What happened at the dance? What’s happened with dad? Why are you here?”
“I don’t owe you anything there’s nothing for me to say to you Cooper, you left me”
“Hey, I get that, you’re upset with me. why don’t you sing it to me, you were always better at communicating through song anyway.”
“Fine auditoriums this way, I have the perfect song”
“Oh?”
“Somebody That I Used To Know by Gotye”
Cooper followed Blaine to the Auditorium and up on the stage Blaine gave the band the song and they began to play… Both Cooper and Blaine we’re assaulted by memories of their childhood… when the song finished they heard slow clapping coming from the back of the auditorium and there stood Kurt.
“That was beautiful guys.” said Kurt “Why don’t we all go talk over a coffee, I’ve got Mr Schue to postpone the lesson until tomorrow”
Blaine walked over and gave his boyfriend a hug,
“Thank you” he whispered in his ear.
