His voice was laced with a plea of sorts that Kurt was determined to figure out. "You're seriously not going to tell me?"
It pissed Kurt off to know something was going on between Blaine and his father. It also hurt too but he was willing to get over that in seconds.
"I don't think it's my place to say. Ask the kid yourself." If it were so simple he would. It wasn't like he could just ask to speak to Blaine at Crawford. Even if Blaine was a volunteer for only 2 days, he was still considered a staff member.
Blaine was a staff member who Kurt already had a confrontation with on top of that. Crawford would be watching the two carefully. Kurt crossed his arms across his chest. He was annoyed and he felt his temper began to rise as the conversation continued.
"I'm glad you think I can just ask Blaine things. Let me go find him right now. We'll sit and have a nice long conversation. We'll catch up! While we're at it, we'll probably hang around for the day. You know, sit back and relax. Oh wait, I can't do that now can I?"
Always being the voice of reason, Burt tried to calm his son down. "Kurt, don't get angry at me because you're in here. Just calm down, okay?" Kurt had hit his boiling point then and his voice rose to a shout.
"Well maybe if you had paid attention to me, your song, instead of Finn, you would have noticed what the fuck was going on, Dad! Where do you get off?"
From around the room, the other juveniles and their visitors stared at Kurt and Burt. But before anything went further, Kurt was guided out of the room like he was from the music room, minus the struggle. He was heated but he didn't care enough to fight, like usual.
But he had promised himself he was going to fight. He made the decision he wasn't going to get sucked into this big mess anymore. But Kurt wasn't impervious to the habits he developed while being at Crawford.
He became bitter, nasty, and difficult. He shut out everyone and became this trouble maker of a person. Somewhere deep down inside himself, was the old Kurt.
And being that Kurt was an even older habit. And doesn't the saying say that old habits die hard?
So when arriving to music and actually being earlier today, Kurt was already calm. He wouldn't lash out or at least he wouldn't try to intentionally.
His little argument got him escorted out of visiting hours 10 minutes early, unbeknownst to Kurt. Now he did have the time to talk to Blaine.
Walking in his eyes landed directly on Blaine. He was standing in front of the only musical instrument Crawford owned, a baby grand piano.
His head was down, overlooking some sheet music for today's lesson Kurt supposed. Blaine was going to be interrupted though, seeing as Kurt marched right up to him, his signature bitch stance at hand.
Out of Blaine's peripheral vision he saw a figure and looked up with a smile. His smile instantly faded and confusion filled his face. "Oh. Hi?"
"I'm going to ignore that welcoming greeting." Kurt scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Tell me." He demanded the truth from Blaine.
"More. Tell me more." Blaine sung in return with a smile and if Kurt wasn't so hell bent on the truth from him, he surely would have melted.
"As much as I internally swoon at that lovely voice of yours, now is not the time." Even with agitation in Kurt's response, it still made Blaine giddy.
It was a compliment, even if Kurt didn't want it to be. "Could you kill me for trying to lighten up the mood, Kurt?"
He sighed. "No, but I can kill you for talking to my Dad. Spill. Now." Ignoring Kurt's demand for an explanation, Blaine's eyes widened with shock. "You talked to Burt? That's amazing. I'm glad you're starting to-"
"Blaine!" Kurt already knew this conversation wasn't going the way he planned. "I'm glad you're happy for me and everything but I need to know why my Dad told me he already thanked you for helping me come around."
Blaine instantly fell silent, his eyes suddenly taking an interest with his shoes. "What the hell is going on?" Kurt only got a muffled response that he couldn't make out.
"Blaine, I need to know." His voice grew softer, hoping it would coax him into getting this needed explanation.
In return, he only received a shrug. "It's complicated." Kurt could feel himself grow impatient by the second but he knew lashing out at Blaine right now wouldn't be the smartest idea.
"Please." It was foreign to hear himself say the word and actually mean it. It had been so long since used it without using it for snarky or snapping purposes.
Silence hung between the two boys for a moment until a small okay fell from Blaine's lips. He lifted his head, swallowing roughly. "Okay. I'll tell you everything. Just, you have to promise me something before I explain everything."
Kurt nodded, encouraging Blaine to continue. "Don't judge me, alright? Everything I did was for your best interest. I just couldn't take it anymore. You being in here. I couldn't let you rot away in here alone. I care too much about you."
"Can you two just fuck already and get it over with?" Kurt and Blaine's attention was brought to the doorway. There stood a boy new to Crawford Country Day and Blaine, but not new to Kurt.
Turning on his Crawford charm, Blaine ignored the new juvenile's rude comment. "Please take your seat, Mr.-"
"Puckerman?" Kurt let out in disbelief.
