"Well." Blaine released his lip from his teeth and swallowed hard. Get it together, Blaine! As his gazed shifted from the floor back to Kurt, he noticed the smirk slapped on the juvenile's face. Who was this Kurt? "You've come along way from being that boy who came to spy on a little acapella group at Dalton." Blaine tried to ignore the feeling of his heart crumbling as the memory flashed before his eyes.
The boy he met that fateful day wasn't whoever this Kurt was. The old Kurt who came to spy on the Warblers was fragile, broken even. The new Kurt didn't seem like he was fragile but Blaine knew he was still broken. That's why they had exchanged numbers in the first place. He would remind Kurt that he wasn't alone in this, that someone understood what he was going through.
Blaine wanted to make sure Kurt had someone there for him, whenever he needed, no matter what. Sure they had just met, but there was something about Kurt that drew Blaine in. There was something special about Kurt that Blaine noticed. He just didn't think that "something special" was Kurt's ability to snap uncontrollably and go through with such a heinous action.
Blaine was brought out of his thoughts by Ms. Solomon's voice. Started a bit, his gaze shifted to her. Oh right. There were other people present. "I'm assuming I don't have to introduce you to our new volunteer, Kurt?" The smirking boy moved to the side of Blaine and laughed. "There will be no need for introductions, right Blainey?" To Ms. Solomon and the others' surprise, Kurt threw an arm around Blaine's shoulder and leaned his head on his shoulder.
The contact came as a shock to Blaine. He didn't know how to respond or even if he should until he saw Ms. Solomon slowly approaching the two, her hands held up in a surrendering manner. "Kurt, back away from Mr. Anderson now." Vibrations were sent up Blaine's shoulder as Kurt let out a chuckle. He lifted his head and rolled his eyes.
"Calm down, Solly." Kurt knew his nickname for the music counselor always irritated her but of course he didn't care. "Shit, I'm not going to pound him with a bat." He removed his arm from Blaine's shoulder but kept his hand on his back. Slowly his hand ventured downwards and before Blaine realized, his ass was being squeezed with an accompanied slow murmur. "I'd rather pound into something, if you catch my drift."
Even if he was blushing and quite taken back, Blaine had enough with inappropriate Kurt. He didn't like this one bit. It was heartbreaking. Blaine stepped forward and stood directly in front of the juvenile, making eye contact with him. "What are you doing?" He said with a twinge of annoyance. "This isn't the Kurt I know."
Kurt crossed his arms in front of himself. "Please. You didn't even know Kurt enough to make that conclusion." Oh. So that's how he wanted to play it? Blaine wasn't going to let this go easily. "So the texting, the late night phone calls, the day at Dalton, the tears, that song.. it meant nothing to you?" He threw up his hands in disbelief ignoring the sudden awes and cat calls the other juveniles in the room were throwing at the two.
"I didn't know you sang, Kurt?" Ms. Solomon questioned, attempting to turn this conversation around before Kurt barked back. "I don't!" Blaine gasped, his jaw dropping. "What? You sing." Blaine knew Kurt sang. He had the honor of hearing him sing, even if it was for barely a minute over the phone at 1 in the morning. "No!" Kurt now shouted out in frustration.
"I. DON'T. SING." Kurt's face started to turn an angry red as he drew out each word. "And you." He turned back to Blaine who was now fully aware that yes, this definitely wasn't the old Kurt. "You don't get to waltz back in here and bring shit like that up! Who do you think you are? You don't belong here, Hobbit!" Unbeknownst to the boys who were now fighting, Ms. Solomon ran out of the room trying to signal down guards to take care of this, to take Kurt out of this room.
"And you do? It wasn't supposed to get this bad! You could have came to Dalton! You wouldn't be here right now!" Blaine's hands flew to his hair, gripping his ungelled locks tight. "Not everyone can be perfect, Blaine!" Kurt spat out with a menace, huffing. "Not all of our parents can afford to send us to a private school! I'm sorry I didn't cower away and run from the big bad bullies like you did!"
That's what did it. It wasn't a punch to the face or an insult from his father that made him tear up. It was Kurt using his biggest regret in life against him. His eyes stung as he felt the tears building up in his eyes. "HOW DARE YOU?" Blaine stomped his way to the other side of the room, the other juveniles watching him intently. He had to move from Kurt or else he was sure he was going to hit him.
"Why?" His voice cracked as he shouted at Kurt. "Why did you do it?" At that moment, Ms. Solomon and two guards returned the room. The guards ran to Kurt and grabbed at each of his arms. "HE FUCKING DESERVED IT, THAT DISGUSTING LITTLE PRICK!" He struggled against the guards. All the kicking and thrashing he was doing wasn't helping anyone. He ended up kicking one of the guards in the ribs. "I WASN'T GOING TO SIT THERE AND LET THE CLOSET CASE PUT THE MOVES ON ME!" And that was the last thing Blaine saw before his vision blurred. He couldn't hold back his tears any longer. They spilled on his cheeks rapidly as Kurt was hoisted out of the room.
So that's what this was all about? Karofsky tried to put the moves on Kurt? Why didn't he tell anyone? Why wasn't he fighting his case with this? This was ridiculous! This was sickening, literally. Despite Ms. Solomon asking him if he was alright, he quickly ran past her as his hands flew to cover his mouth. Blaine bolted out of the door and to the nearest trash can. He buried his face into the can and dry heaved, throwing up a second later.
Blaine had to tell someone what Kurt just finally let out. After that first interaction at Dalton, Blaine promised himself he was going to fix this broken boy. And now, more than ever, Blaine was going to keep that promise. He was going to fix Kurt- fix this, if it was the last thing he had to do.
