Finn brushed off the snide comment and walked down the hallway, still holding Kurt. They passed the rest of the New Directions who were still standing in the hallway, jaws gaping at the horrific display that none other than Kurt Hummel had caused. Finn finally placed Kurt down in a vacant classroom, making sure he locked the door before setting him down.
"What the hell was that?" Kurt shoved Finn's shoulders pushing him back into the door as he was placed back on his feet. "Taking me to a deserted classroom, what will everyone say?" Kurt turned and sat on a desk, crossing his legs like he usually did. He stared at Finn, smirking at him casually. Like nothing even happened.
"Cut the shit! For someone who is probably going to jail, you're oddly calm." He might have come off like that to Finn but honestly, Kurt had never felt so relieved in his life. It was over. All the hitting, the shoving, the bullying, it would be over now.
Kurt wasn't sure when he decided to stand up to Karofsky but if this was any indication of the satisfaction he would feel, he should have done this sooner. Well he knew when it happened. He went to Dalton to spy, like Puck said. Dalton was magical. The school itself, the policies, and even its students were heavenly.
One student in particular played a major role in this sudden outbreak. Blaine. Gorgeous, perfect, ever so helpful Blaine saw right through him the moment he sat with him. Kurt broke down, of course. He had never met someone who could relate to him, who offered to help. Blaine told him to transfer that day but Kurt knew the idea was unrealistic.
Kurt Hummel, run away to an all-boys private school? That would surely stop the rumor mill and the homophobes at McKinley from tormenting him. He politely declined Blaine's offer, not like he could afford it anyway. So they kept in touch. Blaine would send Kurt encouraging texts daily to remind him he wasn't alone. And for once he didn't think it was true… until a couple of days after in the locker room.
Karofsky took the last thing Kurt had to give. Kurt was already stripped of any normalcy he could have obtained in high school. He was a gay teen living in Ohio so he expected the bullying. He was barely getting by being physically abused anymore but Karofsky stole his first kiss. This wasn't something you could get back, like his dignity or pride, so he snapped.
He left the locker room and went home, cried a bit and reflected. Blaine's and his father's words swam around in his head as he brewed his master plan. "Courage." "Nobody pushes the Hummel's around." And the next day after school, he was sure to make that known.
It was Tuesday, which meant the Titans had practice and Glee had rehearsals. Glee ended about 10 minutes before the Titans finished up. He bolted out of Glee, ignoring everyone's questioning gazes. Kurt went straight to locker to grab his key component in the attack - a lovely metal bat, curtsey of one Finn Hudson. It's not like he would know it was gone. He wasn't on the baseball team anymore so Kurt didn't see the harm in borrowing it.
After retrieving the bat, he headed down the hallway to Karofsky's locker. He didn't have to wait long, Karofsky was already there packing up his things. Without hesitation, Kurt ran up behind him and swung low. The bat connected with jock's calves and he fell to the ground automatically, cursing in pain. "What the fuck? Who-" Karofsky's eyes widened in fear as he spotted Kurt hovering over him, smiling with the bat in his hand.
"Didn't think it would come to this, huh Karofsky?" He swung and the bat collided with a knee that followed with a loud crack. Karofsky yelled out in pain, his hands flying to his kneecap that was surely broken now. Kurt took another swing, this time striking one of the jock's arms, earning a loud yelp from Karofsky.
He was sobbing erratically, surely from the pain and fear for his life. Spread out on the floor, he looked up at Kurt with pleading eyes. "W-Why?" Kurt laughed at this, stepping in front of Karofsky. Placing the bat on his shoulder, he crouched down to get eyelevel with him. He cooed at him as if he was a new born baby. "Aw, sweetie. I know you're not that dimwitted." His voice became low and filled with anger, his pupils widening. "This is merely payback. You took everything from me! My pride! My high school years were lived in fear because of you, a jock that will stay in the closet for the rest of his life!"
As Kurt slowly stood back up, Karofsky shook his head. "I'm not g-" Kurt drew the bat back again and swung at Karofsky's ribs hard. "I wasn't finished!" Karofsky whimpered, his tears running wildly down his face. "I plan to leave Ohio right after high school. Move to New York or San Francisco. Go somewhere where I don't have to hate myself for being who I am. I'll be done with this place, done with you. You took my innocence, my first kiss wasted on someone as pathetic as you. But I can get over that."
Karofsky noticed Kurt's grip tightening on the bat and began to beg. "I'm sorry! Please! Don't do this!" Ignoring his pleas to stop, Kurt started to wrap up his little speech. "You know what I can't get over? You took my body, David." His eyes darkened and Dave was sure this was the scariest thing to ever happen to him right then and there. "I'm scarred and bruised for life because of you! And they won't ever go away. Every time I look at my body, I'm reminded of you and it repulses me! So I thought it would only be fair to give you some of your own bruises, a personal reminder that nobody messes with Kurt Elizabeth Hummel!"
And with that, Kurt let go. He swung repetitively at his stomach, arms, and legs. Karofsky's blood wrenching screams filled the hallway and in seconds, unbeknownst to Kurt, Finn and the rest of the New Directions came running to them. Arriving at the scene, everyone stopped in their tracks at the scene of Kurt beating Karofsky to a pulp. Coming to the reality that he wasn't going to stop, Mercedes shouted. "Kurt, stop!" Mercedes' voice traveled through his ears and he stopped to stare at his audience. Various shrieks of disbelief came out of everyone's mouth, some members turning away from the new unconscious and bleeding Karofsky that lay on the ground.
"Please, like none of you saw this coming? You all fucking knew! This would have been me if I didn't do anything to stop him! But I bet you wouldn't have cared anyway! Every single last one of you, faker than the other! None of you really cared!" Everyone in the hallway jumped at the sound of Kurt dropping the bat on the ground.
He marched right up to the crowd of his so called 'friends' and screamed. "You were never my friends! I don't have friends! So go! Call an ambulance! I'm sure he fucking needs one. Call the cops while you're at it too! I don't fucking care!" Each member of the New Directions stayed silent until time sped up. Santana booked, running to Karofsky. Finn grabbed Kurt and Rachel dialed 911 in a panic.
Shortly after Finn settled Kurt in that empty classroom, everything happened in a flash. The ambulance came, of course. Taking Karofsky to Lima Regional and rushing him into the ICU. The police came and took Kurt into custody immediately. Kurt became quite popular amongst Ohio. News circulated rapidly. Soon enough every local news station was covering the story. They all ran the story of the 'quiet' yet flamboyant kid who unleashed the fury on an 'innocent' football player.
The report stated how each child's parents were notified and Paul Karofsky quickly pressed charges when he heard what happened. Being only 16, Kurt was placed into a juvenile detention center right out of Westerville. And that's where he currently resided, at the Crawford Country Day Juvenile Detention Center for Troubled Youth.
