Kurt's got Blaine sitting up on the counter next to him while he cooks dinner, talking a mile a minute about Glee practice.
It's been a month with Blaine so far, and while he's still quiet and incredibly skittish, he does speak to Kurt now, albeit in short, quiet bursts. Kurt will take whatever he can get though, even if he has to do most of the conversing.
"Anyway, I was thinking of switching things up a little, I mean I am a little predictable as far as song choices go."
Blaine swings his feet from his perch on the counter, nodding at Kurt and playing with the stuffed bunny rabbit that Kurt had gotten him after his first day with the Hummel's.
"What do you think, B – karaoke night?"
Blaine perks up at that, tail beginning to wag against the tile, and he answers Kurt quietly. "Yes, please, Kurt. I'd like that."
Kurt smiles down at Blaine, happy to hear more than two words from the puppy's mouth.
"Alright, good. I'll even let you pick the songs tonight, sound good?"
Blaine nods his approval at Kurt, his cheeks turning red, tail wagging happily.
Kurt winks at the puppy, turning back to his sauce, humming under his breath.
"Oh, also, B - Quinn, Mercedes and Tina wanted to come over on Friday, but I wanted to check with you first before I said yes. You can say yes or no, don't worry; they won't get mad if you're not ready yet. Mm – and Finn said something about taking you to the park? I don't know what that's all about but there is no way you're going with him and that neanderthal Puck – you'd probably come back scarred or wearing tweed or something worse like plaid."
Blaine gives him a small smile, flopping his bunny's ears backwards and forwards as he listens to Kurt talk.
Kurt stirs his sauce with the wooden spoon lying next to Blaine, setting it back down once he's done and licking his fingers clean of any lingering sauce.
Blaine looks up then, and promptly clamps a hand over his mouth, gazing wide eyed at Kurt as he continues to talk.
There, right on Kurt's nose, is a small smear of red pasta sauce.
Blaine tugs on Kurt's sleeve, getting his attention.
"Um, you have um – you got some sauce on your nose."
Kurt furrows his brows. "What?"
He looks down, his eyes crossing, and Blaine giggles loudly at the sight; surprising both he and Kurt.
Blaine's eyes go wide, and he quiets down as soon as he notices that Kurt has heard his laugh.
But the damage – so to speak – has already been done, and Kurt contains his smile as best he can, thinking quickly.
He turns back to Blaine, crossing his eyes once more and puffing out his cheeks, hiding his grin when Blaine giggles yet again.
Kurt's heart is about ready to burst out of his chest as he continues to make faces at Blaine, smiling widely at Blaine's adorable giggles and laughs.
He continues making silly faces at Blaine until the puppy is doubled over in laughter, and then he returns to making dinner happily, mentally crossing off Get Blaine to laugh off of his goals list.
