Blaine was pretty sure that he had never been as happy as he was right now. He had an urge to dance around the room and sing at the top of his lungs, but since Sam was trying to sleep in the other bed he refrained from disturbing him. Instead he hugged himself and thought about how earlier that day he had made out with Kurt, on stage in the auditorium. His cheeks were cramping because he was grinning so hard. He just wished he could fall asleep so that it could be tomorrow and time for his date with Kurt. He wondered what the other boy had thought up.
Blaine must have fallen asleep because he was woken from a pleasant dream of him and Kurt walking on a beach by a knock on the door.
"Wassgoinon?" Sam muttered sleepily from his side of the room. Pulling his duvet around him, Blaine got up to see who was banging on the door. When he got it open he was met by a teary eyed Trent.
"Trent, what's going on? Is it Sebastian?" Blaine asked as he ushered the boy into the room. He didn't get an answer because Trent completely broke down. He was sobbing loudly, snot and tears running down his face and all Blaine could do was sit him down on his bed and grab his hand, trying to comfort him.
Sam must have got up because he materialised in front of them with a wad of toilet paper. Blaine grabbed some and started to wipe Trent's face, but it was futile because the tears just kept coming. After what seemed like a really long time the young boy started to calm down. He hiccupped a couple of times before he finally got quiet.
"Do you want to stay here tonight?" Sam asked him, and Trent nodded.
"You can take my bed and I'll sleep with Sam," Blaine offered.
"Oh no, I can't do that. I'll take the floor," Trent said, it came out sort of raspy after all his crying.
"Don't be an idiot, Blaine and I share all the time, its fine," Sam said. When Trent gave a hesitant nod, Blaine left Trent his duvet and settled in to bed with Sam. They shuffled around a bit, but managed to find a comfortable position and soon all three boys were breathing deeply.
In the morning however, Blaine was woken by the sound of someone crying softly in the room. As he sat up, untangling himself from Sam's rather clingy sleeping style, he remembered everything that had happened last night and realised that Trent was the one crying.
"Trent?" Blaine whispered, trying not to wake Sam. The crying got a little louder for a second until it got muffled by something, and Blaine got out of bed to see that Trent had buried his head under the pillow.
"Trent, what is wrong? Please talk to me," Blaine begged and sat down on the bed. Trent's body tensed under the covers and when Blaine put a hand on his shoulder, he jumped.
"Trent," Blaine tried again, and decided he needed to see the boy's face so he pried the pillow off him.
"Please don't," Trent whispered, his eyes were shut tight, but he wasn't sleeping. It looked more like he was trying to shut out the world by not seeing it.
"Trent, you're kind of scaring me. Will you please talk to me?" Blaine implored and slowly Trent opened his eyes. When he saw Blaine, he visibly relaxed, but it seemed like relaxing let out the tears he had tried to hold in as well, as new drops started to leak out of his eyes.
"Do you want a hug?" Blaine asked, and suddenly found himself with an armful of boy. They sat like that for a while; Blaine was at a loss of what to say. He was wracking his brain to think of anything that could make Trent start talking when the other boy let out a sigh and started talking.
"He cornered me..." Trent sniffled, and Blaine tensed, suddenly he wasn't sure if he was able to handle being the strong one.
"Sebastian... cornered me... he said... said I was pathetic and... and a snitch... that I had to make it up... up to him. Then he said he didn't want to see my fat, ugly face... and then... and then he started rubbing up on me... from... from behind." Trent sniffled and gasped, and Blaine held him as tight as he could.
"Then he just stopped, and he said that... that I was so ugly that he couldn't even get off with me in the room. So he kicked me out..."
"Oh Trent," Blaine said. He felt bad for his friend, but inside him a slow anger had started building.
"You are not ugly or pathetic, you are great. You are a really great friend and you'll make an amazing boyfriend for some lucky guy. Please don't believe anything that scumbag was saying."
"But not your boyfriend," Trent whispered so quietly that Blaine nearly didn't hear him.
It surprised him; he had no idea that Trent liked him like that. He suddenly felt awful because he knew that he had to turn down someone he cared about and he hated to disappoint people.
"Oh Trent, I... you're great, but I'm kind of dating Kurt."
Trent stood so quickly that he nearly dislodged Blaine from the bed.
"It's okay; I'll go back to my room now. Sebastian didn't really do anything; I'm just being a drama queen." He was almost at the door when Blaine caught his elbow.
"Don't go Trent. Sebastian has no right to treat you like he does. We should go talk to the Dean again."
"Yeah, fat lot of good that will do," and with that he was out the door.
Blaine sighed and returned to his bed, putting his head in his hands.
"Did I get that right; did Sebastian touch Trent in a sexual way and then verbally abuse him?"
Blaine started at Sam's voice.
"Yes. Sebastian is such an asshole. It makes me so angry, and now Trent won't do anything and he won't listen to me because he is embarrassed. How did this happen? How did our fun summer music programme end up being such a frustrating and difficult place."
Sam sat up and scratched his head.
"I don't know B. What I do know is that we have to help Trent. I think this calls for reinforcements. Even the magnificent Blam need extra sidekicks sometimes. Look at the Avengers, they are amazing as individuals, but as a team they rock!"
Blaine had to laugh, leave it to his best friend to compare them to superheroes. He did have a point though.
"You're right. I think it is time for everyone to lay their differences aside and work together!"
