He walked down the street with a bit more hop in his step, normally he wouldn't be this happy when he was on the way to work, but he was going to see Blaine before hand, so maybe that's why he was so happy. Sucking it a short breath, he pushed open the glass door to the coffee shop and made a beeline to the back of the small line that was waiting to order coffee. Kurt hummed quietly, waiting for his turn to go up and order. He walked up to the register when it was his turn and watched how Blaine's eyes seemed to get brighter once he noticed who was standing in front of him "Kurt!" He exclaimed, a slight blush forming on his face when some other customer's heads turned at the loudness of his voice.
"Hi" Kurt breathed out, completely forgetting that he was in a Coffee shop and that there were people standing in a line behind him, but he was so lost in Blaine's gorgeous, hazel eyes to even notice. Finally realizing what he was doing he shook his head, clearing it of all thoughts about the curly haired boy in front of him. "Uh" he cleared his throat, "can I get a grande, non-fat mocha?" he asked politely, smiling slightly as he watched Blaine tap his order into the register. "That'll be $3.75, just like last time" he said with a big grin, Kurt pulled the money out of his wallet and handed it over, watching as Blaine's skilled fingers clicked every right button before the bottom open and a small 'cha-ching' sound broke through the quiet hum of chatter coming from the other customers.
"I'll bring it over when it's ready" Blaine asserted, pointing over to where Kurt had sat last time he was here. The table was free, as were two or three of the other tables that surrounded it, he flashed Blaine a quick toothy grin before squeezing past the other customers until he was over at his small booth in the corner. Once he was comfortable in his seat, he pulled the sleeve of his white button-up from were it was covering his watch and checked the time, it was 7:15am, he still had around an hour until he had to be at the new school he was going to be working at. 6 minutes passed before Kurt's coffee arrived, Blaine placed it carefully in front of Kurt, also placing a small plate with a mini chocolate donut in the middle next to it. "You shouldn't have" Kurt mumbled, even though there was still a smile on his face. "Oh but I did" Blaine said flirtatiously, winking at Kurt before turning around and walking back to his work station.
Kurt was stunned, had Blaine been...flirting with him? He blushed at the thought and quickly shook it out of his head, nobody had really ever flirted with him before, unless you count that one time he went to a gay bar and some 40 year old tried to 'pick him up' by using horribly cheesy and disgusting pick up lines. He picked up his coffee in one hand and the donut in the other, taking a bite out of it before sipping on the coffee, he had always liked mixing donuts and coffee together because the flavors just clicked somehow and tasted absolutely divine together. He was too busy devouring the delicious donut that he didn't even notice that someone had sat down in front of him, until he looked up.
Sitting in front of him was Mercedes Jones, she had been one of his best friends during high school and was someone who he was very close too during his rough times when bullying and slushie facials were a daily occurrence. Now, miss Jones, the used-to-be sassy diva, was sitting in front of him dressed in a white blouse, mauve blazer & a matching skirt. "Mercy!" he exclaimed, standing up from his chair and racing over to her side, she smiled up at him as he leaned down and wrapped his arms around her. "What are you doing here? I thought you were in L.A!" he said in a questioning tone while sipping his coffee again.
Mercedes smiled softly at Kurt, brushing a strand of hair out of her face before clearing her throat, "well" she started, placing her hands on the table "I was in L.A, I had a contract with a record label... But Sam dumped me out of the blue, he told me he had found someone else he would rather be with and he canceled my contract...So I decided with the money I had left, to move to New York" she finished with a sad smile, looking at Kurt and waiting for his response.
Kurt was, beyond speechless. Sam had loved Mercedes so much when they were in high school, he had fought for her love and once they had got together, he told her mostly everyday that he loved her and he worked so hard to get Mercedes to L.A and to get her a contract at a record label, so it was very hard to process why he would want to leave her for someone else, there was no one who would be better than Mercedes in any way, she had lost quite a lot of weight since high school, and she looked absolutely fabulous in the outfit she was wearing.
"Oh wow," he finally replied, "I'm so sorry, Mercy. I don't understand how someone could do that so a girl as beautiful as you" he let out a small laugh when Mercedes blushed at the compliment, "and you know what? you don't need him Mercy, you can do anything you put your mind to just, don't give up" Kurt placed his hand over one of hers that was resting on the table and squeezed in what he hoped was a comforting manner. "So," Mercedes started "Tell me all about the new Kurt Hummel!"
Kurt had to leave soon in the middle of his and Mercedes's conversation otherwise he would have been late on his first day at his new job. He quickly got up and put his cup and plate on the edge of the counter, he was just about at the door when his name was being called "Kurt! Wait!" it was Blaine, he wondered what the curly haired boy wanted, he turned around and raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow when he stopped right in front of him.
Blaine scratched the back of his neck, "I uh, I wanted to give you this" he held a small box out to Kurt, it contained 3 of the mini chocolate donuts that Kurt had enjoyed so much while he had been finishing off his coffee. "Oh wow, thank you Blaine!" he was sure that he was blushing by now, the flirting and now free donuts...Maybe Blaine liked him, or maybe he was just being nice. "Well I got to go, but it was nice seeing you again!" Kurt said with a grin, patting Blaine's shoulder before racing out of the Coffee shop and going to work.
-------------------------------------------------------
Work had been, quite fun actually. The lesson he had arranged for his class of 20 was one all about introductions and the children had told them their names, ages and some things about their family. He learned that Stacey, a girl with blonde hair and brown eyes liked to award some of the teachers with little bracelets that she made in her spare time. when the bell for lunch break sounded, Stacey came up to Kurt and gave him a small bracelet and told him "this is your award for being the cutest teacher in the school" she had then sent him a small smile and walked off to join her friends.
Even though work had been fun, it was a Friday afternoon and Kurt was absolutely exhausted. He walked out of his car carrying a stack of test papers he had to grade because he had arranged a small pop quiz for the children in his class, but they would all be getting top marks because the quiz was about themselves. He pushed the door of The Grande Spot open with his hip, struggling a bit to get inside. The little bell jingled above his head once he was halfway inside and before he had realized, the papers in his hands had been taken from him by...Blaine?
Kurt blinked in surprise, he didn't think anyone would help him get in carrying all those papers, but he definitely didn't think that it would be Blaine. After they were both safely inside Blaine ushered them both over to where Kurt normally sits and places the papers carefully on the table, standing up straight again and running a hand through his hair. "Why all the papers?" the shorter male questioned. "Oh" Kurt mumbled, mostly to himself, before speaking up "I uh, I'm a teacher at the School down the road...I have to grade some tests my class did today"
"Oh, that's awesome! I didn't know you were a teacher!" Blaine exclaimed, sitting down on the chair across from Kurt and placing his chin on his hands, he honestly looked like a puppy. "Yeah, well I only started today" He replied, smiling softly at the other man. Blaine furrowed his brow in thought before replying, "you gave your students a quiz, on the first day?" He tilted his head to the side and Kurt thought it was the cutest thing ever... wait what?! cutest thing ever?!
"Well it wasn't really a test, I just asked them about themselves. But I still have to grade it" He explained, "Oh-h-h" Blaine replied with a toothy grin, dragging out the H's on the word. After a few minutes of idle chit-chat, Blaine got up out of the seat and walked back over to the coffee station, so he could make Kurt's normal order of a grande non-fat mocha and one of those delicious chocolate donuts.
After less than 10 minutes of waiting, Blaine came back over holding two coffees and a plate with two donuts on it. "I thought I'd join you this time" he said sheepishly, ducking his head before sitting down on the seat across from Kurt, watching him while he graded the papers and every so often he would have a sip of coffee and a bite of his donut, before going back to grading the papers again.
They had been sitting together for over an hour and a half before Kurt had finished grading his papers and was beginning to get tired, he clasped his hands in front of himself on the table and looked up at Blaine. "Well" he mumbled amidst a yawn, stretching his arms above his head, "I've got to get going now, Blaine. But it was very lovely to sit with you today, we should do it again some time?" he finished in a questioning tone. Blaine perked up then "Next time you come in, I'll sit with you when I finish!" He exclaimed excitedly, kurt nodded his head in agreement. Blaine pumped a fist in the air "Alright! It's a date!" Kurt's eyes went wide, He and Blaine were going on a date!

Teacher!Kurt is adorable....I hope he wears the bracelet :D
Aw thankyou! He certainly will! And I can tell you now, you will be seeing a bit more of little Stacey in the future!
This is so adorable, I love it!
Ahhh! Thankyou! More will be coming in the next few days!
overall, i like this story very much. but there was one thing that kind of bothered me in this chapter. it was during kurt and mercedes' conversation. she had just asked him to tell her about the new kurt hummel. and then all of a sudden, kurt was up on his feet, throwing away his coffee cup and on his way out the door. it seemed kind of abrupt and rude the way he left. i think he could have said, "sorry mercy, i'm late for class. i'll call you tonight." just something so that she could acknowledge that he was running late. but overall, this is a minor gripe. plus, i love how blaine's flirting with kurt :)
Yeah sorry about that, Sometimes I forget to add things, but thanks for you feedback sweetheart!
