Blaine flopped down face first on the couch having abandoned his dance bag near the door and his shoes somewhere in between.

“Are you ok there Blaine?” Rachel asked from the kitchen, he hadn’t even noticed she was there.

“Did you find out that you and she-hobbit over there are actually related?” Santana asked.

He muttered something unintelligible into the couch cushion.

                “What’s that?” Rachel asked.

“Cassandra July is the devil.” He replied lifting his head up off the couch.

“She can be rather…evil.” Rachel agreed. “Has she given you a nickname yet?”

He nodded. “It’s rather embarrassing though.”

“Now you have to tell us.” Rachel said sitting down on the arm of the couch near his feet.

Bootylicious, she calls me bootylicious.”  He admitted before dropping his face onto the couch once again.

Santana stood up from her seat on the old converted car seat and peered at Blaine laying on the couch, more specifically his ass and nodded her head in approval.

“How the hell don’t you have a boyfriend with an ass like that?” She wondered.

“First of all stop staring at my ass Santana, and second of all I am waiting for my soul mate.”

“Oh god, you’re one of those?” She rolled her eyes.

“One of what?” Blaine asked lifting his head up once again.

“One of those fools who actually believe in that soul mate shit.”

“That ‘soul mate shit’ has been scientifically proven.” He said sitting up.

“And how many people actually have a so-called soul mate? Like 10% of the earth’s population? And how many of those people actually find theirs? How do you know that you not only have a soul mate but that you’ll find him?”

“Ok yes I admit the odds aren’t all that great but the fact remains that there are people who have soul mates and who find them. And I am going to be one of them.” Blaine asserted.

“How could you possibly know that?”

                “I just do.” He shrugged.

“Do you still believe in Santa and the tooth fairy too?”

“If there was scientific proof they existed I would absolutely believe in them.”

“Leave him alone Santana, there’s nothing wrong with believing in soul mates.” Rachel interjected.

“If Porcelain was here he’d have my back.” Santana huffed.

“Please Kurt might pretend he doesn’t believe in soul mates but that’s all an act, his parents were one of the couples that proved the existence of soul mates and deep down he believes he will find his soul mate as well.” Rachel replied.

“I suppose your parents are soul mates.” Santana said to Blaine.

“God no.” He replied, Santana looked intrigued by his response but decided not to push that particular topic.

“What if you meet a guy who is absolutely perfect for you in every way but he isn’t your soul mate?”

“If he is perfect for me then he is my soul mate.”

“Not necessarily, your soul mate it just someone who’s DNA is the same as yours…” Santana started but Blaine interrupted her, “Our DNA isn’t the same, we aren’t identical twins Santana, it’s more like my soul mate’s DNA will…” Blaine pauses and he searched for the right word. “Compliment mine.”

“Whatever, my point is DNA doesn’t dictate interests so someone could be biologically perfect for you and yet he could be a complete asshole.”

“DNA is just one aspect of soul mates, the provable part of it, but there is so much more. Haven’t you ever read any literature on soul mates? They all talk about how when they find each other they already had so much in common like they listen to the same music, or enjoyed the same books or played the same sports. Rachel said your friend’s parents were part of the study that proved the existence of soul mates right? I bet if you asked them they would tell you they had several shared interests when they met.” Blaine argued.

“Umm…Kurt’s mom died when he was 8.” Rachel said softly.

                “That’s terrible.”

“That raises another question, what if you knew your soul mate would die young? Would you still want to be with him?” Santana asked leaning forward in her seat.

“A short time together would be better than no time together.”

“Ok, so you are ‘saving yourself’ for your soul mate right?”

Blaine nodded.

“So what if you don’t find him until your 75?”

Blaine shrugged. “Then I find him when I’m 75, but I really don’t think it will take me that long. I have a question for you Santana, you asked me how I knew that I have a soul mate, what I want to know is how do you know you don’t have one?”

                “Why would I?” She asked.

“Because you’re beautiful and amazing and yeah, ok you can be a bit…”

                “Of a bitch.” Santana supplied.

“I was going to say jaded but either way it’s just a cover, I haven’t known you long but I know you aren’t as harsh as you want to appear to be. I saw you cover Rachel with a blanket when she fell asleep on the couch last week. And you don’t think I know it’s you that makes sure there is dinner in the fridge for me when I get home from my late class on Fridays? Come on we all know Rachel can’t cook without setting the kitchen on fire. I know not everybody has a soul mate but if anyone deserves to have one it’s you.”

                “I kinda hate you Anderson.”

“By which she means she kinda loves you.” Rachel told Blaine smiling.

“I know.” Blaine smiled. “Now if you lovely ladies will excuse me I need to go soak my aching muscles.”

As Blaine slowly made his way to the bathroom he heard Rachel complaining that Santana never made her dinner.

After waiting for the tub to fill, he slowly lowered himself into the hot water wishing his soul mate was there to hold him and to rub his tired legs for him. Not for the first time he closed his eyes and tried to picture what his soul mate would look like, he couldn’t decide if he’d prefer him to have blue eyes or green ones, really he knew it didn’t matter because he would love his soul mate no matter what he looked like.
