Sorry this took so long, but the good news is I have the rest of the story (except for the epilogue) written so I'm going to post regular updates. I'm planning on doing them every Friday.
“I don’t like this.” Blaine said clutching his phone next to his ear in one hand while the he ran the other hand through his hair. “God Kurt, he admitted to following the bus and he’s in the same state as you.”
“I don’t like it either but we can’t stop him from being in the same state or even the same city as me. Technically he just has to stay 50 feet away from me.”
“50 Feet? That’s it? What the fuck was the point in getting the restraining order then?” Blaine asked angrily, he paused and took a breath, “Sorry, I’m not mad at you by any means.”
“I know honey. But honestly I was lucky to get even 50 feet, a lot of judges won’t issue restraining orders unless there have been threats issued or the victim has been physically harmed.”
“I should be there with you.”
“Blaine.”
“You are be stalked by some psycho, what kind of soul mate am I that I’m not there with you? I should be there!”
“No you shouldn’t you should practice for you final dance exam and then you should get on a plane and meet me in Ohio for Christmas just like we planned.”
“Just a couple more days.”
“Just a couple of more days. And rest assured your brother is in full on body guard mode, he barely leaves my side and I swear the other night when there were people waiting outside the stage door he was ready to pick me up à la Kevin Costner.”
“Good.”
“I’ve got to say while it’s sweet it is unnecessary, I can take care of myself you know I’m not some delicate little flower.”
“I know you aren’t, I just worry about you…it would destroy me if anything happened to you, absolutely destroy me.”
“Nothing’s going to happen to me.”
“I truly hope not but we don’t know what this bastard is capable of, Kurt.”
“I don’t think he will hurt me, he thinks he is in love with me and yeah it’s creepy as hell but he hasn’t made any threats or anything.” Kurt tried to reassure his soul mate. “But,” he continued upon hearing Blaine’s worried sigh “that being said I am still being careful and there’s no way in hell I’m going to let that creep anywhere near me.”
“Thank god for that.”
“Now that’s settled, do you want to do an interview? To dispel some of the lies he’s told the press?”
“What would be the point? It’d just be his word against mine.”
“We’d do the interview together you silly man.”
“I still don’t know…honestly I just want everyone to leave us alone and let us live our lives.”
“Me too. I wanted to be in the media because of my amazing acting skills not because I found my soul mate and some pathetic little boy can’t handle that. However, I’m not the one he’s bashing in the press so if it bothers you we can easily set the matter straight with one interview.”
“Can I think about it? Part of me wants to do it, wants to make sure everyone knows you’re mine and he’s the delusional one. But at the same time part of me doesn’t care what the rest of the world thinks, they can’t touch us or what we have.”
“Take all the time you need. I’ll support whatever decision you make. If you’d prefer I could always do an interview on my own.”
“That could work, I don’t know. Maybe we can talk about it more when see each other at Christmas?”
“Of course. I’ve got to go warm up for the show tonight, can we skype tomorrow? I miss your face.”
“Definitely. I miss your face too. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Blaine couldn’t help but smile as he pressed End Call. He knew with every fiber of his being that he and Kurt were soul mates and were going to spend the rest of their lives together so it really didn’t matter what anyone else thought. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear the footsteps behind him. But even if he had he wouldn’t have thought anything about them, he would have just assumed it was a fellow New Yorker going about their day. It wouldn’t have occurred to him that those footsteps signalled danger, if he had known his flight or fight instincts might have had time to kick in, but they didn’t. Everything just suddenly went black.
