They were lucky that there was a testing facility the next city over but being Thanksgiving weekend it was only open for a few hours in the morning. Which meant they had to get up early, use the GPS in Blaine’s rental car and hope to hell they didn’t get lost. Luck appeared to be on their side though as they arrived at the testing facility plenty of time before it closed.
“Hello,” Blaine greeted the nurse behind the desk, “we’d like to get the soul mate test done please.”
“Ok, I’ll need you both to fill out these forms. Once you’re done I’ll process them and if everything is in order we’ll take some blood from each of you and test it. It’s been rather quiet today so we should be able to get you’re the results right away.”
They were each sent to a different room to fill out the form, the first part of which was basic information such as full name, birthday and have they ever been tested before, the second part was more personality based questions such as favorite color. Those questions had no bearing on the results but was a supplemental study to find out just how much soul mates have in common.
Once the forms were filled out they both handed them back to the nurse and were able to once again sit together in the lobby while she entered the information.
“Which one of you is Kurt?” She asked.
“That would be me.”
“Is all the information on your form correct?”
“Yes.”
“You do know that once a soul mate test comes back positive you cannot have it done with anyone else?”
“Of course.”
“I’m showing that you got the test done three weeks ago with Adian Davis and the results were positive.”
“What?” Kurt exclaimed.
“There must be some mistake.” Blaine told her.
“I’m sorry but it’s all here in my computer.”
“You don’t understand, Adian is stalking Kurt. They have never done the test together. Kurt would never do the test with that psycho.”
“Look sir, I understand you are upset. You thought that you found your soul mate only to find out that he neglected to mention he already found his but that is not my fault.”
“I’ve never taken the test before, I swear on my life.” Kurt told her.
“It says right here that you got it taken November 6th in Tucson Arizona… huh.”
“’Huh’? Is that a good ‘huh’?” Kurt asked.
“It’s just that the Tucson facility closed down in September, how could you have gotten tested at a closed facility.”
“I didn’t.”
“Do we have the year wrong or the facility? When and where were you tested?”
“How many times does he have to tell you he’s never been tested?”
“That’s not what my computer says.”
“You’re computer also says that I was tested somewhere it isn’t possible for me to have been tested at.”
“Look if he was tested you’d have his DNA on file right? Can’t you test it against a sample you take today?”
“Theoretically we could but it appears the DNA profile is missing.”
“Isn’t that suspicious? Are you starting to believe us now?” Kurt asked.
“It is a bit unusual.” She reluctantly replied causing Blaine to scoff and repeat “a bit unusual” under his breath.
“Look lady, I have been stalked across two states by this Adian guy and the cops told me that the only way to get him to stop is to prove that Blaine here is my soul mate, which he and I both know without a doubt he is. So we came here to do just that, will you please help us?”
“He really is stalking you?”
“He really is, we can contact the officer that we filed the report with if it helps.” Kurt told her.
She chewed her lip, clearly thinking the whole thing over.
“If he really had been tested before and came back positive why would we be trying so hard to get you to test us now? What would be the point?” Blaine reasoned. “Not to mention that there has been no mention of this supposed match between Kurt and Adian on the news, when was the last time there was a positive soul mate match that wasn’t all over the media?”
“Here’s the deal, I’ll test you but if it comes back negative you’re covering the whole cost of the test.”
“Sounds fair.” Kurt replied.
“Perfectly reasonable.” Blaine agreed.
Usually after the blood was drawn the couple would leave and would be called later with the results, then if positive they would come back in and get a soul mate certificate. Blaine and Kurt, however, refused to leave without the results, they were not taking any chances.
“I must admit the two of you have got me rather curious.” The nurse told them as they waited for the machine to process their blood.
“Well if it helps alleviate your curiosity the results are going to come back positive.” Blaine told her.
“It must be hard finding your soul mate while being stalked.” She said to Kurt.
“Blaine and I actually found each other before the stalking started and I honestly didn’t realise I was being stalked for a lot of it but it’s been nice having him to turn to during all this.”
“If you found each other a while ago why are you just getting the test done now?”
“We didn’t feel that we needed to get it done, we both know in our hearts that we are soul mates.” Kurt answered.
“And we didn’t want all the media attention that comes with positive test results, especially since his parents were one of the original soul mate couples we feared it would be worse for us.” Blaine added.
“I knew Hummel sounded familiar! Oh wow, yeah the media is going to be all over you guys.”
“Hopefully they’ll get bored of us and quickly move on.” Kurt said.
“And if not it’ll be good practice for you are a famous Broadway star.” Blaine told his soul mate.
The machine beeped signalling that it was finished and the three occupants of the room all grew silent while they waited for the report to print.
