The next morning Kurt was still confused but what had happened the night before it wasn't a date he knew that for sure, he heard Blaine say as much to Cooper plus they hadn't kissed but the way Blaine touched Kurt's hand and the looks he gave him, those weren't strictly friend territory. Kurt had sent Blaine a simple I made it home without being murdered text like Blaine had asked him and it resulted in them texting each other back a forth that ended with Kurt wishing Blaine sweet dreams and Blaine saying they would be if they were of Kurt. Kurt knew he should just man up and make the first move but he was worried that if Blaine didn't feel the same way he'd ruin their friendship. Kurt got to the front of the line at the coffee shop and ordered his non-fat mocha and tried to recall what was written on the cup he so often saw in Blaine's hand.

"Ok this is a long shot but my co-worker comes in here most days as well as I was hoping maybe you know what he drinks?' Kurt asked the barista.

"That is a long shot, who is your co-worker?"

"Blaine, he's about 5'8' with hazel eyes, black hair with a crazy amount of gel and usually wears a bow tie."

"Oh! Yeah I know him, he drinks medium drips with a ton of sugar."

"Add one of those to my order please."

"Ok, make sure you grab like 10 sugar packs."

"Seriously? He uses that many?"

"I don't know if just seems like he pours a lot in there so better safe than sorry, right?"

"Do you know this much about all your customers' orders?"

"No just some of my regulars."

"Plus, she thinks he's cute and she tried to pick him up once." The other barista interjected.

Kurt couldn't help but laugh.

"You know him right? Is he really gay or did he just say that to let me down gently?"

"He's actually gay."

When Kurt got to work he took Blaine's coffee to his desk and left it there with a post-it note attached that read: Good morning! I had fun last night, thanks! (If someone else reads that they are so going to take that wrong aren't they?) We need to hang out outside of work more often. Also do you really take like 10 sugars in your coffee Blaine? That is not healthy.

Kurt went and sat at his desk and sipped his mocha as he checked his emails, mostly reports from some of the product testers, none of which were ever as detailed as Blaine's reports he was the only one who tried to come up with solutions for any problems he found, a couple emails from marketing about some of the toys he designed, and oh there's going to be a company picnic next week, Kurt normally skips those but if Blaine's going to go then he might just have to make an appearance.

"So, now I know why the barista wouldn't allow me to buy a coffee this morning." Blaine said walking into Kurt's cubicle and sitting on his desk. "And no I don't take 10 sugars, I normally only use 3."

"Well that's a lot better then."

"You know what's funny? I was going to buy you a coffee this morning and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why she wouldn't let me."

"Aw, was the coffee lady mean to you?" Kurt asked sticking out his bottom lip.

Blaine playfully smacked his arm. "Buying me coffee doesn't give you the right to mock me."

"And yet I'm still going to do it."

"Hey did you see the email about the company picnic?"

Kurt nodded taking a sip of his coffee.

"Are you going?"

"I was thinking about it."

"You should! I go every year and it's a blast."

"Yeah? I mean I like picnics and everything but I can't imagine how fun hanging with the people you see every day at work could be...present company excluded."

"First of all, yay! My feelings were hurt for a second there and second of all there's games and prizes, and cake and I really need someone to make fun of everyone's casual clothes with because they are bad Kurt you can't even imagine."

"I like prizes and cake and making fun of people's clothing." Kurt said tapping his chin.

"Please come Kurt! If you don't like it I'll...I'll buy your coffees for the next two months."

"Deal." Kurt said holding his hand out for Blaine to shake.

"What do I get if you enjoy yourself?" Blaine asked.

"The pleasure of my company."

"So I win either way."

"I guess you do."

"I really like your airplane broach by the way."

"Oh thank you." Kurt said gently touching the broach pinned to his vest.

"Did you get the problems with 136-7A fixed?"

Kurt nodded. "It should be ready for a retest in the next couple of days."

"Sweet! Please tell me it's pink with flowers, it will seriously make my day if I got to play with a plane that is pink with flowers."

"Yeah marketing wasn't a fan of that idea but I can make the prototype pink with flowers just for you."

"Yay!"

"You are such a child sometimes, you know that?" Kurt laughed.

"Well, duh. I play with toys for a living Kurt."

Blaine raised his coffee cup up to his mouth. "Damn, it's empty. Does that mean I have to go back to my own desk now?"

"As much as I would love to have you hang out at my desk all day you probably should go back to yours. They kinda have this thing where they like us to work while at work."

"That's just craziness."

"I know right?"

"Call me later? You know if you get bored or want to bitch about one of our coworkers or whatever."

"I will."

Both men went about their work, Kurt decided to find an excuse to call Blaine after lunch, it prevented him from checking the clock every five minutes to see if a reasonable amount of time had passed from when Blaine returned to his own desk for Kurt to be able to call and it also gave him something to look forward to. Of course that meant he spent the morning trying to think of what to talk to Blaine about and making mental notes of things to tell him.

When Kurt got back from lunch there was a small wrapped box on his desk with a post-it on it that read: Saw this and thought of your eyes. He didn't even open it before he picked up his phone and dialed Blaine's extension.

"You bought me a present?" Kurt asked not bothering to say hello when Blaine answered his phone.

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because I saw it and I thought you'd like it, don't you like it?"

"I haven't opened it."

"I'll wait."

Kurt gingerly undid the corner of the white wrapping paper.

"So this is just because gift? It's not some holiday I'm unaware of?" Kurt asked as he slowly unwrapped the present.

"Actually it's buy something for your favorite co-worker day."

"Shit, I should get something for Jenny then."

"You wound me Kurt."

"Oh! Blaine! It's gorgeous!" Kurt exclaimed taking a light blue scarf out of the box.

"You really like it? It reminded me of the color of your eyes when you're really happy."

"I love it, oh my god Blaine! It's Marc Jacobs! This is too much!"

"Don't worry about it Kurt."

"How can I not worry about it when I know how much this must have cost?"

"Do you love it? Did it make you smile when you opened it? Is it currently wrapped around your neck?"

"Yes, yes and maybe."

"Then that's all that matters. I know I didn't have to buy you anything but I wanted to. I saw it and I knew you'd love it and I can afford it Kurt, I really can."

"Are you sure?"

"I'm positive. I wouldn't return it even if you begged me to."

"Now I feel like I should get you something."

"You bought me coffee this morning."

"Hardly the same thing."

"You made me Blainey bear."

"Not on purpose." Kurt protested. "Let me take you to dinner."

"No."

"No?"

"Not if you're only asking because you feel like you owe me something."

"What if I'm asking because I really want to go out to dinner with you?"

"In that case maybe."

"Maybe?" Kurt asked incredulously.

"Are you asking me to go out for dinner as two friends? Or as a date? Because if you're asking me out on a date then the answer is yes. I mean I'll say yes if it's just as two friends as well but I need to know first so I know if I should do a happy dance when we hang up or not."

"I'm asking you on a date."

"I would love to go on a date with you Kurt."
