The couple fell into a nice little routine in the next few days, Blaine would stop by Kurt's desk where they would drink their morning coffee that they took turns buying, if Blaine had a report to give Kurt he would wait until after they had their coffee, at lunch they would alternate between going to Blaine's favorite lunch place and one of the places that Kurt liked to frequent as Kurt didn't like having the same type of food every day if he had burgers for lunch one day the next day he's want something different like sushi. And then after work they'd get dinner or watch a movie or a walk it didn't really matter what they did they just wanted to spend some time together outside of the work day. That's why on Friday morning when the time that Blaine normally arrived at Kurt's desk came and went and Kurt's desk was still Blaineless Kurt began to worry. He checked his phone to make sure there weren't any texts from Blaine saying he was out sick or that he was running behind. There weren't any. He was just about to go check to see if Blaine was at his own desk when his phone rang, Kurt sighed a breath of relief expecting Blaine to be on the other end.
"Hello? Blaine?" Kurt answered his phone ignoring the company's proper phone answering protocol.
"No, it's Artie."
"Oh hi Artie."
"Have you heard what's happening?"
"No." Kurt asked he was shocked that Artie was calling him up to apparently gossip but more so he was worried by how distressed Artie sounded.
"Apparently a bunch of prototypes have gone missing and to make matters worse the competition has started selling toys that look suspiciously like some of the missing prototypes."
"Wait, so are you telling me that someone has been selling our designs to the competition?"
"It looks that way and they have no idea who so now the production, marketing and testing departments are all under investigation, I think you guys in design are safe though because like why bother going through all that trouble of making the toy here to sell it to the competitors when you could just design a toy for them, right?"
"Yeah." Kurt said distractedly as Blaine finally walked into Kurt's cubicle looking dejected as he took his usual seat on Kurt's desk. "I need to go Artie, I'll take you later." Kurt said barely waiting for his old friend to respond before hanging up the phone.
"Are you ok?" Kurt asked Blaine as Blaine took a gulp of the no longer hot coffee Kurt had picked up for him.
"Have you heard what is going on?" Blaine asked, Kurt nodded. "It just sucks you know? I mean I know I didn't do anything wrong but I hate been under scrutiny like this, it makes me feel guilty even though I'm not."
"You'll be ok, they'll find whoever is responsible for this."
"I know but it sucks how we're all being treated like criminals in the meantime. They're implementing this new system where we have to sign out the prototypes we're testing and sing them back in when we're done with them. And I heard a rumour that we're going to have to start leaving our cell phones with security and that's just ridiculous Kurt, they can't take away our cell phones! And Blainey bear! They took Blainey bear!" Blaine said getting more and more agitated as he spoke. "And I know he's technically company property but we weren't planning on him being mass produced or sold or anything, and it's just he's ours and they took him."
"Blaine, honey, take a breath." Kurt instructed, he waited until Blaine complied before continuing. "I'm not sure if they can take away our cell phones or not but if it's a rumour I wouldn't worry about it at this point you know how rumours can be in this place." Blaine nodded. "And that really sucks that they took Blainey bear, maybe when this is done you can talk to your friend Wes about getting him back?"
"Yeah. I'm being stupid I just really hate this and I don't get why anyone would do something like this."
"You're not being stupid and whoever is doing this is probably getting a shitload of money from the competitors, not that it excuses their actions or anything." Kurt said putting his hand on Blaine's knee.
"I should get to work."
"Ok, want to stay in tonight watch a movie and cuddle?" Kurt asked.
Blaine nodded.
"And we can skip the picnic tomorrow if you want."
"No way, the company picnic is awesome, there's no way we are skipping that."
Kurt laughed. "Alright we'll go."
Blaine got off Kurt's desk but before he could leave Kurt caught him and pulled him into a tight hug, Blaine melted into his boyfriend's arm letting some of the stress of the morning's events leave his body, at least temporarily. Kurt place a small loving kiss on Blaine's lips. "Call me if you need me ok?"
"I always need you, but yeah I'll call you if I start freaking out or whatever."
"We'll go to that greasy diner you like for lunch."
"Ok."
After one more quick kiss the men let each other go and Blaine headed back to his own desk, leaving Kurt alone to seethe over the fact someone screwed over the company but more importantly was causing Blaine undue stress.
That night they cuddled on Blaine's couch as they watched The Little Mermaid Kurt had declared the best cure for a stressful day at work was Disney and Blaine was inclined to agree.
"You know." Cooper said walking into the room. "I always thought if they did a live action remake of this I'd make an excellent Prince Eric."
"Nah, Blaine looks way more like Prince Eric than you do." Kurt told Cooper.
"Maybe you could play the Beast in Beauty and the Beast though, save them a fortune on make-up." Blaine added.
"Rude." Cooper gasped. "Your boyfriend is rude." He said turning to Kurt who just shrugged.
"Don't you have a date?" Blaine asked Cooper.
"Sure do. Don't wait up little brother." Cooper said waggling his eyebrows.
Blaine shook his head and rolled his eyes before turning back to the movie. As soon as Cooper was gone Blaine got up and grabbed the Beauty and The Beast DVD and placed it on Cooper's pillow so he would see it when he eventually got home.
It was during their second movie (The Lion King) that Blaine turned to Kurt and asked him to spend the night. "I'm not asking for sex or anything, I know neither us is ready for that yet, I just want you to hold me tonight."
"Of course."
Blaine lent Kurt a pair of pyjamas and gave him the new unwrapped toothbrush that Cooper kept on hand for his overnight 'guests' was kept and soon the two men were cuddling in Blaine's bed.
