Blaine sits curled up on his couch with the TV on, but he's really not paying much attention to whatever is happening on the screen. He's too preoccupied with thoughts of Kurt. Their walk in the park a few days ago, holding Kurt's hand, the feel of Kurt's lips on his own.

He can't help but smile with the thoughts, and he decides that he definitely needs to ask Kurt out on a proper date. No more meeting under the guise of a "business meeting."

He toys idly with the remote in his hands as he lets his mind wander over date ideas, but none of them seem to fit. It's got to be perfect. A smile turns up the corners of his lips as he's hit with an idea, his heart light and giddy, because this is it. He tosses the remote down on the cushion beside him as he picks his phone up from the couch cushion beside him and scrolls through his contacts to find the one he's looking for.

(1:25) Hey Rachel, it's Blaine Anderson. I was wondering if you'd be willing to help me out with something?

Rachel's response comes before he can even set down his phone.

(1:25) I will certainly try my best! I'm assuming it has something to do with Kurt? By the way, heard you kissed him!

Blaine laughs and feels himself blushing slightly. He can already tell that she is definitely the nosy best friend.

(1:26) Yep. I kissed him good. :)
(1:26) Anyway, I was wondering if you could have him ready to go at five tonight?
(1:27) Tell him "comfortable but classy."

He hits send and takes a deep breath, feeling a little bit giddy at just the thought of a real date with Kurt. He's definitely glad he has Rachel to help him, as nosy as she may be, because he wants to make this the most impressive date possible.

(1:27) I *might* be able to do that. ;)
(1:27) This wouldn't happen to be a *date* would it, Mr. Anderson?

Blaine blushes furiously as his smile widens. He thinks he just might like this girl.

(1:28) It might be. ;)
(1:28) Will you do that for me, please?

Her answer comes back quickly.

(1:28) Oh, I suppose. But only because I'm almost sure the giggling school girl expression that's been on Kurt's face this whole week is directly related to that kiss you planted on him. ;)
(1:28) And I want our boy home by midnight or he's grounded. ;)

(1:29) Thank you, Ms. Berry. I'll bring Kurt home safe and sound by curfew.

Blaine laughs brightly as he hits send before realizing something belatedly.

(1:30) A giggling school girl? Really? :)

(1:31) Blaine, all he needs are pigtails and bobby socks.

Another weightless peal of laughter bubbles out of Blaine's throat before his phone chimes again.

(1:32) I take it you want me to keep the "date" aspect of it a secret from him?

Blaine quickly types back his response as he turns off the TV and gets up from the couch.

(1:32) Yes, please. I'll be at your apartment at 5 to pick him up.

He smiles proudly at the ideas already starting to spin through his head as he heads to his room to start planning.

Kurt is lounging on his bed, reading over some class material when Rachel comes bounding into his room, looking worried.

"Kurt, you're going out to dinner with me tonight," she tells him, receiving a puzzled look from Kurt in response.

"I'm sorry, and why would I do that?" Kurt raises an eyebrow in question.

"My date cancelled, and it's too late to cancel the dinner reservations, so you're coming with me instead," she explains.

"Why don't you just not show up," Kurt asks, looking back down at the papers in his lap.

"Because," Rachel hesitates, biting her lip as though she hadn't prepared herself for an argument. Finally, after a suspicious amount of thought, she continues slowly. "Because when I get famous one day, I don't want things like that tainting my reputation in this city."
"Rachel," Kurt tilts his head back up, laughing. "I don't think one missed dinner reservation will harm your reputation."

"Please, Kurt. Just come with me, please," she asks, practically begging. Kurt sets his school work on the end of his bed and starts to stand.

"What kind of dress is this place," he asks with a sigh, already heading toward his closet. He hadn't imagined for a single moment that he wouldn't end up going. Arguing with Rachel Berry never ended in his favor.

"Comfortable but classy," she answers quite matter-of-factly, as though she were reading it from somewhere, and starts to head out of Kurt's room. "I'll be in my room getting ready," Kurt hears her call from the doorway.

Blaine has been standing in his closet for almost an hour, going through outfits, but he still hasn't found anything that he feels could possibly measure up to whatever Kurt will be wearing. From the few times he's seen him, Kurt seems to have an impeccable fashion sense, and Blaine can't help but feel like he'll embarrass himself no matter what he chooses.

He almost texts Kurt to ask him what he's going to wear, but catches himself, and decides to try and throw Kurt off of any possible trail connecting him to what's really going on.

(2:14) What's up, buttercup?

Kurt doesn't answer for a few minutes, but when Blaine reads his response, he can almost see Kurt standing there, hand on his hip, laughing at him.

(2:17) Really, Blaine? 'Buttercup'?

Blaine laughs, himself, sending Kurt a quick reply and turning back to the outfits that he's looked through countless times already.

(2:17) What? It rhymes! I'm being cute!

He decides to take a break from looking through his clothes, deciding he's pretty much hopeless right now anyway, and lounges on his bed, phone in hand, just as it buzzes with two new texts, both from Kurt.

(2:18) Whatever you say.
(2:18) And to answer your question, I'm getting ready to go out for dinner with Rachel. Her date cancelled, and apparently skipping out on the reservations would "ruin her reputation."

Blaine nods even though he knows Kurt can't see him, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth as he imagines the way Kurt's soft blue eyes would roll in fond irritation. Just the mental image is enough to send butterflies flitting through his stomach, and feels slightly relieved that Rachel has seemingly been able to keep secret the real reason Kurt is getting dressed up.

He is about to send Kurt a text asking where they're going for dinner, just to see how detailed Rachel got in her disguising of the situation, but he decides against it, worrying that Kurt might find it to be a creepy question. As he tries to think of a good response, he gets another text from Kurt.

(2:20) Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go do my hair, can't risk Rachel getting to the bathroom first, or I'll never have enough time to get ready! ;)

Blaine laughs and heads back to his closet to make a second attempt at picking an outfit.

Kurt is sitting on the couch watching some mindless reality TV show while he waits for Rachel to come out of her room so they can head to the restaurant. He checks the time on his phone; it's 4:45, and though he doesn't know how close this restaurant they're going to is, they only have fifteen minutes to get there. And knowing Rachel, she'll wear heels impractical for walking there, and they'll end up missing their reservation anyway.

"Rachel, hurry up," he shouts into her room for what must be the fifth time now since he's been waiting.

"Fine, give me a few more minutes," her muffled voice comes from the other side of her closed door. Kurt rolls his eyes and leans back into the couch further, turning his eyes back to the TV.

He looks at the time every few minutes, and at 4:50, he's just about to call Rachel's name again when he hears a knock on the door.

He gets up and goes to see who it is, shouting to Rachel as he walks. "Rachel, if you don't hurry up, they'll give our table to someone else," he calls, opening the door as he speaks.

He turns his head to see a familiar face leaning against the door frame, dressed up in a jacket and tie, a bouquet of roses in one hand, and a wide grin spread across his face.

"Blaine," Kurt breathes out, putting all of his effort into trying unsuccessfully to close his mouth, because he knows probably looks ridiculous with his jaw dropped. But Blaine looks...God...Blaine looks amazing.
