Kurt is lounging on his bed flipping through a fashion magazine when Rachel comes bounding through the front door, and a few seconds later, bursts excitedly into Kurt's room, a shopping bag in one hand, and two spoons in the other.
"I've got the ice cream, now spill," she orders excitedly, running up and jumping onto Kurt's bed, landing right beside him and almost hitting him on the head with her shopping bag full of ice cream and chocolate.
Kurt sits up and carefully sets his magazine onto his nightstand, and reaches a hand out to take a spoon from Rachel as she sets the contents of the bag onto the bed.
"Okay, so you know how I had my audition today," Kurt begins, and before he can even start to tell her about Blaine and how he had left his group of friends just to talk to Kurt, Rachel cuts him off and starts asking him all about how the audition, itself, went.
Kurt quickly cuts her off, too eager to talk about what happened after the audition to spare a moment's thought toward the actual audition.
"Yeah, it was good, it went fine, but Rachel, I thought you wanted to hear about my date," Kurt baits, and Rachel starts bouncing up and down in her seated position on the bed.
"Right, right, tell me all about it! He looked cute! Are you guys going on another date? Did he–"
"Rachel! Shut up, and I'll tell you!" Kurt insists, unable to fight the smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Rachel makes a face and Kurt laughs, sticking a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth to make her stop talking, giving her a pointed look. Rachel scowls around the spoon and pulls it out of her mouth, handing it back to Kurt, the bright smile on her face taking all the bite out of the scowl. She makes a show of zipping her lip and gestures for him to continue.
"Okay, so he just started talking to me at the audition – he obviously caught me staring at him, but I mean, how could I not stare. You saw him!"
"I definitely did. Oh my god, Kurt, he was beautiful–"
"Rachel..." Kurt reminds. She rolls her eyes and rezips her lips, smiling, and settles for eating her ice cream as she looks at Kurt expectantly. He continues his story. "So then we were in the coffee shop, and oh my god, he was getting all excited when he found out I was in glee club in high school – which, by the way, you'll never believe it – we competed against his glee club!"
Rachel's eyes grow wide at this news, "NO. WAY. What school did he go to?"
"Dalton Academy. In Westerville," he can see in Rachel's eyes that she doesn't really remember the school name, "the Warblers, Rachel. The all-boys one..."
"Oh my God, no way! That's so crazy," She exclaims, growing more and more excited. Kurt starts to worry that she's going to start flinging her ice cream around the room, with all of the hand-waving she's doing in her excitement.
"Rachel, calm down!" He says, laughing, as his hands fly out to prevent a pint of ice cream from being upended on his bed. He pops a bite of ice cream into his mouth, gesturing with the spoon. "Oh, and I didn't even tell you; he told me when we were texting that it was "strictly a business date", or whatever, and then when I was getting my coffee, he walks in and pays for it for me. So like, I don't know if he was trying to give off the impression that it was a real date. I kind of wish it was, though," he says the last part more softly, talking to himself more than Rachel.
"Sounds like you really like him," she says in somewhat of a teasing voice, pushing at Kurt's shoulder lightly.
"Would it be weird if I said I kind of do," Kurt asks, staring down at his hands. "I mean, we just met today, but oh my god, Rachel, I so wanted to kiss him when we got back here."
"Whoa, wait, you brought him home with you," Rachel sounds shocked, her hands flying out like she's trying to stop traffic.
"No, no," Kurt says, waving a hand to her, "he just walked me home." Kurt pauses, "and he kissed me on the cheek just before he left."
Rachel squeals loudly, causing Kurt to wince. "Oh my god Kurt, he totally likes you back!"
"You think so," Kurt looks up, hopefully.
"Duh! You just said he kissed you!" Rachel slaps his arm lightly, and Kurt can't help but grin widely. "How long after he left did he text you?" Kurt laughs slightly,
"Uh, like three minutes," he answers, looking up at her with smiling eyes.
"Kurt, you are so dumb if you honestly couldn't tell that this guy is totally into you! Did he ask you out again?"
"Um, yeah. We're going for a walk in Central Park tomorrow."
Rachel squeals again, louder this time, and Kurt covers his ears, "Kurt! That is so romantic! Don't you remember when we came to New York for Nationals, and I told you all about me and Finn's date? Remember? And I told you it was so romantic, and adorable, and perfect?"
"Yeah, Rachel, I remember. By the way, speaking of adorable," Kurt begins, and Rachel rolls her eyes fondly, knowing that the next thing to come out of Kurt's mouth will be something about Blaine being adorable. "When we were in the coffee shop, he was just sitting there like, staring at me – I swear I thought there was something on my face at first – and then he said that I'm adorable."
Rachel starts bouncing again, grabbing Kurt's hands and squealing some more. "Oh my god, Kurt, he so likes you! What's his name, anyway?"
"Blaine Anderson," Kurt says with an almost dream-like sound to it, as though just saying Blaine's name makes Kurt like him even more. It kinda does.
They sit together for a few more minutes, eating more ice cream, until Kurt decides to go take a shower before they settle down for a movie night.
While Kurt is in the shower, Rachel goes into his room where he left his phone on his bed, and copies Blaine's number into her phone. She can tell that Blaine likes Kurt, and she would have to be blind and deaf to not be able to tell that Kurt obviously likes Blaine, but she decides to do her own interrogation of Blaine. What Kurt doesn't know won't hurt him.
