Blaine chuckled weakly at Sam's words, shaking his head as he let himself fall onto the armchair behind him. Yesterday he found out that he's going to be a father and today his best friend told him that his own was dead. Blaine ran a hand through his hair as he let out a small gasp, looking down at the ground.
The curly-haired man hadn't seen his father since he turned eighteen. But that was already seven years ago. He couldn't believe it. The man who had treated him like shit for being 'different', who beat him up once or twice a week because he acted too gay around him – the man who was supposed to love him and be a father to him; he wasn't there anymore and would never return.
"How's my mother?" He asked casually, swallowing thickly as he continued to stare at his feet.
Sam shook his head while Kurt's eyes welled up with tears. "Your mom's fine. She's with my parents right now. But... how are you? I mean, your mother wanted to tell you herself but she's still very upset, which is understandable."
"So she sent you?" He asked as he met Sam's eyes.
"Yeah, I mean... I'm your best friend," he said and stood up, walking over to Blaine and placing a hand on his shoulder. "I'm really sorry."
Kurt looked down at his hands, awkwardly folding them in his lap. "Me too, Blaine," he said softly as he glanced up at the 25-year-old.
"Well..." Blaine sighed, running a hand over his face as he stood up and glanced over at Kurt before back up at Sam. "Thanks for telling me, but it was unnecessary for you to come here all the way. You could've just sent me a text." Blaine said with a shrug, before walking past Sam and into the kitchen.
"I-Is he serious?" Kurt asked quietly as he looked up at Sam. "I mean, I would... god, I'd freak out if my dad had passed away but he..." He trailed off and bit his lip.
"He's never had a really good relationship towards his parents..." Sam explained with a sigh, "But I'd actually thought it would... well, get to him. This reaction is just... not him."
Kurt nodded and took a deep breath, "I'm gonna go talk to him," he said softly as he walked over to the kitchen. "Blaine?" He asked quietly, seeing Blaine standing leaning against the counter with his back towards him. "Are you okay?"
Blaine turned around, his eyes glistening with fresh tears. "Sure! Why wouldn't I be?" He asked wit a sniff, his voice sounding broken as he closed his eyes for a moment and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Because no one would be after so shocking news," Kurt whispered as he walked over to him and took his hand away from his face.
"Oh? Well, I don't see the point in being sad or upset." Blaine shrugged, turning his head away from Kurt. He really didn't want anyone else to see him like this.
"Hey, look at me," Kurt whispered softly, reaching up to turn Blaine's face back towards him. "It's okay to cry. You don't need to hide from me."
"It's not okay to cry!" Blaine hissed and took his hands from Kurt's grip as he let out a small sob, yet so quiet that Kurt didn't even noticed it. "I'm not going to cry over him. He was nothing but the man who got the woman I used to call my mother pregnant," he breathed out, not meeting Kurt's eyes.
"That's not true, Blaine. I know how you always wanted to make your father proud back in high school," Sam said as he stepped into the kitchen.
"But that was before this fucking monster beat me up and treated me like shit!" Blaine snapped back at Sam, wiping his tears away as he took a deep breath.
Kurt frowned as he bit his lip and watched Blaine closely. "What happened between you and your parents?" He asked slowly, hoping he wasn't overstepping any boundaries.
Blaine looked back at Kurt then glanced back at the ground. "My father hated me," Blaine stated simply, "I came out of the closet around the age of sixteen and he... well, he called me a failure and told me how much he wished my mother's had an abortion when she was pregnant with me. He always used to tell me how perfect my brother was and how much he wished I would've turned out like him," Blaine said with a sarcastic laugh. "Successful and straight. That's what my father wanted me to be like. There couldn't be a gay son in the Anderson family. I ruined our reputation." He grinned to himself and ran a hand through his curls. "He simply disowned me when I turned eighteen and that's when I moved to New York." Blaine explained casually.
"But what about your mother?" Kurt asked as he reached out to take Blaine's hand again, giving it a gentle squeeze.
"My mother? Oh, since I came out she-" he trailed off, swallowing heavily. "She never spoke a single word to me again." The 25-year-old said.
"I lived next door and didn't notice what was going on in your family?" Sam asked in disbelieve. "Why did you never tell me about that? You said it was complicated, but... this is more than complicated."
"My father made us seem like we were the perfect little family. Of course he didn't show how much he despised me." Blaine laughed, more tears welling up in his eyes. "How was I supposed to tell you how broken my family was? I didn't want to lose you so I never told you about any of it," Blaine sniffed softly and shook his head. "I'm sorry," he said brokenly as he squeezed his eyes shut and Kurt pulled him into a hug.
Kurt could feel the tears in his own eyes as he wrapped his arms tightly around Blaine, not letting go of him as he gently stroked a hand through his curls. "Shh, I'm here," he whispered softly and kissed the top of his head.
Sam couldn't hold himself back as he stepped closer to them and rested his head on top of Blaine's. "You don't have to be sorry, Blaine, it's not your fault." The blonde said soothingly as Blaine tried to calm down.
"I've never been good enough for anyone... I-I thought I'd lose my only true friend if he found out..." Blaine sobbed, holding tightly onto Kurt as he straightened up again, taking deep, shaky breaths.
"You're never going to lose me, alright? You're my brother; I'll always support and love you." Sam smiled softly.
The crying man looked up, smiling through his tears. "Thank you so much," he breathed out and bit his lip to hold his sobs in as he turned back towards Kurt with a teary smile.
"Thank you too." He said softly, reaching a hand up to wipe off his cheeks. "I must look awful right now, I'm sorry."
Kurt rolled his eyes fondly. "Stop apologizing. You still look as gorgeous as you usually do." He said and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
"I hope I'm not going to turn out like my father, I want to be a good dad," he said with a soft chuckle.
Kurt's eyes widened and he raised his eyebrows as Blaine talked about being a father. They still hadn't decided if or if they weren't going to keep the baby (they haven't had the time to actually decide that yet) – but the fact that Blaine actually seemed to do want this baby, made Kurt's face light up right away.
"I'm positive you're going to be a good dad," Kurt smiled and pressed a small kiss to his lips without really thinking. He already felt like him and Blaine was this cute little couple – but only for two weeks.
"Wait, what are you guys talking about?" Sam asked confusedly as he pulled away a little.
"Well, Sam. You're actually going to be Uncle Sam soon," Blaine laughed and wrapped his arms around Kurt's middle with a smile. "Because even if it's a total miracle... Kurt's pregnant," he said as he looked back at the younger man in his arms.
Sam's eyes widened. "Really? Oh- oh god this is amazing!" he beamed and pulled both of them in for a hug. "This is so cool!"
Blaine didn't tear his gaze away from Kurt's and smiled as he slowly leaned in and kissed him softly. "Yeah, I think so too... It's really amazing..."
