Kurt's eyes remained wide as Adam stepped right in front of him, glancing between him and Blaine. Kurt wasn't sure whether he should start explaining or let Adam speak – but he was definitely aware of the fact that Adam was really mad. Who wouldn't be?
"Adam, I-""How dare you to cheat on me with such a-" he trailed off and looked over at Blaine, shooting him a glare before he shook his head, "Go ahead. Explain."
Kurt ducked his head as he felt his eyes welling up with tears, biting his lip nervously. "I- Adam, I'm so sorry, I-"
"I said explain and don't apologize! I don't need your bloody excuse," Adam hissed and tilted Kurt's head up to look at him. "Look at me! What the- what did I do that you'd cheat on me? Wasn't I good enough anymore?"
Kurt felt a tear running down his cheek as he shook his head and took a step back from Adam. "You started drinking and treating me like shit!" he cried out.
"Watch your language!" Adam crossed his arms over his chest, continuing to glare at Kurt.
"You know what? No! The entire time I let you control me, but that's over now." The 22-year-old one said angrily and bit down on his bottom lip hard.
"And that gives you the right to cheat on me? You could've talked to me! Could've said that you weren't happy but you-" Adam took a deep breath and squeezed his eyes shut. "And you. You ruined our marriage, you-" He glanced up at Blaine and furrowed his brow; then Kurt interrupted him.
"Let him out of this!" The younger one stepped in front of Blaine before he looked right into Adam's eyes. "You're the one who ruined us. You made me feel like I was some freaking slave for you. I did everything for you! And what did I get in return? Nothing!" He snapped, "Blaine made me feel special again, for one goddamn night! He was there for me when my husband came home drunk and yelled at me. He's been there for me all the time when I couldn't talk to you because you weren't there. You-"
A loud slap echoed in the room, making the other people in the bar turn around to look at Adam and Kurt. The 22-year-old was covering his left cheek with his hand where his husband had just landed a slap which had been pretty hard and made the younger man's cheek turn red.
Blaine immediately rushed to Kurt's side, making sure he was okay before he shoved Adam back from him. "That wasn't necessary!" He yelled and pushed himself in front of Kurt so he was facing Adam who was much taller than he'd expected – bad luck.
Adam laughed and looked down at Blaine, placing his hands on his hips as he rolled his eyes. "Is this supposed to be frightened?" he grinned and raised his eyebrows.
Blaine glared up at him and pushed him back. "I want you to leave my place and never come back here." The older one growled. "Now."
"What if not?" Adam asked with this weird grin on his face.
"Then I'm gonna punch this nasty grin out of your face!" He threatened him as he stepped towards him, raising his fists a little.
"Now I'm scared." Adam laughed and pointed at his cheek. "Do it. Punch me."
Blaine's eyes darkened as his friend Puck, who'd been watching from the beginning, stepped to his side and shook his head, whispering, "He isn't worth it, Blaine."
"I knew you wouldn't do it," Adam said and shrugged lightly as he stepped back from Blaine. But then something inside the 25-year-old clicked and he raised his fist quicker than Puck could stop him and punched Adam right in the face; his left eye to be exact.
Adam stumbled backwards, letting out a sharp cry as Blaine was about to reach out again, but this time Puck was there to stop him from doing so. "Blaine, stop!" Puck said and held him back as he began to struggle.
"This asshole needs to be taught a lesson!" The curly-haired man hissed, taking deep breaths and calming down after a few minutes and Noah let go of him again, patting his back.
"Violence isn't going to help him with that, Blaine," Puck tried, helping Adam to stand upright again before walking him towards the door with Blaine's bartender, making sure Kurt's husband wouldn't be causing anymore trouble.
"This is going to have consequences!" Adam yelled before he disappeared.
Blaine took a sharp breath before he glanced back at Kurt who still had his hand over his cheek. "Does it still hurt?" The older man asked as he took Kurt's hand away and pressed a small kiss to his cheek as the younger one shook his head.
"You hit him..." he whispered quietly, biting his lip as he ducked his head again. "...is your hand okay?" Kurt looked up into Blaine's eyes, gently stroking over the other man's knuckles and smiled weakly.
"I-I'm sorry, he just- god, Kurt. He slapped you! How was I supposed to just let him get away with that?" He breathed out and pulled Kurt into a hug, kissing his cheek again.
"This is all just because of me... I'm so sorry," the younger one whispered brokenly as he clutched Blaine's shirt with his hands and sobbed quietly into his chest.
"Don't, hey... It's not your fault, okay? It's over now. You're safe with me, I promise." Blaine wrapped his arms tightly around the crying man and fought back his own tears.
"Dude," Puck came walking back over to him with the bartender, looking a little worried. "Who was that?" he asked Blaine with wide eyes.
"My husband..." Kurt said softly as he pulled away from Blaine. "I- I'm gonna go upstairs, okay? I just need a moment to myself," the younger one said as he wiped at his eyes and rushed towards the exit of the bar and up into Blaine's apartment.
Blaine sighed as he nodded his head and watched Kurt walk away. "Shit," Blaine groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I think I fucked this up even more."
"Yeah, well I told you beating him up wouldn't be worth it, didn't I?" Puck asked and placed his hand on Blaine's shoulder again.
"Not helping, Puck." He sighed and shook his head as he walked to sit on one of the bar chairs. "I just... I shouldn't have done that. Now he's even angrier and he slapped Kurt for god's sake!" Blaine swallowed heavily, grabbing a bottle of water from behind the counter.
"Look, just try to calm down for Kurt's sake and go up to him. I don't think he really wants to be alone right now. Go and check on him," Puck said and smiled before he made his way back over to his friends.
Blaine sighed and ran a hand through his hair before he made his way upstairs. He knocked quietly onto the guest room's door as he heard Kurt sobbing in his room.
"Come in," Kurt's voice sounded so sad and quiet which made Blaine want to hug and cuddle with him all over. The 25-year-old opened the door, fighting the urge to let his own eyes well up with tears as he saw Kurt sitting on the bed with his legs crossed and a pillow in his lap, his eyes red and puffy from all the crying.
"Are you okay?" He asked quietly even if he already knew the answer.
Kurt shook his head and breathed out a small "No," before Blaine joined him on the bed and wrapped his arms protectively around him.
They didn't need to say a word – Blaine just knew that he had to be there for Kurt right now. He rubbed his back soothingly and pressed a small kiss to his cheeks as the other man continued to quietly sob in his arms. Blaine felt so sorry for him and he hated feeling like it was all his fault.
