Time would fly by for Kurt and Blaine. They could spend a whole day just laid out on a simple tartan blanket in the sun holding each other. But time does other things too then simply run past. Sometimes the more time you spend with someone the more you realise, you don’t want to spend time with them. Flaws begin to show and things you never thought of having any importance start to irritate you. Now, don’t get Kurt wrong, he loved Blaine, to begin with…
It wasn’t because Blaine was majorly annoying, it wasn’t because he pressured him to do anything, It was because he didn’t love him anymore. It was that simple. And it made Kurt feel broken inside. Everything he wanted Blaine could give him. He was handsome, talented, chivalrous and undoubtedly smitten for him. But time took its toll and Kurt slowly became to realise that he didn’t love him. He loved the fact that someone loved him, and he grew to realise that what he felt was false and he could not hurt Blaine in that way. Someone that loved him so much, someone that cared so much, someone who would throw everything aside and run to Kurt, sweep him up and hold him until the pain stopped. But he could not stop time, its changes and the epiphany he had.
~~~
“I-what?”
“Its over Blaine Im- Im so sorry. I loved you, I really did but I just don’t anymore.” Blaine’s eyes squinted in confusion. His watery eyes looking around for some sense, some reason for this and the only words he could produce was :
“What?”
“I don’t love anymore Blaine. You did nothing wrong, I just don’t feel the same as we were. I did at the beginning, I really did Blaine. I just, time just-“ He paused to think, grasping around in the air for the right words. “It made me realise I don’t love you. I loved that you loved me after all the effort I made to go after you. It felt amazing, no one ever loved me before Blaine. Please understand”
“What?” Blaine’s eyes becoming more puzzled.
“Blaine. I don’t love you any more. I don’t want to hurt you. Its over.” A sudden bluntness being delivered in his voice.
“Wh-what?” Blaine looking more and more confused by the second. Kurt’s eyes fell down, the grey and blue glasz filling with guilt and sadness. He didn’t want to drag this out.
“I just, don’t feel it anymore Blaine. I don’t love you anymore.” Blaine shook his head then squinted again in confusion. Tears began to properly fill in Blaine’s eyes. His arms wrapped tightly around him self as he took a deep, shaking breath.
It was over. Kurt was ending it.
How could this happen. Blaine did everything for Kurt and anything for Kurt. Blaine once again lost for words.
“Wha-what?”
“Jeez, Blaine!” Kurt was tone became highly irritated, he wanted this to be short and over a quick as possible. Pinching the bridge of him nose, he exhaled. “Its simple, I don’t love you anymore. So I don’t want to be with you. That’s it, please understand me.” Kurt emphasising the please with all his heart, trying to recover from the sudden aggression in his voice he never wanted to bring up.
Silence fell over the conversation. Blaine swept his hands over his face dragging them down and flopping them heavily back to their place.
“Kurt, you. You’re- you’re just confu-“ Blaine reached out to Kurt’s hands and Kurt turned his head away letting his hand slip through Blaine’s like silk, unable to look at Blaine.
“I know we haven’t done stuff in a while because I’ve been away. Just Kurt, common, please just let me-“
“No, Blaine.” Kurt pushing away Blaine’s desperate hands.
“Kurt, please listen, let me hold you.” Blaine reaching for Kurt’s hips to bring him in for an embrace.
“No Blaine!” Kurt bellowed pushing Blaine’s hands violently away. Blaine stumbled backwards looking like a broken hurt puppy. He tried to produce words again, but not even and ‘what’ could spill from Blaine’s wobbling mouth now turning into a harsh breath through hot tears.
“It’s over Blaine. Deal with it.” Kurt turned on his toes and walked away. Kurt felt like a bitch, but it had to be done, there was no other way of dealing with this, right?
Blaine was now standing there alone, feeling as if a part of him has been ripped away. And it had.
Blaine didn’t even bother about anything else happening that day. He ran, fists clenched and wanting to punch something but just didn’t have the heart to do it. Or now half the heart he had to do it. Kurt had ripped half of his heart away when he turned and walked away.
Blaine marched up and into his room then threw his bag down knocking his floor lamp over. It fell with a shuddering smash. Blaine turned suddenly to see white misty glass scattered across the floor. His fists became lose as he melted down into the floor, a total mess. Tears rolling down his angry crumpled face. A waterfall of tears streaming down his checks. He and Kurt had been together for so long and now this, out of nowhere, Blaine couldn’t grasp why this had happened.
He gone recently away a week to his uncles. It was lovely, his uncle lived in New York and wanting nothing more then to take Kurt with him, but matters as he was dealing with were deliberately meant to be a secret from Kurt for good reasons, reasons now irrelevant.
Somehow he had left New York in an ecstatic mood, with brilliant news for Kurt and came back to have his heart broken.
Blaine really thought they could be together forever. As clich as it is, he really believed Kurt was the one.
They had sex. That is something Blaine thought was special. Its something you do with someone that love’s you right? And commits to loving you. Or was this some false fairy tale that Blaine had been stupid enough to believe was happening. Friday was meant to be a good day. School over’s for the week, you can go have fun and just forget about your problems. But not like this. Never like this.
Blaine breathed in, the back out deeply. The sound of his breathing echoing around his room. Blaine was an experienced performer; he could compose easily and knew he could use this to his advantage. He was a young adult. He could clear this up and clear all the over stuff up too. Starting with the glass.
Blaine roughly brushed his sleeve against his face to wipe away his tears. Blaine rose back onto his feet, sniffed and walked over to the broken glass and pushed the glass with his foot aimlessly. Blaine sighed and thought he better clear it up now before he couldn’t be bothered. Although he only had mopping on his bed, eat about 10 tubs of ice cream, crying and watching any film in which included a perfect man Blaine could drool and cry over.
Blaine turned to get a broom from the other side of his room and tripped, straight into his dresser. Knocking everything off it as another ear piercing smash ringing around Blaine’s room.
“Fuck!” His arms clenched around his stomach. He flopped back against the wall, he was completely winded. Arms still wrapped around his waist, face collapsing into his knees he slowly slid down against the wall.
Blaine looked up and around his room; anther deep breath was pulled into his lungs. His eyes travelled around the room he saw what the ear piercing smash was. A broken beautiful hand carved photo frame. His exhaling breath turned into a shaking sob.
~~~
It was a large rectangle shaped frame filled with at least twenty photos of Kurt and Blaine. Smashed. Scattered across the floor.
A picture of them at Christmas out in the snow, sticking their tongues out to catch the snow. One of them lying in the sun under a tree they had carved a heart with ‘K + B’ onto. Kurt giving Blaine a piggy back round the park with Rachel trying to jump on Finn’s back to join in their fun. Another at Blaine’s birthday party, Kurt giving Blaine a beautiful black acoustic Gibson guitar surrounded by the Glee club in ore of his beautiful present, Puck in the background with cake all over his face, cross eyed and wondering why he didn’t get a “sweet ass gitaur” for his birthday. And Blaine’s favourite picture, placed directly in the middle.
Kurt and Blaine kissing in the rain on their eight-month anniversary.
The frame now broken into the back supporter, the four beautiful hard crafted borders, the board of the photo frame with the pictures stuck to it and the glass smashed into a million pieces.
Blaine picked up the board with of photos and looked at it with his eyes now beginning to well up again. These were beautiful memories that he thought meant to last. They were supposed to mean something. They were supposed to mean love. Blaine gripped the board of photos with all this strength, gritting his teeth at the same time. There was broken glass surrounding Blaine now.
He could relate to the glass. His heart felt exactly the same.
Blaine wanted to cry like never before. He wanted to stamp on the already broken frame. He wanted to rip up his bed. He wanted to burn everything that Kurt had ever touched in his room. But he just couldn’t. He had to be stronger.
He loved Kurt. He knew it, he had never felt like this before. So compassionate and yet so angry. So in love.
Love.
The reason why people just give up everything and go for it. People spend their life trying to find love and Blaine had found it.
He just needed to get it back.
