I knew they'd patch things up. I wish all the best in their relationship. They look happy together. :)
MY BBS OMFG YOU SUCK SO BAD ANDREW GET AWAY FROM KURT
Oh my gosh I haven't realized how much I missed Blaine! YAY KLAINE!
KURT'S NOT A CHEATER. ANDREW'S A DICK. KLAINE IS TRUE LOVE.
Blaine glanced at Kurt, not surprised to see his boyfriend staring intently back at him, hands clasped together with a determined look on his face. Kurt gave him a curt nod, glancing at the other direction. Blaine followed his line of gaze, cracking his knuckles and stretching his neck until he heard a small pop. It was like they were in a movie where the heroes were just waiting for a single drop that will make the battle explode all around them.
"Ready when you are." Kurt simply said, waiting for Blaine's go signal. Blaine patted down his hair, adjusted his sunglasses and fixed his bow tie before nodding in reply.
"Let's do this."
Both took a deep breath before walking out of the arrival area and into the pit of reporters, photographers and whoever else were waiting for them at LAX. Alex had warned them that they'd be facing tons of people once they arrived knowing that they've reunited again after so long. Kurt was worried about Blaine at first but Blaine calmly assured him that everything was fine.
As soon as they were within reach, the paparazzi swarmed all around them and Blaine could swear he's never experienced something as intense as this before. He's never been hounded directly and only a few would talk to him and ask him about Kurt, but never like this. It was like they were in a battle field full of annoying voices and flashes of light.
"Kurt! Kurt! What are you—"
"Have you two—"
"Kurt! Did Andrew—"
"Will you grant us an—"
Amidst all the "Kurt! Over here!"'s, Blaine wondered how Kurt was avoiding all this so elegantly as he walked a few steps behind him. It seemed like he was somehow shoved back into the reality that this was Kurt Hummel and this is the world that they both live in. Kurt just bowed his head and continued walking forward, waving a little and smiling at the paparazzi. Blaine blinked in surprise when Kurt looked back at him, probably noticing that he was slowing in his steps.
Kurt sighed to himself, he knew Blaine would be overthinking stuff once they arrived back home, that's just like him. He shook his head slightly before reaching out a hand and grabbing one of Blaine's, it felt like déjà vu. The paparazzi went crazy as more photos were snapped when they held hands and walked towards the van that was waiting for them. Alex was waving at Kurt and she helped them hop inside the van, instructing the driver to take care of Blaine's luggage.
Once settled in, both men loosened up and slumped down on the car seat, feeling exhausted in just a few minute walk. "What a welcome." Kurt commented, taking off his sunglasses and scratching his eyes. He looked at Blaine who was doing the same.
"Indeed." Blaine replied, tucking away his sunglasses and stretching again. He feels better confined in a quiet area than out there where the hounds run amok. Alex were both looking at them like they're both crazy.
"You guys are crazy." She finally voiced out. In a quick motion, she enveloped them in a big hug. "I missed you a lot!" Alex cried, "Especially you Anderson, you're one heck of a guy." She added. Blaine grinned sheepishly.
Kurt broke away from the hug, pinching Alex's cheek which made her cry in pain. "Happy birthday! Well…belated." He said. Alex let out a small 'psh' that came with a pout that made Kurt and Blaine burst out laughing.
"Sorry we didn't make it on time but at least we're back now, aren't we?" Blaine tried but he just received a light punch on his arm courtesy of the woman.
A few moments later, Blaine found himself in the middle of a conversation that he didn't want to have just yet which involved Kurt's schedule, his own schedule since he still has the unfinished album with his Dad and interview arrangements if the pair permits it. He tried to fight a sigh that was threatening to escape his lips.
It was as if they weren't even allowed to breathe once they stepped back to Los Angeles. Also, Blaine wanted to talk about things other than Kurt's work schedule; he wanted to know Kurt's answer to his proposa—proposition. He mentally kicked himself in the ass, it was not a proposal, Blaine, don't be stupid. You're not there yet.
Kurt still hasn't given his answer about Blaine's suggestion of finally living together because his grandparents chose that moment to appear out of nowhere and a lot of stuff already happened after that so now it was bugging the hell out of Blaine, especially since Nick looks like he doesn't have a life and would much rather annoy Blaine about the matter. But as much as Blaine wants to know, he knew that Kurt had more important matters to currently attend to.
"Hey," Blaine suddenly said, attracting the attention of the two people with him. "Oh sorry, but can you drop me off at Music Sheets?" He asked. Kurt frowned at this.
"You're not going to go home first?" Kurt asked curiously. Blaine shook his head in reply. "Are you sure?" He tried again and Blaine nodded this time.
"I think that since we're back, I'd like to talk to some people I haven't seen in a while." Blaine smiled reassuringly as he saw how worried Kurt looked. He must have been thinking about what Blaine would do to Wes and Sam, poor men. "And you've got tons of things to do." He pointed out.
Kurt stared at him for a long time before finally deciding to speak up, seeing right through Blaine. "Can we..." He started, looking over at Alex this time. "Can we put off the schedule thing until tomorrow—?"
"Kurt—" Alex interjected but was cut off by Kurt as well. Blaine tried to hide the smile that was probably already on his lips. He loved the way Kurt just knew things when it comes to them, their observation skills are top notch.
"I know I'm pushing it Alex but this is going to be the last one, I promise. I just…one day more?" Kurt pleaded for Alex to agree.
Alex looked at the pair in front of her and sighed, she can never win with these two. "Okay but this is the last straw Kurt Hummel. Everyone's not as patient as me." Alex said. "From tomorrow on, we're back to business, do you hear me?"
Kurt grinned at her response, making Alex smile in the process too, no matter how pissed she claims to be. "Thank you Alex. Can you drop us off at the Pent? James is there already right?"
Blaine blinked at that, he was actually thinking of going home. To his apartment. That's home? Right? "No, Kurt, I was—"
"The Pent first, please? I'm sure you missed James too." Kurt innocently said and Blaine couldn't help but narrow his eyes at him suspiciously.
However, he just shook his head in defeat, chuckling a little. "Alright, alright. We'll go to the Pent. And I missed that furball too." Blaine said.
After dropping them off at Kurt's penthouse and the customary greeting that Kurt and Blaine did to the staff that they knew, they finally settled in. The first thing that Kurt did was to run to his room and flop down on the bed, making an imaginary snow angel on it while Blaine laughed at the sight presented to him.
Blaine was surprised when he felt a presence by his feet and a smile graced his face when he saw that it was James. He picked the cat up and petted it, "Long time no see, furball. How are you? Have you been good?" Blaine talked to the cat.
"Blaine, come here and cuddle with me please. Bring James with you too, he needs to have a quality hug." Kurt called out from his bedroom and Blaine followed suit, laughing.
"Can I change my clothes first? I'd want to be in appropriate cuddle clothing for this." Blaine chuckled and Kurt nodded, agreeing and resorting to deciding to change into a more cuddle-appropriate clothing as well.
Kurt got up to get a change of clothes but stopped when he saw Blaine opening a drawer—a drawer just for him where Kurt keeps all his spare clothing that he either brings with him or forgets whenever he stays over. Right, Blaine has a drawer.
He looked around his room and noticed that there were a lot of things that were Blaine's as well—aside from his cabinet drawer that's filled with Blaine's clothes, a little robot in the bedside table that Blaine brought with him before and Blaine's cellphone and wrist watch near it.
In a moment of pure curiosity, Kurt rushed to the living room of his house and he looked around as well. Blaine's spare shoes were at the side near the door, his coat on Kurt's coat rack and when he looked towards the dining and kitchen area, there were also Blaine's stuff for making cupcakes and coffee.
Lastly, just for the sake of it, he went to the bathroom and inspected. Indeed, there were a lot there as well—Blaine's shaving cream, his hair gel, a toothbrush; all of which belonged to Blaine and was sharing the same space as Kurt's items.
"Kurt?"
Kurt snapped out of his thoughts as Blaine entered the bathroom as well, noticing the sudden quiet atmosphere and Kurt running around the house. It was as if a boulder fell on Kurt's head and he suddenly had this idea occur to him.
"Kurt, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Blaine worriedly asked. He went to him and placed his hands on Kurt's shoulder, massaging it lightly. "Aren't you tired? Let's get to bed." He suggested.
Kurt faced him at that, seemingly in deep thought. "Blaine, how many times have you slept here?" He asked suddenly, staring straight at Blaine's hazel eyes.
Blaine frowned at his question. "I've lost count…but several times now. Why?" He asked back. There were a few moments of silence as everything fell into place in Kurt's head and Blaine could actually see it on his boyfriend's face. "Is this a Eureka moment? I can feel it's a Eureka moment." He commented.
Kurt's face lit up as he guided them both to the bedroom, sitting Blaine down on the edge of the bed. Blaine just followed suit, waiting patiently,
"I know we haven't talked about it since we've left Long Island." Kurt started and it took a while for Blaine to catch up to what he was saying. Once he did, his eyes widened in realization.
"Oh…There's no rush, Kurt. It's okay if you—"
Kurt sat next to him and gave him a smile. "I know that but I just realized…we've practically been living together, haven't we?" He straightforwardly said. Blaine just stared at him, waiting for him to continue. "Look around you, Blaine. Look around the Pent. Every corner and space here has both of our stuff in it. You even have your own drawer." Kurt smiled, pointing it out.
Blaine did look around the room and he understood what Kurt meant. Blaine slept there most of the time when they don't have the time to meet because of Kurt's busy schedule. He'd brought his bathing essentials a few months back as well to make sure he doesn't use all of Kurt's. It does seem like they've been living together for a while now even if it wasn't official.
Kurt reached out to hold Blaine's hand and squeezed it in his. "It's so natural for us to always be together that it becomes unnoticed." He said. "While you were away, I remember that I'd always think to myself 'If Blaine was here, he'd be playing his guitar by now' or I'd keep thinking that I'd be making us dinner or that we'd be in bed, fooling around all night."
"Kurt…" Blaine managed to say.
"You're this constant presence that I'd like to have for a long time." Kurt continued, confessing all his thoughts. "And I don't know why I wasn't the one who thought of it, why I wasn't the one who asked if you want to move in with me."
At that moment, Blaine threw all his troubles out the window. Who cares about where they were living? Kurt's penthouse or Blaine's apartment? It's all the same, it's just a simple place. What matters is that they're together and that Kurt agrees to living with him. Maybe forever.
"So…is that a yes?" Blaine asked tentatively and Kurt couldn't help but smile. Blaine smiled back at him, face full of understanding. "Yeah? 'Cause, you know, all my bags are packed. I'm ready to go." Blaine sang.
Kurt playfully whacked him on the chest. "You're such a dork." He said. Blaine just shrugged in reply. Kurt moved in closer to him, "I love you."
"I love you more." Blaine whispered, closing the gap between them and kissing Kurt with all the passion he was feeling right at that moment. Finally, it felt like everything was right in the world again.
"So here's the thing, you're going to be my slaves for the upcoming days as I move in with the love of my life. Are we clear?"
Wes and Sam sighed as Blaine chastised them for being "horrible and absolute assholes to Kurt while I was away". They just nodded in defeat as they knew what wrong they have done as well. They were back at MS&L and Blaine was trying to figure out what to do now that he's back. He has contacted Simon and had apologized for his disappearing act and vowed to be more professional.
Blaine has decided to continue his music career but with lesser demand. He requested that he was not put on mainstream media because that exhausts the hell out of him; he'd much rather produce an album like an indie musician. That way, he could still work at The Coffee House and play gigs at MS&L. He wanted to keep his sanity at the same time do the things he loved to do.
"Look, Blaine. We're sorry about what we did." Sam apologized first. Blaine just stared at him, arms crossed over his chest.
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to. Good thing he's going to be there later tonight." Blaine clapped his hands merrily in front of him, earning groans of pain from Wes and Sam. "Hey, it's not my fault you guys were asses."
"Well, can you blame us?" Wes defended himself. "You told us not to tell him!"
"I did but I also told you to take care of him, did I not?" Blaine countered. He stood up and clapped his hands once more. "Alright, now that all the album talk and music stuff is finished, I need to head to The Coffee Shop. I miss that place."
Sam stood up as well. "You do know that we're late right? And that you need to apply again, right?" Sam pointed out. Blaine just shrugged in reply.
"The manager will be glad that I'm back especially Holly. Where else can you find someone who makes great cupcakes? Also, I'm the best barista in town." Blaine said with a laugh. "No offense, Sam." He added.
"A whole lot taken." Sam pouted. Blaine just patted him in the back. "Come on, we've got tons of things to do in the shop. Bye Wes." Sam said, waving at Wes as they made their way out of MS&L.
Before Blaine could leave, Wes grabbed his wrist and stopped him. "No more vanishing act, okay?"
"I hope not. I'm not planning on it." Blaine grinned. Wes couldn't help but smile back at him, it's good to see the old Blaine back, he missed that genuine smile of his.
"I'm glad you're back." Wes voiced out. Blaine shrugged his shoulders, still grinning sheepishly.
"I'm glad I am too." Blaine replied. "See you later, Wes."
Kurt was in the middle of a meeting with his talent agency, they were giving him an earful over what he's done in the past weeks and he wasn't going to hear the end of it. At least for now anyway. But he was glad they were actually enjoying the publicity that Kurt was receiving because of his current relationship status.
"We have to play nice until everything simmers down and returns to normal, can you do that, Kurt?" One of the men asked him and Kurt nodded in reply. "We're not going to interfere with your personal life but keep the drama at the minimum. You've got a lot of things to do with all the contracts and deals you've signed a few months ago."
The woman on the opposite end turned to Alex by then, "I just wanted to inform you that Ms. Berry now has a handler so she's out of your hands already. Less headache, right?" She said. "But he's your responsibility," The woman pointed at Kurt. "Make sure Kurt's on the right track and Kurt, please cooperate."
"Yes ma'am. And I'm terribly sorry for all the commotion I've stirred. I'll do better." Kurt apologized.
"We know you will. You're incredibly talented and professional, you just have to learn from this." The man said. "Alright, let's get back to work."
After they're finished with the customary 'thank you's and 'good job's, Alex and Kurt headed out for lunch, ready to have a run through Kurt's schedule but before they did, Alex was giving Kurt a look and Kurt didn't miss it.
"What?" Kurt asked. Alex shook her head in reply.
"Nothing important. Just…" Alex paused, her voice changing from serious to teasing in a blink of an eye. "So, you and Blaine huh? I hope a marriage proposal is still far off to the future, after all you've put yourselves into. You have to take it one step at a time." She giggled.
Kurt rolled his eyes. "It's living together, Alex. And yes, marriage is still far for us two." Although, I'm excited for that too. Kurt smiled to himself. "Don't worry. We're not going to stir shit up again. We've talked it out and we'll work on this thing together."
"This 'thing' being…?"
"This whole celebrity thing." Kurt said. "Anyway, enough of that, what's on my schedule today?" Kurt asked, suddenly in work mode.
"Okay, that's what I want to hear. We've got…" Alex diverged into discussing Kurt's schedule on the upcoming weeks which included meetings, deadlines, auditions, filming for Sing and everything that Kurt's been doing in the past. He actively listened as he vowed that he will do better. He didn't want to disappoint his fans and everyone who believes in him.
By the end of the day, both men were exhausted. Blaine didn't actually think he could start working at The Coffee House again but all the staff missed him immensely that they demanded he work that instant and Blaine was happy to oblige. He missed the smell of coffee, the rush of people coming in and out of the shop and the slow hours that came with it.
Of course, Blaine didn't forget to play a short set on MS&L once he was done over at The Coffee House. MS&L was packed that night with people knowing that he's back and that he'll be playing again for all of them. Wes kept teasing him about being the main money maker for the music bar and Blaine just shrugged him off.
Blaine didn't know how he did it but aside from all the things he's already done, he managed to get some of the stuff from his apartment and pushed Wesley to drive him to the Pent. After dropping him off and helping him unload, Wes bid him goodbye, saying that he really needed to get back to the music bar as t hasn't closed yet. Blaine knew he was just trying to avoid Kurt but he also knew Wes would man up and apologize soon enough.
As soon as he got to Kurt's door, he placed the box he was holding on the floor and stopped, fishing a key out of his pocket. Blaine stared down at it, smiling to himself. He's got his own key now, the key to their home. It made him want to squeal in excitement.
'Come on, Anderson. It's just a door key. You're being ridiculous.' But he knew he wasn't. This was a big moment for him. He took a deep breath before moving his hand to unlock the door.
Then the door suddenly swung open and standing there was Kurt, long sleeves rolled up and still in his work clothes with an apron around his waist. "Blaine! I knew I heard you shuffling out here, what are you doing?"
Blaine just stared, key in hand before Kurt noticed what he was trying to do. Kurt saw the way Blaine's face turn from surprised to bummed and he just smiled apologetically. "Kurt." Blaine managed to say.
"Oh…I'm—did you want to—?" Kurt stammered. "I'm sorry! Let's try that again. I can lock the door from the inside then you can—"
Blaine just shook his head and chuckled at their ridiculousness, finally walking inside the Pent and hugging Kurt tightly. "No, it's okay." He said as he felt Kurt hugging him back. Blaine could smell dinner on his clothes. "And besides, I've got all my life to try out that new key I got, right?"
Kurt smiled in Blaine's gelled hair, hugging him tighter. "Yeah. Yeah, we've got all the time for that." He said, barely above whisper.
Blaine took one deep breath before pulling away and kissing Kurt on the lips. "Don't let me keep you from making dinner. I still have to get all those boxes outside, it will just take a minute." Blaine smiled.
Kurt nodded but before Blaine could turn his back, Kurt said, "Oh and Blaine?"
"Hm?"
"Welcome home."
The smile on both of their faces was enough to tell them that this is exactly where they both wanted to be.
