Author's Notes: There's a fairly large time lapse in this one, but at this point, the plot has definitely come to a close and I just wanted to push the happy ending. Thank you so much to those of you who left me reviews and thank you to every single person for reading this! I never thought that my first fic would be loved so much! :)I'll be posting the epilogue right after this!

Prince Blaine Anderson recovered quickly, what with all of the affection he was being showered with, not only by Kurt, but by his family, friends, and other Royals. Still, he had been told to remain in bed for one whole month after waking so that the servants could monitor his progress. Duchess Santana and Lady Brittany sent one more package of medicine to help with the recovery, and before Blaine knew it, he felt like a human being again.

“I still can’t believe you were going to kill yourself,” Blaine murmured from where he lay tangled in Kurt’s close embrace. He had been fully healed for a few weeks now, and the war was nearly over. News of the boys’ marriage had spread like wildfire across the countries of Dalton and McKinley, and it was met by nothing but enthusiasm. In fact, many lovers of the same gender had fearlessly stood forward and proclaimed their intention to be married soon, as well. Kurt and Blaine were an inspiration to the formerly quiet and cold country of Dalton.

Kurt cuddled closer to Blaine, their skin tingling wherever it touched. Their clothes had all been discarded in small heaps around the bed.

“I could not bear to live in a world without you,” Kurt explained.

“I know,” breathed Blaine, pressing a kiss to Kurt’s temple. “I just can’t bear the thought of you dying.”

“Try being in my shoes for the past four months,” Kurt said lightly, and Blaine chuckled because that dark time was the past and they were moving towards a new dawn.

“Mmm,” Blaine sighed, trailing kisses down Kurt’s jaw. “I love you.”

Kurt sighed and allowed Blaine to roll him over so he was on his back and Blaine was holding himself above him. Kurt lifted his head from the pillow so that he could reach Blaine’s lips and press a soft kiss to them. “I love you, too.”

“I’ll always love you,” Blaine murmured, kissing him again. “Forever.”

Blaine kissed his neck.

“And ever.”

He lowered his head and pressed his lips to his chest.

“You and me, baby.”

His stomach.

“I’m talking eternity.”

His hip bone.

“Longer than eternity, even.”

Kurt giggled. “Hush, Blaine,” he whispered. “Hush and make love to me.”

When the news of King St. James’ death reached the Dalton castle and the surrounding villages, both Dalton and McKinley lit up with celebrations. For nights on end, the streets were lit up and painted with murals of heroic acts and of love and of life.

Kurt and Blaine, along with many other young Royals, abandoned the castle on these nights and joined the villagers in their joyous dances throughout the streets, singing of peace and prosperity, and of love and happiness at last.

“But, who will rule Carmel now?” Blaine had asked his father before Kurt had tugged him out of the castle for one more party.

“A young woman, Quinn,” said the King, eyeing their clasped hands with kindness, rather than the coldness Blaine had always expected from him. “She is unmarried and pregnant, but she is intelligent and strong and much kinder than her father. A peace treaty will easily be crafted with her.”

And the good news kept coming.

Now that Dalton and McKinley were being prepared to join as one land, a new castle would be built on the border of the two lands, for the new Kings, their loyal subjects, and their future family. The climate was warm like McKinley, and the forest was not dense nor dark. The beach was a short carriage ride away, and the ocean could still be seen from the roof of the South Tower, only now it was much closer. The mountains bordered the other side of the castle, and the special spot beside the Dalton lake that glittered with youth and childhood, the one that Blaine and Kurt and Rachel had visited so many times, was only a few steps away.

The old castles would be used for the homes of many Royals, those who originated either from Dalton or McKinley. Many chose to move to the opposite country to experience something new, and found that they loved it.

Now that the two militaries had combined into one very impressive force, Duke Finn was stationed on the very coast of McKinley, right by the ocean, and right next to the New Directions’ theatre. He and Rachel would be married come summer.

Kurt and Blaine could not have asked for a better future. Not an ounce of unhappiness lived within them or the lives of their loved ones.

Princess Rachel returned to see her brother on the morning of the wedding. She looked older, more mature, and dressed in brighter colors and let her hair loose more often. She was an artist now, who also happened to have the title of Princess.

“I can’t believe the way life turned out for us,” Rachel said, her voice muffled because she was currently buried in the arms of her older brother.

“And we thought the future would be nothing but dreary,” Kurt said, smiling at his sister and pulling away. He turned to grin at Duke Finn, who stood beside her. “Congratulations. I could not think of a better man for my sister.”

“Oh, Kurt!” Rachel threw herself into his arms once more.

“Rachel, you’re going to wrinkle this jacket,” Kurt complained, but with no real force behind it. He hugged his sister back and then rolled his eyes when she sniffled and pulled away again.

“It’s just, we’re all grown up and everything worked out and dreams really do come true, Kurt! They do! We’re growing up so fast and oh, gosh!”

Kurt laughed at his dramatic sister. “As long as we have love in our lives, we will be forever young.”

Rachel dabbed at her eyes with a dainty handkerchief and then grabbed Finn’s arm to lead him to their seats in the Grand Hall of the new castle.

Kurt paced back and forth, waiting for Blaine to finish speaking with his family.

The new castle held features of both of the old castles. There were large windows from McKinley, and tall stone towers from Dalton. There were glittering gold walkways and glass atriums from McKinley, and cozy nooks and velvet tapestries from Dalton. It mirrored the lives of Kurt and Blaine. The single life of Kurt and Blaine: two beautiful things combined to make one.

“Hey,” said a quiet voice behind Kurt. “Are you ready?”

Kurt turned to see Blaine, standing near the closed doors to the Grand Hall, smiling at him with so much light in his eyes that Kurt felt as if he were standing on the surface of the sun.

“God, I love you,” sighed Kurt.

Blaine laughed and stepped forward to take Kurt’s hand in his own.

“Here comes the future,” said Blaine when he heard the trumpets blare on the other side of the door.

“Here it comes,” said Kurt as the heavy doors began to open and the music began to play.
