Author's Notes: Kurt and Blaine share their first dance and learn about each other.
Author's Note: the songs mentioned in this part are "Around the World" by Daft Punk (1997) and "Spin, Spin, Sugar" by The Sneaker Pimps (1997) (the Moby Remix http://youtu.be/AtcfOjfo9ng). Yeah. Go forward about 2.5 minutes to get to the beat of Spin Spin that I had in my head when writing them dancing. Oh my sweet dead god I would love to see them dance to this. Darren and Chris must film this for me. IT WILL HAPPEN. I should also mention that this story takes place in 2023 in my head...so the songs would actually be 26 years old...making them 4 when they came out. Fuck I am old.

Kurt led them to the dance floor, hips already shimmying to the pounding bass beat, and twirled to face Blaine, who flicked his eyes up to Kurt's guiltily. Kurt smiled to himself and shouted above the music to be heard.

“I really love this DJ! Who would ever remember these songs and spin them again? They're twenty years old!”

He lifted his hands above his head and closed his eyes, allowing the rhythm to take him away and just feel the music. God he loved to dance. To Kurt Hummel dancing was one of life's greatest pleasures.

Around the world, around the wo-orld, around the world, around the wo-orld...”

Blaine listened to the reconditioned track and berated himself inwardly. You chose this DJ for Christ’s sakes! The least you can do is dance with this gorgeous man! He willed his hips to move but his nerves were slowly getting the better of him. He simply didn't know Kurt well enough yet to try to dance with him.

Santana caught his eye from across the room and pointed at Kurt. He could hear her in his head. “What the fuck are you waiting for, Blainers? A written invite?”

Blaine sighed and took a step toward Kurt before jerking to an awkward stop right in front of him.

Kurt felt the presence of Blaine's body because he definitely couldn't hear him above the din and opened his eyes. He realized that his dance partner looked kind of like a deer in headlights. Oh shit. Ohio's nervous. Better do something about that, I want to feel those arms around me.

Kurt danced his body closer to Blaine's and leaned close to his ear to shout, “You can dance with me Blaine! It's okay! Put your hands on my hips – I'm not going to try to run away with your virtue or anything!”

Kurt pulled his head away to see Blaine's face flush crimson – Kurt could see it even in the pulsing light of the club and Blaine's eyes flicked away as he bit his lower lip.

Oh my GOD, he actually blushes! Kurt thought. He decided to keep pushing and hoped he wasn't pressing his luck.

“It's okay man!” he shouted again, “Santana knows what's she's doing. She would never lead us astray! C'mere!” Kurt grabbed both of Blaine's arms, wrapping them around his waist, and settled his hips against Blaine's, rocking them both in time to the beat as the song twisted and merged into another old track.

Spinnn, spinnnnn, suuuuugaaaaaaarrrrr....”

Blaine bit his lip and let himself be carried away by this man, who obviously had confidence in spades. He forced his body to stop freaking out and just let Kurt guide him and let himself feel Kurt's body under his fingertips. He felt like they were on fire, resting on Kurt's hips as he rocked against him, keeping time with the lyrics and sending Blaine's senses into overload.

Call on me...spin spin sugar...”

Kurt's wrists clung lightly to Blaine's shoulders as their bodies twined together, hips occasionally bumping and catching in the crowded haze of the dance floor. Bodies rose and fell around them, keeping rhythm, but they felt alone together in this touching, meeting, heated place. Blaine's eyes sought Kurt's, illuminating every few seconds as the lights flashed, making striking blue flare and then go dark as midnight in pulsing staccato.

Crawl on me...spin spin sugar...”

Blaine had never danced like this before; sweet slide and erotic touch. He had never had a man as beautiful as Kurt to dance with either. Kurt trailed his fingers down Blaine's biceps, his forearms, and placed Blaine's hands on his lower back. Blaine could feel his muscles moving below the slinky fabric of his shirt and he bit back a groan at the feeling. Flashes of what that skin might look like under the sliding fabric, what he could do to the skin there with his mouth, teeth, oh my god with his tongue...

Blaine had to fight to keep himself from moaning out loud. Oh my god, I don't know how I am going to get away with dancing with him for much longer he thought.

After placing Blaine's hands, Kurt curled his long fingers around Blaine's hips and leaned back, grinding onto Blaine's thigh in time to the throbbing beat.

Blaine was going to die. And it was all Santana's fault. He was pretty sure it was inappropriate to fuck someone on the dance floor and considering that a.) He didn't know where to begin so it would be AWKWARD AS HELL and b.) That this was HIS club he probably shouldn't do that.

Kurt worked his way back up, and smirked at Blaine as the song ended and another began. He leaned in to Blaine's ear, careful to pull his hips from Blaine's as he did so.

“You are a tricky one, Blaine Anderson. You DO know how to dance!” he whispered.

Blaine smiled his first real smile since this meeting began.

“I never said I didn't!” he shouted back, grinning. “'C'mon. Let's go back to the table and finish our drinks.”

As they made their way back to the table, the entire crew noted their retreat and joined them, asking about Blaine, who he was and where he was from. He smiled and laughed freely, answering their questions and adding another layer of cordiality to the group. Kurt watched it all from under his lashes, seeing his friends admire this man and listening to his charismatic voice flow and curl around him. Kurt found himself staring at Blaine as he laughed and joked with Santana and wondered aloud how they had ever met. Blaine was so nice.

Santana turned her gaze on Blaine s she answered, “Oh, he's pretty bossy but he needed someone who could handle the pressure when he wasn't around!”

Blaine scowled at her for a moment but it was a losing battle and he just laughed and replied, “Please. You're bossy whether I'm here or not. I may own this place but everybody knows who actually runs it!”

Kurt turned his wide-eyed gaze on Blaine.

“This place is yours? Did you design it?”

Blaine actually looked smug for a moment.

“Yup. One day last spring I was walking by this old brick warehouse. It was built in 1894 and needed a complete overhaul. All I could see was what a great club it could be. Right outside Lima, close enough to the colleges to attract attention from students, and the ceilings were incredible. I couldn't stop thinking that it would be so amazing inside with more light so I had that skylight designed. It's two layers of glass with a row of red, green, and blue LCD lights around the rim. They can make any combination and it totally sets the mood, right?”

Kurt nodded, dumbstruck at the sheer creativity of this man.

“So what's really cool is that you can also project anything you want onto the lower pane...so I can make it tree branches or tinsel or whatever I want to accent the mood of the club. You can also make it translucent during the day.”

Blaine paused and glanced at Kurt, noting his intrigued expression.

“You actually love it, don't you?” he asked.

Kurt just nodded, ducking his head and taking a sip from his drink.

Oh, Blaine. I need to know more about you. What IS it with Ohio?

***

They talked late into the night, swapping New York stories (“How is it that you were in New York for 6 years and never saw the ballet, Blaine? How?”) and learning each other, each man completely absorbed in learning about the other. Slowly Kurt's friends bade them all goodnight and Kurt ws stifling yawns. Blaine, ever the gentleman, finally suggested that they call it a night. “Honestly, you are asleep on your feet. Can I drive you home?” he asked, wondering at his own boldness.

“I would love it seeing as how my friends have abandoned me. I highly doubt my dad would mind if I called him for a ride, but this is far more convenient,” Kurt replied, “and I'm not ready to say goodbye to you just yet.”

Blaine was reaching into his pocket for his keys as Kurt finished his sentence and stopped with his hand halfway out of his pocket, glancing quickly at Kurt. He saw that the other man was giving him a sideways glance, his bottom lip between his teeth.

Their eyes met and Blaine blushed again but this time he turned his full smile on Kurt. Kurt had that odd holy-shit-I'm-back-in-High-School feeling again and he reached over to take Blaine's hand in his, his eyes asking silently if this was okay.

Blaine glanced down at the invitation, heart beating faster and faster, throat dry, and fingers slightly trembling. He considered but a moment before taking Kurt's offering.

It took no time to reach Kurt's house in Blaine's black BMW. Kurt didn't need a car in the city and he relished the ride and the soft leather seats. Charcoal, thank you very much, was lovely against the black. Blaine surprised Kurt again when, after turning off the car, he hopped out quickly and made his way to the passenger side door to let Kurt out. Kurt just stared at him a moment before Blaine broke the silence with what Kurt now knew to be his personal charm.

“Door to door service, good sir,” Blaine purred, bowing slightly and flicked his eyes up to grin at Kurt's amusement.

Kurt laughed as he exited the car and hooked his arm in Blaine's as they made their way up to the front steps, Blaine chuckling low in his throat, making Kurt glance at him in wonder.

Ohio, Ohio. What have you done to me? He wondered as they reached the front door and Blaine turned to Kurt, arms unlatched.

“I am so glad Santana introduced us this evening,” Blaine said, putting his hands into his pockets and curling his shoulders in slightly. He didn't quite know what to do now. What else to say?

“And you really are a fantastic dancer,” Kurt breathed, feeling the air between them full of unsaid thoughts. “Blaine, I...”

Blaine watched as Kurt's hands lifted to his shoulders, grounding him, and closed the space between them, their mouths meeting in a soft, gentle kiss, Kurt's lips moved against his, opening slightly and turning, changing the angle. Blaine felt his soft tongue kitten lick against his lower lip and then he was gone, pulled back, eyes searching Blaine's.

“...I'm not ready to say goodbye to you.” Kurt finished, shuffling slightly and puffing out steam in the chilly winter air.

“Then don't,” Blaine replied, completely thunderstruck. “Come to the club again tomorrow. It's open mic night. You don't have to sing, but maybe I'll play for you. Meet me there tomorrow night?”

“I'll be there.” Kurt replied, before turning and opening the door, smiling one last time at Blaine, and closing out the night.

So that just happened Blaine thought, his smile bursting over his face as he turned and made his way back to his car.

***

Ohio, Ohio, Ohio...Blaine, what are you? I've never been here before thought Kurt as he leaned against his father's door and willed his beating heart to slow and felt his body shaking. He was utterly terrified, so why couldn't he stop smiling? Tomorrow, Blaine. Tomorrow. He thought, and made his feet bring him upstairs to sleep on it.
