Author's Notes: Somehow I can only write this story when Glee isn't on hiatus. Now that it's back, behold! A new chapter. Only one or two more to go, and then an epilogue.

Cooper takes Blaine out for the night. They get dinner at an okay restaurant with a good happy hour and Cooper tells Blaine all about his latest project. Blaine is so over-joyed and relieved to not have to worry about losing the shelter that nothing else seems to matter. Nothing can get him down.

He had called Sharon and told her the good news. She burst into tears. Blaine finishes off the last of his third drink and Cooper orders up another for him, slinging an arm over Blaine's shoulder. Blaine grins widely. He can't wait to tell--

He freezes. His eyes widen and his hands fly up to cover his mouth. Cooper looks at him.

"What's wrong, Squirt?" he asks.

"Kurt!" Blaine exclaims. Coop frowns.

"The guy from the shelter? What about him?"

"I had a date with him tonight!" He pulls out his cell phone and checks the time. It's nearly 3 AM. "Oh no, oh no, oh no." He hits a button to get to his recent calls and stops. There was a call from Kurt a few hours ago. It said the call wasn't missed. He looks at his brother in a wild panic. "Did you answer my phone?!" he demands.

"Whoa, Blainey-"

"Answer the question! Did you answer my phone and not fucking tell me?"

"I... yeah, but it wasn't on purpose, I just forgot. Man, I was excited to be helping you out. Your phone rang while you were calling the lady from the animal shelter and I answered it and told whoever it was that you were my bitch for the night and you'd call him later." He pauses. "Wait, you talk to Kurt? I thought you fucked things up with him!"

"No, you jackass, we had a date tonight... our first date, and I missed it, and--oh god, what did you say to him? If you really said that I'm your bitch--"

"I..." Cooper winces, "may have made a comment about you loving me and bending over for me tonight? Which, I suppose, out of context..."

"COOPER!" Blaine could punch him right in the mouth. "Every time you decide to help me you ruin something! Why the hell--you couldn't have read the caller ID before you answered someone else's phone?! You couldn't have at least told me that my phone had rung?!" He pulls his own hair in frustration. "Kurt probably hates me because I was a no-show and I didn't call because I was busy drinking with you and dammit, Coop!"

"Look, it'll be fine, you can call him in the morning and explain, Blainey," Cooper says soothingly. "I'm sorry, okay? I didn't even--I wasn't thinking."

"No, you weren't. You're never thinking, are you? About anything but yourself." Blaine pushes away his new drink as it's brought to the table. "I wanna go home."

"Blaine-"

"Now, Cooper." Coop sighs.

"Alright."

Blaine shoots Kurt a text during the cab ride back to his apartment.

To: Kurt

Any chance you're still up?

He gets a response a few minutes later.

From: Kurt

This is Rachel. Kurt spent the evening crying on my boyfriend until he passed out. You either owe him a great explanation or you owe it to him to leave him alone forever.

Shit. Blaine rubs at his face, wondering how he ever could've forgotten about Kurt.

"He respond?" Cooper asks cautiously from the other seat.

"He's asleep. He cried himself to sleep. I'm such an asshole."

"I'm the asshole. I thought we established that," Coop argues.

"You're going to help me fix this," Blaine tells him with a glare.

"That's why I'm here, Squirt." Blaine won't admit it, but as much as Cooper does fuck up, he's not so bad at fixing things again.

To: Kurt

I'll explain to him in person in the morning. Is he at your place or are you at his? Can I stop by?

From: Kurt

Better be good. I'll forward you my address.

Kurt wakes up on Rachel and Jesse's couch alone with a soft pillow under his head and a warm blanket wrapped around him. He doesn't feel so bad until he realizes he slept in his nice clothes, and proceeds to remember why he was so dressed up in the first place, and why he fell asleep in his date clothes on Rachel's couch.

"Hey," a soft voice says. He looks up to find Rachel holding two cups of coffee. She offers him one.

"Thanks," he replies quietly, taking the mug and moving to sit cross-legged on the couch.

"You might want to get a little fixed up," Rachel suggests.

"Why?" Kurt mutters, "I have nothing to look good for."

"Maybe," Rachel says, "or maybe not. Blaine is coming over to explain why he didn't show last night. He said it's a good reason and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt before I decide to skin him alive for making you cry."

"Rachel, you couldn't hurt a fly," Kurt argues, not able to help the sudden nervousness twisting in his stomach.

He manages to fix his hair and somewhat straighten his clothing out, but he has nothing to change into. He gets up to answer the door when the bell rings half an hour later.

"Wow," Blaine says, taking Kurt in. "You look..."

"Like I slept in clothes from last night on a couch?" Kurt finishes.

"I... No, you look amazing."

"I looked better last night."

"I'm sorry I missed it," Blaine says earnestly.

"Yeah. Are you going to explain why that was?" Kurt asks.

"...Can I come inside?" Blaine suggests. Kurt holds the door open wider and lets Blaine enter. He goes to sit on the couch, assuming Blaine will follow him. Rachel is sitting on a chair in the living room reading over a script for the billionth time. Kurt knows she has it memorized and wants an excuse to eavesdrop without seeming too eager. Blaine takes a deep breath and faces Kurt.

"I was going home to get ready last night, and when I got home, my brother was there."

"Your brother who you had the falling out with?" Kurt clarifies. Blaine nods.

"He's who answered the phone when you called. Just to... I mean, I wasn't with another guy. I mean, I was, but it was my brother. And I mean, I wasn't doing that with my--you know what I mean, right?" Kurt nods, amusement playing on his face and making Blaine relax a little. Kurt feels a little less like he wants to die and breathes a sigh of relief.

"Why was your brother there? He sounded... happy."

"He uh," Blaine grins a little, "gave me a very large check. For the shelter. Enough to keep it open and funds to update the facilities... He knows how much the place means to me and after our falling out he wanted to make it up to me and shows he cares about what's important to me. He--we haven't talked, he had no idea that you and I are even friends. Last he heard, I had embarrassed myself in front of you and was likely never going to see you again. He thought you'd be someone from my work calling to give me a hard time or something. He had no idea..."

"You talked about me to your brother?" Kurt asks. Blaine laughs lightly.

"Almost every day after I met you, yeah," he admits.

"Wait, how can your brother afford all of that?" Kurt frowns. "That can't be cheap... Keeping it open long-term and giving the place a makeover?"

"My brother is um," Blaine sighs. "He's an actor."

Kurt blinks. "Rachel is an actor and she couldn't afford that, Blaine."

"No, I mean, he..."

Jesse walks in, coffee in hand. "This better be one hell of an apology after last night," he says, leaning against a wall and sipping his drink. Blaine nods quickly.

"Kurt, by the time I remembered last night, you were already over here asleep. I was just so... I have no idea how I forgot, it was all I was thinking about all day. I'm so, so sorry I missed it. You have to believe how badly I wanted to see you. I just... This was a huge deal for me, even if my brother was just doing this for... good press, or something, it's huge to me."

"Is he famous?" Rachel asks eagerly, no longer hiding her attention to the conversation. "Your brother, I mean." Blaine sighs.

"Unfortunately." Kurt perks up. There's a knock at the door.

"BLAINEY! What's the hold up? Do I have to come save the day again?"

Blaine rolls his eyes. "And yet he still is so uncivilized, he can't manage to use a doorbell..." He stands to let his brother in. Kurt, Rachel, and Jesse peer over to catch a glimpse of Blaine's apparently famous brother. "Cooper, act like a human being, would you? Go back outside and wait in the damn car like I told you," Blaine scolds him. Cooper scoffs.

"Oh come on, don't spoil my fun. I wanna meet this kid." He ignores Blaine, pushing past him and into the living room with a million dollar smile.

Rachel screams.

"OHMYGOD COOPER ANDERSON IS IN MY HOUSE!" Jesse covers his ears and looks horribly disgruntled at the idea of an actor he isn't too fond of being in his apartment.

"I know, I know," Cooper grins, "I'm always glad to meet a fan, Miss Rachel." He strolls over and takes her hand, kissing it and winking at her.

"Coop, give it a rest," Blaine says.

"Yeah alright," Cooper concedes, brushing his hair out of his face as he turns to see Kurt on the couch. "Oh, you were right, Squirt, he is too good for you."

"Coop," Blaine grits out. Cooper reaches to ruffle Blaine's hair.

"Relax, Blainey, I'm just messing around." He extends a hand to Kurt. "Cooper Anderson. The prettier, more successful brother."

"I hate you," Blaine mutters.

"No you don't, Blaine, calm down."

"No, I really, really do." He looks at Kurt, who's still staring at Cooper, amazed. "This is my idiot brother, who decided it'd be good for me to work at a movie theater so I could see all of his movies for free and brag about my famous sibling. The people I work with know about it because Cooper walked into the theater a week before one of his big releases and caused an uproar. They started giving me a harder time and making me do crappier jobs because they think I'm some privileged kid who's just working for fun and not because I really need it. Which I do."

"Because he refuses to take my money for himself, even when I just want to help him out."

Kurt opens and closes his mouth a few times before realizing he's gaping like a fish at the most attractive man in America. "So your brother is Cooper Anderson," he finally manages.

"Yeah," Blaine says.

"Oh god, when I saw you at the movie theater-"

"I was only a little disappointed that you were going to see his movie," Blaine admits. Cooper lights up.

"You saw my new film? What'd you think?" He sits next to Kurt on the couch.

"It was amazing!" Rachel blurts. "Your acting choices are so unlike any other actor in Hollywood these days. You're so direct and indirect at the same time." She sighs dreamily.

"I like this girl," Cooper declares. "Didn't you love how I-"

"Cooper," Blaine cuts in, "this isn't about you, shut up."

"Right," Coop says, straightening up. "Right, this is about your boyfriend, sorry." He turns back to Kurt. "So I heard you met my baby bro because of a cat."

"I did," Kurt says. "Toby is a great cat, he--" He freezes, face falling dramatically. "Oh no."
