Hybrids were known to be emotionally confused, mentally ill beings that were no good for anything. In society, they were seen as uncultured. They were beaten and spat at. They were used as circus stunts, house pets, slaves... They were jailed and kidnapped. They were raped. Their use in the world was to be cute, silent, and out of the way. They were brought into the world by animal and human sexual interaction, coming about in the late 16oos. The interaction between animal and human became more of a pattern later in the 1800s. It wasnt so unheard of in the 80s, but became illegal over the years because people found that hybrids had qualities that threatened mankind and the government as a whole. Their animal instincts were seen as a danger in society. There were many laws passed in regards to hybrids.
Hybrids couldnt vote, mary, go to school, eat in restaurants and shop in markets, or even be put in hospitals. If they were hurt or injured, they were not able to be cared for. They were not even seen as one sixteenth of a person, even though they were three fourths human.
It was seen as shameful to be in a romantic relationship with a hybrid if you were a human. Although, they didnt care if two different types of hybrids mated. Hybrid cats and hybrid dogs would mate, causing even more irregularities in the pattern of appearance.
In the late 90s, hybrid orphans were placed in mental hospitals. The story behind hybrid care is a gruesome one. Theyd do horrifying things to child hybrids in hospitals. The punishment was the worst aspect of life in a hybrid hospital. Theyd hang them by their ears as punishment for being out of control. Theyd starve them. If they were sick, they be restrained in their own vomit. If you were a boy, youd have your genitals amputated at ten. if you were female, theyd cut your tail off.
They were treated like animals. They were animals. To the public, they were not even partly human. They had no rights on this earth.
But they could walk. They could talk. They could sing, dance, learn, breathe, and love. They had feelings, thoughts, emotions... they were humans. Just because they had pointy ears and a tail, they were different.
And God forbid something is different in this world.
