"Oh, that's my scrapbook from sophomore year!" Kurt exclaimed, pulling it out of Blaine's hand. "You don't need to look at that."
"Come on, Kurt," Blaine cajoled. "I bet you were cute." Kurt moved to put the book back in his nightstand. "Please?" he pleaded coyly.
"I have no willpower when you look at him like that," Kurt muttered handing the book back to Blaine.
"I know," Blaine grinned, wiggling his eyebrows at Kurt. Kurt let out a surprised laugh and Blaine laughed too. "Tell me about the pictures."
They went through the book, Kurt insisting that Blaine not laugh when he saw how he looked back then.
"Stop it," Blaine insisted. "You were adorable."
Kurt flushed and Blaine relished the fact that even after a year together, he could still garner that reaction out of Kurt. "And here's our first official trip to the Lima Bean." Kurt pointed at the page. "It was a little outside of town, but it made a great hangout and the coffee was amazing."
"When I was at Crawford, we used to drive up there all the time," Blaine told him, and Kurt gave him a look of disbelief. "I'm serious."
"That's so funny," Kurt told him. "I'm sure I would have remembered seeing you there."
"I was probably already on the show by the time you started going there," Blaine pointed out.
"True," Kurt agreed with a sigh.
"Though I did go home for a few weekends when I first started filming the show and I met up with friends there – while I was still an unknown."
Kurt flipped past a few more pages and was startled when a picture fell out into his lap. "Oops," he said. "Must have forgotten to take this extra one out."
"Can I see that?" Blaine asked, staring at it over Kurt's shoulder. "Is this from the same day as the other one?" Kurt nodded. "Well, I'll be then."
"What?"
"You see that table of Crawford uniforms in the back?" Blaine pointed into the background of the photo of Kurt and Rachel.
"What about them?"
"That's me," Blaine said quietly. "Third from the left. I was wearing my Crawford sweater because I didn't want to stand out."
He and Kurt shared a long look, quiet now. They both knew how close they'd come to meeting back then and for Blaine it only cemented things were Kurt was concerned.
He and Kurt were meant to be. There was no other explanation.
