Kurt's hands were shaking as he and Blaine made their way inside the McKinley High gym. He had no idea what kind of reception they were going to get. Wes and David were right behind them, ready to take on anyone who might have had nefarious intentions, but Kurt was still nervous.

He took in the cheesy decorations and saw Blaine grinning out of the corner of his eye. “What?” Kurt asked.

“I've never been to a prom,” Blaine replied. “I got my GED once I was emancipated.”

“So...” Kurt began, staring at him with wide eyes, “This is a big night for you then.”

“It's a big night for both of us. You've never been to a prom either.”

“It's about as tacky looking as I imagined,” Kurt muttered. He could hear the whispers and feel the stares as they made their way around the room, looking for the rest of New Directions. He knew that Wes and David were right behind them and tried not to worry.

It worked, for awhile. They found his friends, had some punch, danced while different members of New Directions got up to perform and even snuck in a kiss when they thought no one was looking.

It was actually going really well, too well, and Kurt wondered when it would all come crashing down around him.

“Can I have your attention, please?” Kurt glanced up at the stage, seeing Principal Figgins at the microphone. “It is now time to announce your 2011 Prom King and also Prom Queen.”
