Author's Notes: This fic is done! I'm planning to update Monday, Wednesday, Saturday from this point on, until it's finished posting. I'm also planning a sequel, though I'm not sure yet on when I'll start working on it. I'm in the midst of working on a final edit of the entire fic. Once all chapters have been posted, I will be posting a copy of the entire fic in PDF format for anyone who wants it. :D
Kurt couldn’t tear his eyes away from Blaine. He looked both amazing and terrible at the same time. Kurt was kind of glad to see that their break up hadn’t just taken a toll on him – Blaine had clearly suffered.

It wasn’t until a low humming sound started that Kurt realized Blaine wasn’t alone. A handful of his cast members, most notably Nick and Jeff, were standing behind him. Blaine opened his mouth, and Kurt felt his eyes widen.

Oh.

He wouldn't...

“I walked across an empty land,” Blaine began singing, and Kurt’s jaw dropped. He was actually being serenaded, in public, by Blaine Anderson. Blaine continued to sing, staring at him as Kurt froze in place, unable to teary his eyes away. He didn’t even feel Rachel’s nails digging into his arm anymore. “So tell me when, you gonna let me in,” Blaine sang, his tone almost sounding angry, and then he raced down the stairs, passed Kurt, toward the piano that was sometimes kept in the courtyard for when the marching or jazz band had practice out there. He went into the second verse, the rest of the ‘Warblers’ following him down the stairs, moving so that they were behind Blaine and the piano. When the he hit the bridge, some members from the jazz band joined in and Blaine stepped away from the piano, walking slowly in his direction.

The song moved into the chorus for the last time, and Blaine stopped in front of Kurt, who was two steps above him. He held out his hands for Kurt to take, which he did after a moment. Kurt bit his lip, knowing that all eyes must be on them, and wondering what Blaine was going to do next. He kept pulling, leading Kurt through the group of singing boys as the song came to a close. There was rampant applause behind them as Blaine led Kurt into the deserted stairwell that led back into the school and stopped.

They stared at each other awkwardly. Blaine was clearly trying not to cry, and Kurt could fell his own eyes welling up. He wanted to break the silence, find something brilliant and cutting to say to Blaine so he could just turn and walk away. Kurt couldn’t bring himself to do it though. Blaine’s gaze pierced him, blew away the fog that had been there since February and Kurt had seen pictures of Blaine and Sebastian kissing.

Kurt held his breath as Blaine opened his mouth to speak.

“Hi.”

*

Blaine wanted to roll his eyes at his own awkwardness, but he didn’t. He’d planned this whole thing, from flying out the Warblers to the song, and even had a whole speech prepared, and all he could come up with was ‘hi.’

He felt like slapping his hand over his face.

“Hi.” Blaine’s eyes shot up at Kurt’s whisper. Kurt was staring at him, and Blaine could see that he looked torn.

“We need to talk,” Blaine finally said, and he watched as Kurt’s shoulder’s tensed. “I want to explain what happened.”

“I don’t know that I want to hear it,” Kurt spoke quietly, looking down.

“Please, Kurt,” Blaine said. “Please, just listen. The whole thing was a misunderstanding.”

“It’s pretty hard to misunderstand pictures of you two joined at the lips,” Kurt pointed out, his voice low.

“It wasn’t what it looked like,” Blaine replied, and then paused. “And that’s possibly the most clich thing I’ve ever said, but it’s true.”

“Then this is your chance, Blaine,” Kurt told him. “Tell me what happened.”

“I went out with the guys that night, like I told you,” Blaine began, and Kurt nodded. “I wasn’t having any fun – it wasn’t my kind of place, and I missed you.” It looked like the corners of Kurt’s mouth tweaked up just a little when Blaine said that, and he allowed himself to feel hope for the first time in months. “I went out to the parking lot to leave, and Sebastian followed me.”

Blaine sighed, turning and staring down into the courtyard, which he could see from where they were standing. The Warblers had drawn a crowd and it looked like they were signing autographs. “He basically came on to me, and then kissed me against my will.”

Kurt made a whimpering noise, and he had a stricken expression on his face when Blaine turned to face him. “I pushed him away, and we argued. I left and went home, alone,” he continued. “I was going to tell you, but I couldn’t figure out how – and what if you didn’t believe me?” Blaine shook his head. “I was so stupid – if I’d told you, none of this would have ever happened.”

A lone tear made its way down Kurt’s cheek. Blaine decided to be bold, and he reached out, taking Kurt’s hand and cradling it in both of his. He considered it a good sign that Kurt didn’t pull away. He lifted their joined hands and held them to his chest. “Sebastian doesn’t mean anything to me,” Blaine kept going, his voice cracking mid-sentence. “I love you.”

Kurt was silent, staring at him with tears flowing now.

“Please, Kurt,” Blaine begged. “Say something.”

*

“I’m sorry,” Kurt finally said. “I’m so sorry, Blaine.”

“You’re sorry?” Blaine asked, looking confused. Kurt struggled to speak, his emotions overwhelming him.

“I should have listened to you, and…”

“Hey, let’s just agree that we both screwed up,” Blaine interrupted. Kurt nodded, sniffling. Blaine squeezed his hand and then lifted it up to his mouth, kissing Kurt’s knuckles lightly. Kurt couldn’t hold back then and gave into an impulse that he’d been denying since he’d seen Blaine on the stairs. He flung himself into Blaine’s arms, holding him tightly.

“From this point forward, let’s agree that we have to talk everything out,” Kurt murmured. Blaine nodded. “Even if it hurts.”

“Especially if it hurts,” Blaine agreed. How long they stood that way, Kurt didn’t know. It wasn’t until he heard Nick and Jeff’s voices echoing in the stairwell that he pulled back from Blaine.

“I hate to break up what is hopefully a love fest, guys, but the bell’s about to ring and this stairwell will be decidedly less private,” Jeff told them. “And we should find a hotel for the night, too.”

“I should go,” Blaine said, looking at Kurt. Kurt sighed, but then nodded. His dad would kill him if he skipped school, especially if it was to be with Blaine. “I’ll come by later?”

“Please,” Kurt replied, and then pulled Blaine in for a quick kiss. It had been far too long since their lips had touched, and Blaine deepened the kiss on him. Kurt’s head spun and he gripped the collar of Blaine’s shirt in his hands reflexively. The bell rang behind them and they jumped apart.

Kurt clung to him for a second longer, staring into Blaine’s eyes. “I’ll never say goodbye to you,” he promised in a shaky voice, and then Blaine was gone, disappearing into the crowd coming up the steps. “Never again.”

*

Kurt was pacing in his living room, pretty much freaking out. He’d been the object of attention all afternoon; several students even approached him to ask how he knew The Blaine Anderson. Kurt deflected, going from class to class, realizing that Blaine’s stunt to get his attention was probably going to cost him his anonymity with the media and most online forums.

He’d called his dad the minute he’d gotten home, and though Burt had had some reservations about he and Blaine reconciling, his father had said that it was ultimately his decision. Kurt sighed. He’d gone straight to his computer after that, logging into his email, his Twitter, and creating a new account on Tumblr. If he was going to be media famous, he wanted to know what they were saying.

A quick search through the tags on Tumblr made him stop short.

There was YouTube footage. Someone had recording Blaine and the Warblers singing and put it on line.

Well, that would make this all kinds of fun. People were already freaking out over it, from what he could tell.

His phone rang in his hand, and he glanced at the display.

“Hi,” Kurt answered.

Hi,” Blaine replied. “I’m on my way.

“Good,” Kurt said. “We’ve got a lot to talk about.”

*

Blaine knocked on Kurt’s door, butterflies in his stomach. Kurt opened it after a moment, and they stared at each other. Blaine moved instinctively, stepping into the house and pulling Kurt into a desperate kiss. Kurt made a noise of surprise against his mouth and then tangled his fingers in Blaine’s hair. Blaine pushed him backward, effectively shutting the door, and pressed Kurt against it.

“Anyone else here?” he gasped out against Kurt’s lips. Kurt shook his head. Blaine snared his lips again, and then pulled away, leading a startled Kurt up the stairs to his room.

They burst into Kurt’s bedroom, and Blaine barely gave Kurt a chance to shut and lock his door before he was taking him back into his arms and kissing him senseless. In between kisses, clothes came off, until Blaine was pressing a fully naked Kurt down onto his mattress. Kurt was looking at him with wide eyes. This was the first time they’d truly been naked together, and even Blaine felt a little overwhelmed. He sank down between Kurt’s legs, and they both moaned as Blaine moved so that he was firmly against Kurt. He could feel Kurt, hard against his stomach, and it was almost too much.

It had been way too long.

They rocked together, gasping and panting until both of them came with shuddering breaths.

*

Blaine came out of his bathroom fully dressed and cleaned up, and Kurt gave him a shy smile. He was sitting in front of his computer, ready to show Blaine that there was video of the serenade. Blaine crossed the room, and kissed him lightly, before looking over his shoulder.

“YouTube, huh?” he commented. “It was bound to happen.”

“You’re not worried?”

“Are you?” Blaine met his gaze. “Everyone will know who you are now.”

“So?” Kurt raised his chin defiantly. “I can handle it.”

“Can you?” Blaine asked. “It isn’t always fun and games.”

“I know that,” Kurt said softly. “But being with you is worth it.”

“There is… one thing we could do to keep the worst of it at bay,” Blaine began, looking nervous. “We could just make a statement that we’re friends.”

“Are we just friends?” Kurt finally asked the question that had been plaguing him since Blaine had shown up at the school earlier.

“Is that what you want?” Kurt could hear the hesitation in Blaine’s voice, and shook his head.

“No,” Kurt murmured. “I love you.”

“I love you,” Blaine replied, kissing him lightly. “And only you.” A chirping noise came from the corner of the room and Blaine jumped. Kurt laughed and then crossed the room to his vanity near the window. He lifted up a Burberry-esque cover, and watched as Blaine’s eyes widened and a smile spread over his face. “You kept him.”

“I did.” Kurt grinned. “I couldn’t part with him as easily as everything else. I named him Pavarotti.” He looked kind of sheepish for a moment. “I might have thrown most of them away… except the iPod. I returned that and donated the money to charity.”

“Come here,” Blaine said, pulling Kurt toward him. Kurt went willing, wrapping his arms around Blaine’s neck. “Remind me never to piss you off again.” Blaine kissed him gently, and Kurt shivered. “How much time do we have before your parents get home?”

“Enough,” Kurt sighed against his mouth, letting Blaine lower him to the bed a second time. “More than enough.”
