Author's Notes: I apologize if it seems a little...fast-pace and random. THe day I wrote this was the day that one of my best friends, who attends Chardon, Ohio, told me about his school shooting. So that event inspired this chapter.
Fall had set in. The changing weather proved it. Temperatures dropped, leaves lost their color and fell to the earth, animals prepared for hybernation, and ones began coming to school with heavier coats than before. Kurt started coming to school with white Underarmor undearneth his cheer uniform and began wearing his dressy black winter coat with his favorite red and blue fuzzy scarf. Football season was almost over and Kurt couldn't wait to transfer over to cheer for the basketball team. Cheering indoors sounded so much more likeable to him. Blaine began wearing higher socks, some Vans, his dressy grey coat, and a brown and grey checkered scarf. He walked into the school with his hands burried in his coat pockets and head down.

Kurt hurried up to his side with a smile. "Hi!" he said in a rather cheerful voice.

Blaine watched the white puff of breath escape Kurt's lips before he looked up to meet Kurt's eyes. "Wow. You're exra chippery today," Blaine replied.

Kurt let out a short laugh. "I slept good last night so I feel more...awake today!" Kurt said as they walked into the school.
Once in school, they each began un-knotting their scarves as they approached their lockers. Dave had a slow morning, so he told Kurt he was going to come into school late today. So Kurt didn't get to do the morning ritual of walking into school together with Dave. But he didn't mind. He got to walk with Blaine instead. Since that lunch disaster the other day, Kurt realized ust how much Dave disliked Blaine. He didn't want any random drama or mean words to be said, so he tried to avoid being in the same breathing area as the two. But lunch time would be different. Blaine and Dave were both silent unless Kurt asked something of one of them.

"So the Homecoming game's Thursday. You planning on going to Homecoming?" Blaine asked as they got into their lockers, which was shockingly in speaking range of each other.

Kurt didn't look back at Blaine as he worked at his combonation and opened his locker so he could hang up his scarf and coat neatly and grab his morning period's books. "I'm not sure yet..." Kurt replied.

"Kurt, tickets go off sale Thursday. You gotta come. I plan on going."

Kurt scoffed. "Okay, Blaine? No offence, but who are you going to hang out with if I don't go?" Kurt asked as he gave Blaine the what-a-joke expression.

Blaine rolled his eyes and sarcastically scoffed in a way to make fun of Kurt, out of endearment. "Uh, okay. I'm not friend with the Glee kids at all," Blaine said in a voice so full of sarcasm that Kurt tried not to crack a giggle.

Okay, he has a point, Kurt thought as he remembered how Blaine tried out for the Glee club, singing "It's Not Unusual" from Tom Jones. Mr. Shuester had accepted him with opened arms, so glad that the club finally had someone who can sing so amazing and be able to dance so well (unlike Finn, for an example...and Mike as well). Kurt was so excited that Blaine had joined the Glee club, and was also excited to find out how beautiful and breathtaking Blaine's voice really was. He had never seen it coming. So now, they got to spend more time together than Kurt had originally thought possible. Bother Kurt and Blaine agreed that whenever they had to do a group assignment, they would team up. Slowly, the Glee club, who consisted of Brittany, Santana, Quinn, Finn, Mike, Tina, Artie, Puck, Rory, Sugar, Sam, Mercedes, and Rachel, was getting warmed up to Blaine. Every time Kurt turned to look at Blaine, he would see Blaine in swift conversation with different ones each time.

"Fine. Whatever," Kurt snapped, followed by a short laugh to make sure it didn't seem like he was annoyed or something.

"So you'll come?" Blaine asked in a hopeful voice.

Kurt sighed and nodded his head. "Yeah, I'll come."

Blaine's face lit up, causing Kurt to find it quite adorable.

"So yesterday's assignment was to find a song you found pretty, but can't relate to. Hopefully some of you guys have found a song?" Mr. Shuester asked.

It was ninth period. Thank goodness, Kurt thought as he looked around the room for anyone who would raise their hands.

"Mr. Shue? I have a song in mind, if that's okay," Kurt heard Blaine say from beside him. Kurt looked over and looked at Blaine with an anticipated smile.

"Go right ahead, Blaine," Mr. Shuester said happily.

Blaine got to his feet and made it to the front of the room as Mr. Shuester walked over to stand by the piano. Blaine told the piano man what to play. A beautiful melody began.

"I'm here again
A thousand miles away from you.
A broken mess.
Just scattered pieces of who I am.
I tried so hard
Thought I could do this on my own.
I've lost so much along the way.
Then I see your face.
I know I'm finally yours.
I found everything I thought I lost before.
You call my name.
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole.
I've come undone
But you make sense of who I am.
Like walls of pieces in your eye.
But I see your face.
I know I'm finally yours.
I found everything I thought I lost before.
You call my name.
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me wh-
"

Blaine was cut off why an alarm going off.

Everyone fell silent until Mr. Shuester said, "Alright. You all know the procedure. Head to the locker rooms." The alarm sounded a lock down.

The intercom came one with Principal Figgins saying that it wasn't a drill and that everyone needed to go to the locker rooms, their gender of course. It was the immature students who panicked first. Apparently, a stranger had snuck into the school, being scene with an armed weapon on the second floor. All students on the second floor were to remain in their classrooms and teachers were to lock their doors.

Kurt, Blaine, and the rest of the Glee club calmly followed the flailing crowd to the locker rooms. The guys squeezed into the boy's locker room where Mr. Shuester locked the door from the inside and the girls squeezed in to the girl's locker room where Coach Sylvester locked the door from the inside.

Everyone sat on the floor, most backs to the benches and lockers. Some were just sitting in the middle of the floor in a group as the male teachers stood by, awaiting from any additional information from Principal Figgins, who was calling in the Lima Police.

The room was silent until Puck, who sat in the middle of the floor with Finn and Sam, suddenly said, "Dude...what if this guy's...like...with us?"

The room began busting out in laughter. Leave it to Noah Puckerman to lighten the strange mood in the air.

All but one laughed.

Artie saw him first, then a few of the football guys. A guy in a black hoodie with his hood up stood up. He had his hands in his hoodie pocket, suddenly slowly withdrawing them to hold a silver pistol.

"Oh my God!"

"What the fuck?"

"Oh fuck!"

"What the hell?"

The guy pointed it at the room. Mr. Shuester and all of the male teachers let their fears take over and threw their hands up.

"Now I want all of ya to keep yo' god damn mouths shut," spoke the stranger in a black accent.

Blaine and Kurt, who were hunched back in the farthest corner of the locker room, aimed their bodies towards each other and shrank back as far as they could.

"Whoa. Just calm down ma-" Azimio began to say in a calming voice.

"I said shuddup!" the stranger yelled, aiming the pistol at Azimio, who quickly put his hands up.

Kurt saw it. The stranger was shaking, the chin he saw was wet with sweat, and he kept quickly swaying from side to side. It was a crazy guy. He needed help.

Kurt was sure he hadn't been this terrified since Dave bullied him his Freshman year. Hell, he wasn't sure if back then, he was as scared as he was now. He felt his life flash before his eyes, but no harm was come to him. He couldn't care anymore. He latched onto Blaine's hands, who quickly gripped back. Kurt looked at Blaine and saw something in his eyes. But he was too scared to even let himself pay attention to it. He looked back at the stranger with wide eyes.

Out of nowhere, Kurt watched as Dave came up from behind the stranger and tackled him to the ground with a loud colliding sound. He wrapped his arms around the stranger's arms and torso, making it so that the stranger could only struggle to be free. He thrashed around like a fish out of water. "Quick, unlock the door!" Dave said.

Everyone only now noticed the banging on the boy's locker room door. Mr. Shuester hesitated before he hurried over to the door and unlocked it. Police rushed in and took over for Dave as the forced the pistol from the stranger's hand and cuffed his wrists behind his back, pinning him down even with his constant thrashing.

It was about a good twenty minutes before the police had the stranger outside of the school and Principal Figgins announces all student's release in a calm and fashioned order. The boys were the last to leave so they could head back to the rest of their 9th hour classes.

Kurt and Blaine were the last to get up. Principal Figgins stood far off to the side, speaking with Dave, thanking him, as Kurt and Blaine got to their feet, hands still tightly clutched together. Kurt only then realized he had lost all feeling in his hand and just how tightly he had been holding on to Blaine's. He gulped and looked down, waiting for Blaine to let go. But Blaine didn't. Kurt didn't let go until he looked up and met Blaine's large and widened caramel brown eyes.

Blaine quickly took his hand back and wiped his palm against his pant leg, his face beat red. "Sorry..." he mumbled.

Kurt felt awkward, blushing as well. "It's fine," he murmured.

They went back to Glee club, where they passed the rest of the period by in silence, thinking about what had just happened in the locker room. Apparently, a few girls had been show in the leg and shoulder, but were alive. And a guy had been shot in his foot, surviving as well. McKinley wasn't sure if they would ever really forget about today. And Kurt was never sure he'll ever forget about how his first hand-holding happened with Blaine Anderson.
