SOMEBODY:

Chapter Twelve

(back at the crash site)

Elizabeth took a break from talking to the boy. She guzzled down a bottle of water as she looked towards the woods where her husband disappeared. She hoped he was ok. Her thoughts turned to Neal and hoped he was ok too. But she had a bad feeling. A whimper brought her focus back to the car. She recapped the water and leaned back down.

"Hey, how are you doing? Another whimper then:

"Kurt?"

"No sorry, Kurt isn't here." El replied. She wanted him to talk to her, hopefully it would distract him from the pain.

"What is your name?" she asked.

"Blaine"

"That's a great name. A family name?" she asked. El heard a scoffing noise. Okay so no talking family.

"Who's Kurt?" El asked instead.

"My boyfriend" El smiled.

"Do you want me to call him?" she asked.

"I don't know his number off the top of my head. Lost my phone somewhere." He replied through clinched teeth. She hated that he was in so much pain. She took a steadying breath.

"You mean you lost it in the wreck? Can you see if it's near or around you?" she asked. Elisabeth heard his breathing hitch. Then she heard him make a fearful sound. Something was wrong.

"Blaine, what's wrong?"

"I... I can't see, I think I'm blind." He whispered. Her heart went out to him. From his reaction she decided that this blindness was from the accident and not a previous injury. My god, she thought. How horrible.

"It's going to be okay. They will have you out of here soon." She said with a positive and upbeat attitude. She felt a hand at her shoulder. She looked up at the paramedic. She nodded when he indicated his need to speak with her.

"Blaine, I will be right back okay?" Though he didn't speak, he acknowledged her with a little hum. She stood up, turned and followed the man a few steps away.

"They are getting ready to extract him; you'll have to move back to the safety zone." He said.

"The boy, Blaine said he couldn't see." She said. He nodded that he understood. Touched her shoulder then walked away. She sighed. She slowly walked back to the wreckage, gently kneeled down on the ground.

"Blaine, honey they are getting you out in just a few moments and I have to pull back so they have room to work. I'm not leaving, just standing back. I'm not leaving." She said. El heard a wordless cry and felt her heart break. The sounds of a car as it approached drew away her attention. She saw a man get out and walk to the police officer at the safety perimeter. He looked toward her then he crossed to the passenger side of the truck. Elizabeth was curious so she strode a little closer. She could see a young teenager sitting there. He looked distraught and not really altogether. She could see tears flowing down his face.

"Kurt, come on buddy." The older man said. Kurt? Blaine's Kurt? She watched as the father gently pulled Kurt out of the truck. She walked closer to them. The father called out to her.

"Hi, is that boy still trapped?" he asked. She nodded, watched the tall boy in front of her.

"They are about to get him out. He's holding his own right now." She responded. She saw the boy's eyes dart to her.

"You mean he's conscious?" he asked in disbelief. She nodded. "Is he in any pain?" he asked. His voice was small. Elizabeth didn't know what to say to him. But she could tell that he already knew.

"He was calling out for someone. Someone named Cooper and someone named Kurt. Are you??" El asked. He nodded.

"I'm Kurt. His boyfriend." He replied. "Please how is he?" She looked at him sadly. She watched as His father moved closer to him.

"He has a head injury. We don't know how badly. He's pinned in too tight. They have to cut him out very carefully." She stopped as a clang like noise came from the car. She turned to look. She had to jump forward to grab the kid by the arm. He tried to yank away from her, but his father also grabbed him.

"You can't help him right now they are going to get him out. You'll just be in the way." El said. She turned her attention to the older man.

"I'm Burt Hummel. Kurt's father." She nodded as she shook his hand. They turned and watched the scene in front of them. Kurt turned to the woman standing beside him.

"What about Cooper? Was he injured too?"

El looked at him in confusion. "Blaine was calling out for a Cooper but who is Cooper?"

"Blaine's brother. They were both in that car over there." Kurt pointed to the abandoned car on the side of the freeway. "That's Cooper's car. He was going to drive Blaine home before going to the airport. I saw it on the TV; two men dragged Cooper from that car." Kurt said. That's when it clicked in Elizabeth's mind. Cooper and Neal was the same person. How was she going to handle this?

"They haven't found him yet" she said. They looked at her, not understanding.

"What do you mean he wasn't found? Those guys weren't there to help?" Burt asked. Kurt huddled closer to his father. El sighed.

"Cooper was forcibly taken from the car and then from the scene after that SUV that Blaine is in was hit by the semi. But don't worry; my husband is looking for him. He's with the FBI. He... "She was interrupted when the paramedics rushed with a gurney to the wreckage. They watched as they carefully removed Blaine from the SUV rushed him to the waiting ambulance and off to the hospital.

"Come, we'll follow them to the hospital." El encouraged them to their truck. She climbed in after the young distraught boy. She didn't want to leave them alone. She shot off Peter a text explaining where she would be and that she left the rental car at the scene. She could feel Kurt shaking beside her. She took his hand and tried to gently massage the tension away. She knew this was going to be a very long night. She just hoped that Blaine would be okay and that Peter would find Neal soon. She closed her eyes and breathed deep.
