It's strange to think that only 4 years ago I was in middle school, learning about Pythagoras' Theorem, Macbeth and the speed at which light travels. Do I want to go back to those days when everything was smooth and easy sailing? Yes. But I can't. Unlike those who waste their high school life using drugs, having constant sex and getting drunk, I prefer to actually take advantage of my abnormally high I.Q and do as well as I can in studies. That might sound really weird, but I don't really think of myself as a geek or a nerd, more like, talented. North Minnesota has always been like a kind of home for me. I always feel so safe and secure there, especially when I'm alone. I'm not a loner, to be honest, I just don't like to be around annoying people, and at Mckinley, there are a few.
So, anyway, after a long day at school, I walked into my house to be greeted by the stench of what seemed to be my dinner.
"Mom, what the hell happened?" I said as I walked into our once neat and tidy kitchen. It looked like the fridge had had a food fight with the pantry.
"I cooked you pizza!" My eyes were drawn to a brown mush which was served in front of me.
"Um, thanks mom. It looks lovely." This was a lie; it looked like elephant puke.
"Ugh, I can't do anything right!" Mom sighed. I patted her shoulders as she lay her head down on the flour covered table.
"Hey, you did one thing right...you gave birth to a guy who knows how to order takeout." I laughed.
"Haha, okay, fine. It looks like pizza Tuesday's off for good." Mom chuckled as she walked out of the door to get the menu.
Even though my life wasn't perfect, it was still good enough. I was totally grateful to have such a nice mom, even if my childhood was never that great.
