Hugs Not Kisses
Kurt walked through the door after doing a spot of grocery shopping for him and his, boyfriend. He didn’t feel proud to have Robbie, but he didn’t feel sad or angry. Not the way he did when he had Blaine. ‘Stop, Kurt! You don’t need Blaine, you need Robbie.’ Kurt loved Blaine, but he loved Robbie. ‘But I need Blaine, he’s mine!’
“Hey, sweetie.” Robbie replied, looking up from the T.V.
“Hey.” Kurt replied rather plainly as he perched on the side of the sofa next to his lover. 'What are you doing, idiot? You love Blaine!’ Robbie instantly felt a feeling of anger or hurt in the room.
“What’s wrong?” Robbie asked, staring at his wonderful boyfriend. Kurt laughed sadly and let a tear roll down his cheek.
“Robbie, I-I think we should…” Kurt took a deep breath, “We should break up.” Robbie’s heart sank to his feet. ‘No, no. Kurt…’ Robbie was distraught.
“No. Kurt, please!” Robbie was dying inside, he needed Kurt. Kurt, his Kurt.
“I’m so sorry. I-I love you, just not the same way I used to love Blaine.” Kurt immediately felt horrible for saying such a thing, although it was true.
“But, after all we’ve been through...” Robbie couldn’t stop the tears sliding down his face.
“Robbie, I’m so sorry! I-I, we’ve only been together for,” Kurt thought for a bit, “A few weeks! And, we’ve done so many more things in those few days that I ever did with Blaine! I’m just not ready for it.” Kurt saw and felt the hurt Robbie was going through.
“I know.” Kurt’s eyes widened. This was not the answer he was looking for! ‘But, he seemed so sad! What’s going on?’ Kurt wondered, very confused.
“It’s just that, I know I forced you into it. Well, kinda. But, I’m sorry and I know you still love Blaine.” Robbie sounded disappointed, yet he knew that’s what Kurt wanted.
“Robbie. Thank you.” Kurt whispered almost silently.
“And Kurt? Do me one more thing.”
“What?” Kurt was dearly hoping it wasn’t another make-out session.
“Never, ever leave me. If you do, then leave a piece of rope on the doorstep. Even if you hate me; I still need you in my life. Because, without you,” Robbie sighed, “Life would just not be worth living.” Kurt nodded.
“Same here. I need you too, Robbie. You, just you, is what helped me get through college life, you still are helping me.” Robbie pulled Kurt onto the sofa and hugged him tightly.
“I love you, Kurt Hummel. I always thought I was lucky to be a single child, but spending time with you made me realise that I wasn’t lucky. I am so happy that I found you, and now, I don’t wanna let you go.” Robbie whispered, still holding Kurt close.
“I love you too. You really are the world’s best brother and I want us to stay that way.” Although it confused Kurt sometimes, he knew love was meant for him and Blaine. But he knew real friendship was for him and Robbie. He was so blessed to have Robbie in his life. Always and forever.
