Brotherly Love
It was totally normal for Robbie to be out on a Saturday evening with whoever the girlfriend of the day was. But Kurt never went out on a Saturday; in fact he avoided going out at all. Apart from college and the weekly grocery shopping Kurt didn't leave the apartment. But staying in was ok, especially when Robbie was home, Robbie was the best friend Kurt had had in ages.
#You make me feel like I'm living a teenage dream#
"Omg! It's Blaine!" Kurt burst into tears. "Oh Blaine. I miss you, I want you, I need you," But Kurt couldn't bring himself to answer his phone.
It stopped ringing.
"No Blaine, I'm sorry. Please don't leave me!" Kurt was desperate but Blaine didn't call back and Kurt's pride wouldn't let his fingers ring Blaine. The teas poured down Kurt's beautiful face but Blaine couldn't hear his sobs, Blaine was far far away.
Three Hours Later:
"Kurt are you here?" Robbie shut the door quietly behind him. The vast apartment was almost totally silent and the sound of his footsteps echoed on the clean wooden flooring.
Robbie approached the kitchen unit and hung his keys up next to Kurt's, that was when he heard the faint sobs coming from the bedroom.
His and Kurt's bedroom was bigger than he thought it should have been. There were twin beds, two wardrobes, two chests of drawers, two bedside tables and two overhead cupboards. Kurt had made sure the invisible line in the middle of the room that showed their separate sides had been clearly put out. The floor on Robbie's half was covered in very random items of clothing and even Robbie himself was ashamed to say that under his bed was a not so neat pile of underwear. Not that anyone could see, his bed had not been made, the curtains were still shut and every one of his draws were half open due to the that Robbie's version of 'tiding up' wasn't very accurate and many pairs of socks had been rammed into the already overflowing draws. Kurt had once before attempted to cross that invisible line and tidy Robbie's half of the room but unfortunately for him and lucky for Robbie when Kurt had peered into the wardrobe and found that there was not one piece of designer clothing he had run screaming from the room threatening to put up a physical wall so that he didn't have to suffer.
The door to the bedroom was half open and Robbie could see very clearly that Kurt was curled up in a ball underneath his bed covers.
"Kurt," Robbie sat down at the edge of the bed.
"I'm not here," Kurt sobbed loudly. His voice was muffled by the bed clothes that were still over his head.
"Come on Kurt," Robbie pulled the covers from Kurt. "Hey, what happened?"
Kurt sat up and crossed his legs. His eyes were red and puffy and his hair wasn't quite as perfect as it usually was. Even his top (which Robbie assumed was designer judging by the fact Kurt had nothing else but designer clothes) was crumpled and creased.
"Blaine...Blaine called!" Kurt sniffed.
"Well, that's good...isn't it?" Robbie had heard all about Blaine, he had heard every single detail of his life.
"No!" Kurt wailed, "I didn't even answer the phone and I didn't call back. I just couldn't! He...he's going to be really mad at me!" Kurt buried his face into his hands.
"From what you've told me about Blaine he sounds quite nice. I'm...um...I'm sure he wouldn't be angry," Robbie felt very awkward, he had no siblings and none of his friends had burst into tears in front of him before.
"You really think so?" Kurt raised his head.
"Yeah of course. He..."
"Oh Robbie. I'm acting like such a baby! You're being too nice to me!" Kurt smiled slightly but the tears were still running down his face.
"Well you are my baby brother," Robbie smiled and nudged Kurt in the ribs.
Kurt burst into another load of tears. Robbie instantly felt ashamed.
"Did I...did I say something wrong?"
"No, no. It's just that ever...(sniff)...since my dad died everything at home just...(sniff)...has just been so weird and I mean Carole...(sniff)...and Finn have been really nice and everything but...(sniff)...but things have just been so difficult and you're the first person whose really...(sniff)...whose really cared about me in that family like way. You are...(sniff)...the only person here who has accepted my for who I am."
Robbie smiled, he felt the joy rush through him. He hugged Kurt tightly.
"I love you Robbie. You really are the best brother."
"Love you too Kurt."
Kurt hadn't felt so happy since he left Blaine standing on the pavement that very day that everything changed.
