Kurt
“Kurt’s in the hospital, Blaine.”
The words were going through his head as he struggled to see out of his car’s window due to his painful tears.
“He’s unconscious.”
He couldn’t believe that those few words could make him feel so empty, so incomplete.
“He was hit by a car while he was driving home.”
He arrived at the hospital and ran through the doors.
“I need to see my boyfriend now.” He cried to the lady at the reception desk.
“Shh, sweetie. What’s his name?” asked the kind lady.
“K-Kurt Hummel.” Blaine whimpered.
She typed on her computer. “Ah, yes. He’s in ward 23. Would you like me to show you?” She asked kindly.
“No, no thanks.”
The lady reached out and touched Blaine’s sweaty and shaking hand. “Listen honey, everything will be ok.” She reassured Blaine. He nodded and walked off. He walked for a while until he saw Burt, Carole and Finn sitting on chairs, waiting. He ran towards them.
“Blaine, darling.” Carole pulled him into a tight hug. He felt so safe. When they parted he walked over to Burt. He was crying.
“Blaine, son. How you doin’?” Blaine couldn’t speak, he opened his mouth but nothing came out.
“Uh, excuse me. Are you the Hummel family?” Burt nodded at the young doctor. “Well, you can go and visit him, but it’s strictly one visitor at a time.”
“Burt, you should go first, sweetie.” Carole said to a rather tearful father. Slowly, Burt went it, then Carole, then Finn. Blaine was last to go in.
“Courage, courage. Just do it, Blaine.” He whispered to himself. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath and opened the door. Kurt was lying on the hospital bed, eyes closed and covered in tubes and other things. Blaine broke down in tears and walked over to the bed. He kneeled by Kurt, took his hand and said:
“Oh my god. Kurt, can you hear me? No, no. This can’t be happening.” Blaine was being blinded by his tears. He stroked Kurt’s still hand.
“Kurt, I love you. I love you so much and I really-“He was being choked up by his tears. He took a deep breath “I really want you to know that. The other day, when I said you were worthless, it’s not true. And I-I just really love you and… I’m sorry I never got to tell you that.” Tears were falling out of his eyes and on to Kurt’s bed. He sniffed:
“You are my whole world, Kurt. And without you, I don’t know what I’ll do. Every time I feel sad and I talk to you, I just feel so much better. And when you took me in, that just showed me how much you love and trust me. I love you, I don’t know-“He sighed, “I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I love you. Please, please,” He closed his eyes and brought Kurt’s hand up to Blaine’s face, “come back, and don’t die. Not now, not when we love each the most. Not when I need you the most.” He closed his eyes and let tears fall freely onto Kurt’s bed.
Someone cleared their throat behind Blaine. He jumped.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” said the young doctor.
“Uh, I was just leaving anyway.” Blaine got up. The young doctor put his hand out.
“I’m Jon. Is Kurt your friend?” Jon asked.
“My boyfriend.” Blaine replied.
“Oh. Trust me, Kurt will be fine. I promise.” Jon reassured him. Blaine thanked him and walked out. He sat down with the rest of the family.
“Blaine. Do you want to stay at our house tonight?” Carole asked kindly.
“Y-yes please.” Blaine was recovering from his heart breaking session with Kurt. The car journey was so hard for Blaine, everything reminded him of Kurt. They even played Perfect on the radio. When they go into the house, Burt asked Blaine something he wished he hadn’t:
“Do you want to sleep in Kurt’s room?” Of course he didn’t! Why would he think he would!?
“Yes please.” Blaine replied politely. He walked up the stairs and went into Kurt’s room. He could smell Kurt’s expensive cologne in the air, his clothes still strewn across the room. Blaine smiled, he was never well known for keeping his room clean. He sat on the bed, the same bed they made out on and were walked in on by Finn. Blaine laughed quietly. A tear rolled down his face when he saw a picture of him and Kurt on his bedside table. He picked it up and began crying. He threw his head in the pillow but just couldn’t bear smelling Kurt much longer. He heard a knock at the door.
“C-come in.” Finn walked in awkwardly.
“Hey. How are you?” Finn asked.
“Why do you care?” Blaine shot back, coldly. Finn sat beside him on the bed. Blaine looked up at him.
“Blaine, I’m sorry for all the times I’ve been horrible to you. I didn’t mean it, Kurt loves you and I guess I love him but not the way Kurt loves you because that would just be weird and I’m sorry because-“Blaine shushed his babbling session.
“I know you didn’t mean it. It’s cool between us.” Blaine replied in usual dapper way.
“Oh. Then cool.” Finn walked out.
The next day, at Blaine's house
#you were only-#
“Kurt?”
“Blaine, its Carole. Blaine felt his face fall.”
“Oh, hey. Is everything ok?”
“Can you come down to the hospital right away?”
“Is Kurt dead?”
“Just come please.”
“But-“
“Bye bye, honey.”
Blaine raced down the street all the way to the hospital; he didn’t have enough time to get his car. At least all those athletic classes were finally paying off. He raced through the front door to ward 23.
He ran up to the sad parents.“I-is he, dead?” He said, breathing heavily.
“Why don’t you see for yourself?” Burt said quietly.
Blaine whispered courage over and over again. He opened the door a crack. This was it. He was either alive, or dead. One of them could end Blaine’s whole life; the other could give him so much happiness he couldn’t express. He looked to the bed. There was Kurt. Lying with his eyes open. Blaine held the door for support. He sank to the floor and cried into his lap.
“Oh my god. Kurt. Oh my god.” Blaine cried over and over again. He walked up to the bed and looked at his boyfriend.
“Hey there Mr Soppy McCrying Pants.” Kurt whispered to his boyfriend.
“Kurt. Kurt, I thought you would die.” Blaine cried to him.
“No, I could never. Not without telling you how much I frickin’ love you. I love you Blaine, so much and I’m not sure what happened in these last few weeks, but all I know is that I love you more than ever now.” Kurt looked up at his beautiful lover. He was choking back his tears.
“I-I love you too,” Blaine sniffed, “And these days were the hardest for me to deal with. I love you so much, more than anything in the world and I-if you went-“Blaine’s voice drowned in his tears.
“Shh, it’s ok. Everything is ok now.” Kurt whispered.
“I know. I love you.”
“Always?” Kurt asked playfully.
“And forever.” Blaine said before leaning down to kiss his wonderful boyfriend. His Kurt.
