Kurt froze.

He felt like he couldn't move, the words still ringing in his ears "and then I'm gonna kill you". When he finally remembers how to breathe, tears start falling as he rushes down the corridor, out of the school, as far away as he could from Karofsky.

When Kurt arrives home, he darts up to his bedroom and sobs into his pillow, knowing that his dad won't be back to comfort him for another couple of hours. His next instinct is to grab his phone off his bedside table and call Blaine. The phone beeps a couple of times because Kurt knows that Blaine is probably in class right now. He picks up after the fourth beep with a cheerful "helloooo" just like his usual lively self. After hearing his voice Kurt bursts into tears and just about manages to mumble "Bl-Blaine" his voice breaking halfway through. Blaine's tone changes in a heartbeat and starts making reassuring and comforting sounds, trying to get Kurt to calm down.

After about five minutes Kurt has calmed down just enough to be audible, his voice still shaking, and tells Blaine how Karofsky threatened to kill him. There is silence on the other end and Kurt wonders if during his sobbing he accidently ended the call. Then suddenly he hears Blaine "omgomgomg... okay Kurt stay there, I'm coming over" and with that the call had ended. Kurt was shocked but patiently waited for Blaine to arrive, trying to make himself look a little more decent and chucking a few of the tissues in the bin.

Around twenty minutes the doorbell rang and Kurt flew down the stairs, unlocked the door, and flung himself at Blaine. Normally Kurt would never embrace Blaine like this but Blaine was gripping on just as hard. After what felt like eternity they pulled apart, both looking like they could cry again.

"Are you alright" Blaine looked up at Kurt whilst sitting on his bed, knowing fully well the answer was no. Kurt's breathe hitched "I have never felt more terrified in my entire life and I don't know what to do anymore" his eyes welling up with tears. Blaine reached over and took his hand "I'm so sorry about what has happened and I can't stand the fact that you have had to put up with this for so long so... I want to play you a song that I wrote and hopefully it will make you feel better" with a quick smile he picked up his guitar, which Kurt didn't even notice him bring as he was crying too much.

Kurt nodded his head and watched as Blaine started softly playing. "I've been alone... surrounded by darkness" Kurt closed his eyes realising how true these lyrics were "and I've seen how heartless... the world can be" Kurt didn't know when the tears started falling but once they started they couldn't stop. When It got to the chorus Blaine looked directly into Kurt's eyes "Baby you're not alone... cause you're here with me" a smile started to creep onto Kurt's face as he realised that not everything in his life was a disaster "and nothings ever gonna bring us down" he noticed that Blaine was still staring at him with a playful smile on his lips "cause nothings ever gonna change our love is all we need to make it through".

As the song finished Kurt was blushing madly whereas Blaine was nervously picking at the strings on his guitar. There was a pause and then Blaine looked back up at Kurt "so... what do you think" he smiled shyly. Kurt was trying to find any words that could express his emotion and failed. "I...er... wow. Just wow Blaine thank you so much. No-one has ever done anything like that for me before" Blaine gave him a huge grin, obviously pleased with himself "well, I meant what I said, you're not alone Kurt. I will always be here for you. Always".

Kurt smiled to himself, knowing that Blaine did mean these things. He looked back up at Blaine "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, thank you" Blaine grinned stupidly and pulled him into a tight hug.
